They’re the Norwegian band that combined traditional Sami sounds and Europop melodies to create a Eurovision success story. At the recent Melodi Grand Prix 2020 launch, the KEiiNO’s Tom Hugo told us that Eurovision 2019 was not the end destination for the group and a debut album is on the way.

When will KEiiNO release their debut album?

Since winning the televote in Tel Aviv with 291 points and placing sixth overall, KEiiNO have released several singles. However, fans are eager for more.

Tom Hugo tells us about the upcoming LP:

“We just finished our album and we can’t wait to show our music to the rest of the world”.

Will KEiiNO return to Melodi Grand Prix?

As the group brought Norway its best result in years, many fans are longing for a MGP comeback. Tom does not rule out a return, stating that the moment and the song have to be right.

“You never know. If the right song comes and if they want us. You never know.”

Before joining KEiiNO, both Tom Hugo and Alexandra Rotan participated separately in Melodi Grand Prix. Tom competed twice, in 2013 and 2018. Alexandra teamed up with Eurovision 2011 act Stella Mwangi in 2018 with their duet “You Got Me”, which finished third. KEiiNO’s MGP participation was Fred Buljo’s first step on the Norwegian Eurovision stage.

Returning to Melodi Grand Prix is common practice for former Norwegian Eurovision acts. This year’s Melodi Grand Prix also has several familiar faces, including Didrik Solli-Tangen, who represented the country in 2010. In 2018, Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak returned to the Oslo stage and won MGP with “That’s How You Write A Song”.

Would you like to see KEiiNO return to Melodi Grand Prix? Are you excited for their album? Let us know in the comments.

Very excited for the new album, especially knowing they have collaborated with various other indigenous artists around the world on the album!

I know everyone who enters agrees to the rules and it wasn’t any of my favorites but I feel so bad for everyone who wins the public vote and ends up with nothing at the end of the voting. It’s just not right.

They were my favourite in 2019, I still enjoy playing on my ipod, their song. Hope they continue tons of years more doing music, and mixing those semi sounds with kitsch europop
