Monique Alen Chicco Ruta Loop

The second heat of Lithuania’s Pabandom iš naujo! Nacionalinė Eurovizijos Atranka 2020 was filmed on Wednesday 15 January. This means we now know the next 12 acts who will appear in the televised broadcast on Saturday 18 January.

Eurovizijos Atranka 2020 Heat Two

In heat one, we became familiar with some newly introduced format changes. These resulted in a more polished and much-improved show. So, we just hope that the second heat raises our expectations even higher.

The expert panel members for this episode are Aistė Smilgevičiūtė, Viktoras Diawara, Gerūta Griniūtė, Jievaras Jasinskis and Darius Užkuraitis.

Six acts will qualify from this heat and move on to the semi-final stage. That means, we’ll be saying goodbye to the remaining six.

Now let’s get to know some of the 12 competing acts:

Monique – “Make Me Human”

Monika Pundziūtė has been on the top of many Eurovision fan wishlists for several years. And it seems that the time has finally come. She’s one of the most famous Lithuanian singer, starting her music journey by winning X Factor.

Her Eurovizijos entry is written by Vytautas Bikus who composed Ieva Zasimauskaitė’s “When We’re Old”. It has yet to be released at the time of writing, so take a listen to one of her past hits instead.

aBrokenleg — “Electric Boy”

The alternative, avant-garde, indie pop group aBrokenleg is quite new on the scene. They were the first of all 36 acts to release their entry — “Electric Boy”. It’s interesting and unique, and will surely stand out on the night.

Indraya – “You & I”

Indrė Čiukauskienė is an experienced singer and songwriter. She worked with Eurovision 2015 star Vaidas Baumila as his backing vocalist for some time. Now, finally, she’s decided to try out for Eurovision herself. “You & I” was written by Andrius Bernatonis and Joel Wayman. Fun fact — Indraya last competed in Lithuania’s pre-selection 20 years ago. This has to be one of the longest breaks ever!

Kristina Jure – “My Sound of Silence”

Kristina Jurevičiūtė started her music career on X Factor, finishing third. Recently, she got a call from songwriter Aurimas Papečkys. He’d written a “My Sound Of Silence” and needed a singer to bring it to life. From the first listen, Kristina fell in love and decided that she going to try her luck in this year’s Eurovizijos Atranka.

Rūta Loop – “We Came From Sun”

Rūta Žibaitytė is another singer who found fame on The Voice of Lithuania. She’s back at Eurovizijos Atranka for a second go. However, she already was on the big Eurovision stage alongside Vaidas and Monika in 2015 but only as a backing vocalist.

Twosome – “Playa”

The playful trio Paulius, Justinas and Žigmantas are returning to the preselection for a third time. “Playa” is an upbeat and fun song. It will most definitely grab lots of attention. We know this group is not afraid to put up a great stage performance, so we only need to wait and see what they on Saturday.

Alen Chicco — “Somewhere Out There”

Alen Chicco is another returnee. Beloved for his expressive voice and sense of theatricality, he’ll no doubt pull out all the stops — and some OTT costumes — as he sings “Somewhere Out There”. He last competed in 2019 with “Your Cure”. His 2020 entry has not been released at the time of writing.

Eurovizijios Atranka 2020 Heat Two Remaining acts

The heat one line-up will be completed by:

  • Antturi – “I Gotta Do”
  • Germanas Skoris – “Chemistry”
  • Soliaris – “Breath”
  • Viktorija Miskunaite – “The Ocean”
  • Voldemars Petersons – “Wings of Freedom”

Who you think the six qualifiers will be? And which song are you most excited to hear on Saturday? Let us know in the comments below.

I mean.. wow…Moniqué must represent Lithuania. Lithuanians shouldn’t waste such a chance to achieve highest place in their history of participation. Make Me Human is damn freaking good

That’s what I was saying for months. But no one cared. Can’t wait to see people’s reactions on Saturday.

Monique can win the whole Eurovision. I’m sorry but it would get the best Lithuanian result ever and honestly would be such a fan favorite. Can’t wait to see it live but she will win this 99%.

I was there. Monique stole the show. I can already see her winning the whole selection. Stunning song and performance. I’m now ashamed that I was rooting for Gabrielius and Monika Marija.

Are they saving Aiste because she has the best bid?

It’s not out yet. Just some rehearsal snippets floating around. Kinda sounds like Billie Eilish – “Lovely”, if you want to get the general idea.

Just came back from the studio, and Monique performed very well. I would’t call this song a power ballad, more like mid tempo, billie elish kind of song. Very modern and very 2020. Sorry Monika Marija lovers, but “If I leave” doesn’t stand a chance against “Make me Human”. Can’t wait to see it on TV though!

Is Alen Chicco’s song good? Because in the picture it looks really intriguing 🙂

Performance was kinda interesting, he sang very well, but the song is not a typical Eurovision song. There is no good melody that you can sing along 🙁 Your cure was so much better in my opinion

It’s not really a power ballad. As someone already said, it’s a Billie Eilish-type song with a flowing chorus. I’m actually relieved that it’s not a power ballad. It’s not her style.
