In December, the participants for Eurovision – Australia Decides were announced to the public, revealing some very familiar faces, some steps back in memory, and some fresh acts to boot.
Despite only one song having been released and confirmed so far, that didn’t stop readers from checking out the back catalogues of all the competitors, and thinking about what each contestant might bring on stage. While the sunny Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre gets ready to host on February 7 and February 8, we wanted to know which of the artists you are most excited for.
After 2,747 votes, we can reveal that the king (or self-described queen) of your excitement is 22 year old Jack Vidgen. He amassed 964 votes, or 33.6% of all votes cast. He is also the only contestant to release his entry so far, titled “I Am King I Am Queen”.
Fellow youngster and new-to-the-scene Jordan-Ravi just fell sort of Jack, gaining 812 votes or 29.6% of all votes cast.
Jordan-Ravi spoke to wiwibloggs, telling us he was over the moon with the support he received in our poll:
“I’m so happy that wiwibloggs has given me the opportunity to reach out to my fans and people who never heard of me! To be one of the top contenders on the artist poll is mind blowing and it’s given me so much positive energy going into the competition. I’m working really hard preparing for the show and I’m really looking forward to everyone finally hearing “Pushing Stars”. I hope to make everyone proud on the 8th of February and I just can’t wait to perform at Eurovision – Australia Decides.”
Rounding out the top three was veteran Vanessa Amorosi, who received 329 votes, or 12% of all votes cast.
Who is Jack Vidgen?
Reality television veteran (despite his young age), Jack Vidgen won Australia’s Got Talent as a fresh faced 14 year old, before launching a successful recording career. He left the spotlight several years later due to burnout, deciding to work at an aged care home. Earlier last year, he relaunched his career as a participant on The Voice Australia, finishing as a semi-finalist. He will be performing his ballad, “I Am King I Am Queen”.
The now 22 year old said he’s super excited to be joining the Australian Decides lineup:
“I am incredibly excited to be a part of Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020 and actually can’t believe it’s really happening. I’m a huge fan of Eurovision, so to be competing for the opportunity to represent Australia is mind-blowing. I adore my song “I Am King I Am Queen” which I cowrote with Andrew Lowden. It’s a real representation of me and everything I stand for and I think that everyone, young and old, will be able to relate to and take inspiration from this song. I hope that the Eurovision audiences love it as much as I do!”
The singer also recently performed on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, where he was praised by Simon Cowell, who said he had an “extraordinary voice”.

but he has ugly cliche ballad
I find Jack’s song pretty dull and I can’t see it going to Rotterdam. Given Australia’s track record at Eurovision there surely must be a stronger song in the selection.
Jaguar Jonze is my winner
Phew. The LACK of taste
Self-proclaimed kings and queens often end up as a fool.
all this fishy coverage he’s getting and now this suspicious poll… hmm…. won’t change the fact that he’ll be bottom of the leaderboard in february (not like he’s used to topping anyway)
From bottoming to bottoming out, so to speak.
The shame. The shame of it all…
Jack’s vocals are incredible. Don’t underestimate him. 😉
Still…the song…meh.
Did they vote before they listened to his song? Lol
Still find it funny that the fake Crown Australia Decides poster I made keeps being used in news articles.
That logo is AMAZING
Haha thank you. I made it on paint.net in like 10 minutes. Then a month later the official promo vid from sbs was released and the slogan was “who will wear the crown”.
Look I’m not saying I made that slogan but… I am.
Isn’t it strange that the one entrant who has already released his song won a poll of which act readers are most excited for? It doesn’t seem that likely.
I’m excited about Jaguar, Montaigne and Didirri
Jack and Jordan were on the bottom of the poll for weeks. This is malarkey.
