On 23 December last, Christmas came two days early when Croatian broadcaster HRT revealed the identities of the 16 acts which will compete in Dora 2020 — the countries national final for Eurovision 2020.
Like last year, we probably won’t hear the songs until the broadcast of the national selection on 29 February.
Nonetheless, there’s still plenty to chew over as we know the artists and the titles of their entries.
Here are just three standouts to whet your appetite.
Dora 2020 — Ones to watch
Lorena Bucan
She was the runner-up in the 2019 revival of Dora. And Lorena Bucan will be hoping to do one better this time round. There’s every chance that she could reproduce the “Tower Of Babylon” magic, as two-thirds of that song-writing team are behind her entry once again.
Damir Kedzo
He’s one of Croatia’s biggest rising stars. Handsome with a mellow voice, a Damir Kedzo love ballad could certainly get Croatia back to the Eurovision final. Not to mention melt all of our hearts in the process! A few years back he won the annual summer Splitski Festival with young singer Domenica and “Mi Protiv Nas”. Could he grab an even bigger prize this time around?
Indira
Indira is a seasoned singer who is best known for previously being the lead singer in the dance music group, Colonia — who will also be taking part in Dora 2020. Famed for her bold and strong voice, Indira would certainly make an impact for Croatia at Eurovision.
Poll: Which Dora 2020 act are you the most excited for?
So who are you most excited for? Is it one of the three acts showcased above? Perhaps it’s someone else?
Could it be Bojan Jambrosic or Jure Brkljaca who also competed last year?
Regardless of who you’re backing, it’s time to vote in our poll! Choose wisely, you can only vote ONE time. Voting ends just before the 16 competing songs are released.

[…] the artists reveal in December, we asked our readers to vote for the Dora act they are most excited for. And after amassing 942 votes, Lorena collected 294 votes (or 31.21% of overall votes), thus […]
This would definitely be te most exciting entry ever from Croatia! Well done, Adriana!

Aklea Neon wrote a song Call her mama. It is a song that celebrates Earth as our only home. She recorded the sounds of forest fires before during and after the fire and managed to compone it into a song to me sounds pretty promissing
Song by Lorenzo “Vrati se iz Irske” / “Come back from Ireland” is breaking EBU rule that name of a country can not be in the lyrics. I’m surprised that no one reacted.
Is that a rule? Ireland sent ‘Irlande douze points’ in 2008?
They took inspiration from the legendary character who teaches children to be inclusive , courageous and warm
Lesson that Croatia embodied in it’s culture.
So Dora is an apt name for croatian selection.
All hail Dora the same Explorer
I think Damir Kedzo is a serious contender to win this contest. Having won competitions such as Splitski Festival, Zagrebacki Festival, Tvoje Lice Zvuci Poznato (Your Face Sounds Familiar) and New Wave. Why not add Dora and potentially ESC 2020 to his list of achievements??
My Croatian friends tell me Marin Juri? ?ivro is the one to watch.
It’s obvious that ”excited for” polls without songs mostly just re-affirm previous favorites. I believe most of these people are very talented and it all depends on the song. Zdenka, Mia, Damir, Lorena, Jure, Indira, Bojan, Marin,.. ect. It could be any of them if they bring their A-game. The question is, how ”tailored for ESC” these songs are and how authentic to the performer. I hope HRT would release the songs prior to the contest this time around. It would be much easier to assess them and decide who to vote for.
I want something upbeat finally… so Colonia, Mia, Indira or maybe Lorena if she has something similar to ToB
Indira is the biggest star of the bunch, but I don’t know if she’ll win, it will all depend on the song. If she wins, she definitely has 12 televote points from all of the ex-Yu countries, as she’s a big star.
I hope the best song wins this time. Nothing else matters tbh…Also, we don’t know yet if they are going to release songs or not. Last year, the offical rules said that they won’t release them earlier but this year they removed that article from the document….so we’ll see
Dora doesn’t mean anything, it’s a female name. They named the festival after the Croatian music composer Dora Pejacevic.
Competition’s name comes from Dora Pejacevic. She wrote the first modern symphony in Croatia.
