Dansk Melodi Grand Prix District Semi Finals 2020

It’s the national final that’s celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020. And to celebrate, Denmark is opening up Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 to even more acts.

Ahead of the traditional ten song one-night final, Danish radio listeners will get to pick their favourites from nine semi-finalists across a trio of district-based heats. One act will win in each district. And from the six left behind, two will be given jury wildcards. These five will join five more pre-qualified acts.

Voting closes on 24 January and the results will be published shortly after.

Danish residents will get to vote in each semi-final based on where they live, but if you don’t happen to reside in the land of Rasmussen and Emmelie De Forest, fear not! You can still let your voice be heard in our series of polls.

You can listen to all nine entries below and then vote for your favourite in each district. You can pick as many acts as you like, but you can only vote once. So choose wisely!

Hmmm.. my favourites are: Yes, Forget It All and Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig.
I feel like We Could Be So Beautiful will be a sure fire hit with the jury!

This is a much stronger year for Demark, I’m happy for them!

Sander Sanchez seems to be perfect for eurovision, the rest lack real diversity. All white and alot of men.

you probably are a guy who thinks that beacuse so many afghan and syrian have immigrated to Europe now that 50% should be that in every selection. Am i right? in that case i have no comment.

A little more diversity should not be too much to ask for? They even sound very simular.. It’s better than last year but still not a winner.

Quite a solid selection here. Good luck to all the participants. 🙂
I do have a personal favourite, but I wouldn’t mind if any of these won anyhow; I like them all in different ways.

Anybody Danish here ?
Does Samsara mean anything in your language ? Or is it a usual name in Denmark ?

Cause in sanskrit it means ‘World’

I have read about the song. She says the song is about commiting all to a project and gives a specific perspective to the climate front the youth has founded – maybe why “world” is used?

OFF TOPIC: Now that Martin Osterdahl is the new executive supervisor after ESC in Rotterdam, which time slot do you think will the EBU choose for Junior Eurovision?

* Saturday night
* Sunday afternoon

So the Danish “semifinalists” could actually be in the MGP final. These sound good, some are generic but they are still enjoyable. The Norweian finalists and sf are really weak. My winners:

South Distric – Kenny Duerlund – “Forget It All”

East District – SamSara – “For You”

North District – Sander Sanchez – “SCREENS”

Its a pity For You and Yes are in the same semi, both of these are good songs.

Maybe I am in a bad mood, but none of these songs grab me. They all sound very same-y, lots of fake American accents going on, lots of modern keyboard sounds, but they all feel soulless.

I agree with the poll leaders right now. Kenny, Ben & Tan and Mielou are the best of the worst

This is a fast one, I see. Too many new songs today, so I’ll listen to these tomorrow. So, that’s increase to 14 songs in Denmark, then? Cool! Good luck to everyone! 🙂
