EMA 2020 FINAL

After an initial announcement just before the Christmas break, the complete line-up for EMA 2020 — Slovenia’s Eurovision selection — was finally finalised on Saturday. That’s because EMA FREŠ — a newly introduced wildcard round designed to unearth “fresh talent” — came to a close. And with that came the last two acts for the EMA 2020 line-upParvani Violet and Saška.

The pair join the ten artists already confirmed to compete in the 22nd edition of Eurovizijska Melodija 2020 (EMA). The winner, of course, will represent the country in Rotterdam.

However, while we’ve heard the entries from the two EMA FRESH graduates, the rest of the tracks remain unknown save for the song titles.

Nonetheless, there’s still plenty to chew over.

Here are just three standouts to whet your appetite.

Slovenia’s EMA 2020 — Ones to watch

Tinkara Kovač

Tinkara is a woman famed for her flute. She brought it to EMA in 2001, and again when she won the contest in 2014 with “Round And Round”. At Eurovision, she took Slovenia back to the final after a two-year absence. She’s dallied with Eurovision on numerous occasions since then — performing as an interval at EMA 2015, presenting the Slovenian points in Vienna and acting as an expert jury member in several national selections for other countries.

Lina Kuduzović

In 2015, Lina secured Slovenia its first-ever podium placing at a Eurovision event, finishing third at Junior Eurovision. Prior to singing “Prva ljubezen”, she won Slovenia’s Got Talent aged just seven. Since JESC, she’s auditioned for The Voice Kids Germany.

EMA FREŠ winners — Parvani Violet and win

Both Parvani Violet and Saška made history by becoming the first winners of EMA FREŠ. One was chosen by the public and the other by juries, although it has not been revealed which artist received which wildcard.

They may be new to the industry, but the wildcard selection put them through their paces. They overcame fan favourites such as Astrid in Avantgarden and Younite, so could shock again.
