Prague don’t play. And in 2020 it hopes to slay! The seven songs competing in ESCZ — that’s the Czech Republic’s online national final — have been generating a lot of buzz with Eurofans. Writing on our YouTube channel, one user even joked that the quality on show is stressing him out. Green Oscar wrote: “A big F you to Czech Republic for putting out so many decent songs. No matter who wins I’m going to be broken hearted due to the fact that some of my favourite songs will miss out. Thanks a lot.”
From returnees like Barbora Mochowa and Pam Rabbit to the curiously named group We All Poop, this selection is cutting across genres like never before. Ambient, arty, alt-rock, dance — it’s all here and in your face. Amid all that buzz, I decided to sit down and watch the videos in front of a camera and a terrifying ring light. (That’s why my eyes look like possessed). I’ve put timestamps below in case you want to jump to a specific act.

ESCZ2020: When does online voting stop?
Voting opened at 8:00 CET on 20 January and closes at 20:00 CET on 2 February. The results are set to be announced one day later.
These public votes will count for 50% of the overall score. The remaining half will come from a panel of international jurors. Once again, international viewers can also vote. In previous editions, these votes were weighted to equal one jury vote.
