Melodifestivalen Semi-Final 1 Running Order
As with Eurovision, producers decide the Melodifestivalen running order to provide the best possible show. Songs are ordered to contrast one another and give each artist an opportunity to shine.
The Mamas open things up with “Move”. The ladies will hope their experience at Eurovision last year helps them edge out their competition.
Spotify star Suzi P is on second. Hip hop has had a mixed history at Melodifestivalen, but she might be the person to turn that trend around with her song “Moves”. Returning Melfest winner Robin Bengtsson is on third. His entry – “Take a Chance” has drawn comparisons to Ed Sheerhan.
Malou Prytz made the final last year and will hope “Ballerina” can get her there again. OVÖ follow her with their party track “Inga Problem” and seasoned balladeer Sonja Aldén takes to the stage in sixth position with “Sluta aldrig gå”.
2018 runner-up Felix Sandman closes out proceedings. His second solo entry in the competition “Boys with Emotions” tackles the topical social issue of male mental health. How the entries fare is down to the Swedish public.
How can I watch Melodifestivalen 2020?
In Sweden, all six weeks of Melodifestivalen 2020 will be broadcast live on SVT1. International fans will be able to watch the semi-finals, Andra Chansen and the final on SVTPlay. The broadcaster will make a non-geoblocked stream available.
All shows air from 8pm CET.

All this sounds to me like average commercial stuff. Nothing that really stands out. Sweden is overrated as always.
From snippets they all kinda meh. I guess The Mamas and Robin are ok. That stage is ugly tho.
I think it is between The Mamas, Robin and Felix (What a shocker). Malou probably to AC. But Felix is ‘borrowing’ a lot from Wiktoria as well as Danny Saucedo, and Malou is borrowing a lot from Loreen- at least that was my first impression, so I think Robin and the Mamas should go straight to the final.
Lol Robin has the best song of the comp … who the hell thinks that LOL that song and presentation so far is horrid but please please let him do it let him fail hahaha that will be the best prize ever !!
The Mamas were the best rehearsal. I think I’m going to like Robin’s staging, but that hand choreography is sooo awkward. :)))
Boys With Emotions is SO cringeworthy, I can’t believe a 21 year old can willingly sing that song with confidence and not be embarrassed by the lyrics.

Malou seems to have the most interesting and emotional song. I think she should definitely go DTF. The two songs that were hyped – Robin and Felix’s – seem to be a bit underwhelming, especially Felix’s. He’s singing a song about boys with emotions yet he’s not emoting any feelings. It’s like singing a sad song yet smiling all the way through it. The delivery is very confusing.
Really don’t see the point of releasing snippets, what can you judge from those? It’s like a teaser trailer to a movie, nothing,,
Also, more seriously: Don’t think SVT or EBU should be uploading any rehearsal clips. I like to be surprised, not knowing what to expect. It’s also not fair as an artist having every move you do being scrutinized..
Hard to say who’ll go DTF. I feel like it’ll be Robin and Felix. I want Malou to but I don’t see how she’ll beat out one of those two at this point.
Malou’s perfomance seems organic and has an emotional appeal i think. She should go throw but i am afraid Felix will win the whole thing. The typical SJB staging looks nice but it doesnt have an impact for me.
p.s Its my opinion. If i was a “swedish hater” as the trolls in this website say, i would simply write “ew pure trash they should come last etc”.
Hmm.. I’m not overwhelmed right now, but so far Malou and Felix are my favourites. But… … ooo vad kul, nu startar hela karusellen … hur tror ni svenska folket röstar? Orkar inte skriva på engelska. Jag hoppas att folket röstar Felix och sedan Robin eller Malou till final. Men Felix låt kanske inte slår så brett som Robins eller Malous. Tror att The Mama’s kan tilltala folket också. Det kanske blir dom som också lyckas ta sig till final före nån av de andra jag nämnt. Jag tycker annars att det är en bra första deltävling. Utgången är lite svårtippad. Och det verkar som att det bland fansen verkar vara The Mama’s som är mest popuära? Inte många som fattar Felix 😀 Lite provocerande nummer kanske? Men det gillar jag :))
Very polished performances, although no-one necessarily grabbed me in the short 30 seconds we can hear.
I suppose Felix is the most interesting – unusual presentation and the topic is important. It might be my ears, but his vocal performance seemed not so good. I hope he can improve.
Actually really good start for Sweden.
My favorite is Robin. Maybe not the best staging here, but the catchiest song.
Felix is nice too, but not sure if he’s a televote success material for ESC.

Felix’s song sounds really cool so far (my fav), kinda sounds like a Troye Sivan song! Also really enjoy The Mamas, Malou and Robin. Love for all acts in this semi, go slay!

I don’t know why but I really love the Mamas! They just make me so happy Otherwise, i don’t know really, I mean Felix and Robin have great songs but they are wrong for Melodifestivalen, I like them don’t get me wrong but it is like the songs are too sophisticated for MF, can’t really explain it but hope you understand what i mean! Robin has HANDS DOWN the best song. It’s actually the only song i keep in mind, the melody is very catchy. That performance tho is a miss… hope they will fix the staging. Otherwise : the Mamas were kind of predictable, Malou is going full Sia (song, performance) and I’m not really into it, and although i dont like his song, Felix has a good staging.
We’ve seen 30 seconds of Robin. There has got to be more to it than that. Have faith!

Robin has problems with his performance. Hope they will manage to fix it. I like Felix the most though. It’s so cool and fresh. But.. I also don’t think people will vote for it in Eurlvision unfourtunetely if we send it. I have no doubt that “Boys with emotions” will become a huge hit in Sweden. Perhaps outside of Sweden as well. But Eurovision is something else. I think it’s sad that real modern songs rarely make it in the competition. I find Eurovision sometimes very old-fashioned..
True! I feel winners as of last hasn’t been that unique or one of a kind. I sort of miss winners who won because they stood out. I liked Duncan Laurence but it was an “ordinary” song. Had it been any other year it wouldn’t have won..
That said, I do think Sweden will do well this year again.!

Ballerina is the best studio version, but it is too much SIA (song, performance, everything) not original.

Don’t you think Felix will be compared whith his song last year? I think many will think it isn’t as good, and I think this song isn’t a song for all ages. My mother for example won’t like it. But felix is right now my favourite, but he might have to go to andra chanson.
I think Robin and the mamas will be appreciated from many ages and I think they will go to the final. But I would like Malou and Felix.

The way Felix looks like is definitely UNATTRACTIVE, and he is even making himself more unappealing with horrible style choise. And everyone’s entitled to his/her opinion! I’m gonna start watching Quicksand tonight (on the eve of Melfest 1st semi) should be a tense thrilling limited series like The Outsider which is currently airing right now.

They’re all good, I mean, it’s Sweden we’re talking about, but none of these sound like a song that would give them a great televote result at Eurovision.

Malou’s was…weird? Robin didn’t have as good of a song as the media said and his rehearsal clip was quite underwhelming. The mamas slayed as they should and Felix went all in. Felix and the mamas DTF and Malou to AC with OVÖ
I like her song but it did feel a lot like a Sia tribute act to be honest. Agreed with your perspectives on Felix and the Mamas but you surprise me with OVO there a little, I found their performance to be rather unrehearsed and sounded off..
I like the kind of genre OVÖ is singing so that’s why i put them there. Malou really did have a Sia tribute act, you’re totally right. The dancer reminded me of maddie ziegler (the dancer from all the SIA music videos)
The clip/staging/song of Felix Sandman is bad and it seems like he copied Billy Eilish. But Robin Bengtson’s is TERRIBLE. WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE? The moves and especially the voice. He sounds totally off
