Tomorrow night, Melodifestivalen 2020 will kick off with the first semi-final in Linköping. But we could already have a clue as to who the most successful acts will be. Melodifestivalklubben’s audience poll, conducted at tonight’s jury rehearsal, has Felix Sandman and The Mamas as the top two acts, suggesting they’ll be the ones heading direkt till final on Saturday night.
Melodifestivalklubben — the Swedish chapter of the OGAE fan network — polled 641 audience members at Saab Arena after tonight’s rehearsal. They were asked “What was your favourite tonight?”
At the top of the poll was Felix Sandman. The former FO&O singer had 215 votes for his song “Boys with Emotions”, giving him 33.5% of the overall vote.
Coming in second was Eurovision 2019 backing singers The Mamas. Now going solo with “Move”, they picked up 198 votes or 31%.
In third place — and possibly heading to andra chansen — was Malou Prytz. Her entry “Ballerina” (with choreography by Ace Wilder) had 86 votes or 13%. And maybe joining her in andra chansen is Sweden’s Eurovision 2017 star Robin Bengtsson. He earned 78 votes for “Take a Chance”, 12% of the overall vote.
But the poll does not bode well for the three remaining acts. Sonja Aldén picked up 42 votes for her song “Sluta aldrig gå” (6.5%), while Suzi P‘s “Moves” and OVÖ’s “Inga problem” each picked up 11 votes or just 2% of the overall vote.

Of course, with such a small sample size, there’s no way of telling if this audience poll will play out correctly.
While previous predictions have been accurate, the audience poll hasn’t always got it right. In 2018 the poll infamously placed Felix Sandman second-to-last in his heat. Of course, he went on to finish runner-up to Benjamin Ingrosso while also spending several weeks atop the Swedish charts.
Nonetheless — it’s a spot of fun and has proven generally correct in the past.
