The hype surrounding Eurovision Song CZ (ESCZ) 2020, the Czech Republic’s selection for Eurovision, is real. In a few short hours, we’ll finally know who will represent the Czech Republic at Eurovision 2020. The announcement of the final results is set to take place at 18:00 CET today.
Our readers hope that plant-based punk band We All Poop will succeed Lake Malawi, while the Wiwi Jury had a tough time deciding on one favourite.
Many fans will no doubt be getting nervous while we wait for the final outcome. Thus, perhaps now is the time to sit back and listen to some stripped-back acoustic tracks. Luckily, we’ve been gifted with exactly that for each of the seven songs competing in ESCZ 2020.
Last year, many fans were initially sceptical about Lake Malawi’s chances at Eurovision, but eventually found themselves falling in love after their live performance. Perhaps these live acoustic performances could sway your opinion on which song should get the ticket to Rotterdam.
Eurovision Song CZ 2020: Acoustic live performances
The ‘Mikolas Josef Challenge’
On Instagram, Mikolas Josef, the Czech participant from 2017, announced that all seven artists would perform their songs in a live acoustic fashion. He then invited the online voters to make their decision based on the acoustic versions in addition to the studio versions.
Barbora Mochowa – “White & Black Holes”
Barbora Mochowa performed her entry, “White & Black Holes”, with a piano. Her song, which already has an acoustic sound, receives a powerful vibe with this version. What doesn’t surprise us, as we know Barbora from last year’s contest too, she totally nailed the high notes.

V po?adí již t?etí akustická verze sout?žního songu národního kola ESCZ!!???Barbora Mochowa sv?j song zazpívala živ? a doprovodila se na klavírní k?ídlo. ?

Benny Cristo – “Kemama”
Benny Cristo also chose the piano as his instrument for the acoustic performance. He didn’t play the piano, but he did show his ability to think outside of the box. “Kemama” is an upbeat afro-pop track, but he managed to sing it well as a slow ballad.
BENNY CRISTO – unplugged verze – Kemama
Tohle jste ur?it? ne?ekali!Benny Cristo svou akustickou verzi pojal úpln? jinak. Jak se vám líbí tahle pomalejší verze? ??

Elis Mraz feat. Čis T – “Wanna Be Like”
Elis Mraz and Čis T performed their song outdoors, with an ukulele. Mraz opened the song while strumming away, and Čis T joined her to sing his part. They showed that, despite how hard the song is, the track is accessible live and even when the production isn’t very heavy.

Karelll – “At Least We’ve Tried”
Out of the seven acts, Karelll has by far the most acoustic song. Instead of a piano, he used a guitar for this version of the song. Well, actually, not just one, but two. Joined by a second player, Karelll belted out the acoustic guitar-accompanied ballad. In the video, he’s walking through a tunnel covered in graffiti.
KARELLL – unplugged verze – At Least We've Tried
Je to tu! Další akustický song, který jsme s Karelll nato?ili za atmosféry žižkovského tunelu!

Pam Rabbit – “Get Up”
Pam Rabbit showed stunning vocal ability last year in the acoustic version of “Easy to Believe”. This year, she’s participating with the dark indie rock track “Get Up”, and the acoustic version is equally amazing. Accompanied by guitar and percussion, the former Eurovision backing vocalist slayed live (as expected).
PAM RABBIT – unplugged verze – Get Up
Máme tu druhou akustickou verzi! Tentokrát se s naší výzvou poprala Pam Rabbitgurl a zazpívala naživo sv?j song Get Up.

Olga Lounová – “Dark Water”
Olga Lounová is a very accomplished singer in Czechia, so it’s no surprise she knows how to sing live. Her entry, in the studio version, is very produced and reminiscent of the epic genre, which gives it strength. However, performing with a small band in this acoustic version, the song remains powerful.
OLGA LOUNOVÁ – unplugged verze – Dark water
Máme tu poslední akustickou verzi! Olga Lounová naživo zazpívala sv?j song Dark water. ???

We All Poop – “All the Blood (Positive Song Actually)”
New-born rock band We All Poop decided to shake things up with this live version. They performed the song in a minor key and gave it more of a sad vibe. In other words, they turned it into “All the Blood (Negative Song Actually)”. They did well to keep the song’s quality high despite the change and showed good cooperation skills as a band.

?? Je to tu!! ??????První akustická verze sout?žní písn? národního kola ESCZ 2020. Co na ní ?íkáte?

Who do you think gave the best acoustic performance? Who do you want to win the selection? Let us know in the comments!
Congrats to Benny Cristo. He’s gonna bring a cool new sound to this year’s contest. Barbora done dirty by the public vote once again, but hey, still a good choice.
A lot of quality in this acts tbh. The reverb in some of these acoustic versions is too high but anyway, they sound so good. Great job CZ. Fingers crossed for We All Poop. I think the jury wil go for them but the televote might go for aan established act such Olga. We’ll see this evening.
Such high quality entries! Czech Republic needs to start doing a live national final show. We all poop was my favourite song based on the track but Dark Waters sounded the best in its acoustic version (granted all songs sounded great in both formats).
First time listening the songs (both acoustic and studio versions) and I have to admit that this is such a good bunch for Czech Republic, well done! All are very good but my standouts are probably Barbora and We All Poop. -Barbora: lovely voice and a much better song than last year. Last minute is epic, but the song drags on a little bit for the first two, which is a warning sign. -We All Poop: such a fresh song and I really like their style from what I see. It seems they lowered the chorus here and it sounds… Read more »
You should have posted it here sooner, it seems like a lot of people didn’t know about these unplugged versions while us Czech fans knew about it
Any news on where they will announce the winner?
They will announce it in the evening
what time
At 6pm
Damn, these unplugged versions make me wish even more that CT had organised a live televised final.
Elis Mraz (Wanna be like) is good!
It was the acoustic performance that really made Barbora stand out last year and it’s no different here.
We all Poop to Rotterdam, please – go vegan !
Olga doesn’t seem to be singing live in the acoustic version
It’s obvious she is
No she is not , you can hear her breathing heavily into the Mike on the audio but no heavy breathing in the video
Already knew Barbora was my favorite. This only reinforces that. Whether it’s her or We All Poop or whoever, I am ready to be pleased with today’s outcome. I hope.
Barbora all the way!
Hasn’t voting already closed a few days ago, or am I wrong? They should’ve came out with these earlier I think…
They were released throughout the past week. Only Olga’s acoustic performance, which was revealed last, was released on the deadline (yesterday).
I’m very confident that Olga has this in the bag after her acoustic performance.
They all sounds good live, but Barbora and Olga are vocally leagues ahead! Im fine with anyone winning except Benny because his song is very repetitive and boring
Miki represented us in 2018 not in 2017 🙂
Dang on… the Czech Republic did not come to play. All these songs sounded great as acoustic/live vocals. But I’ll admit Olga, Karelll, and Elis Mraz and ?is T… were the better sounding ones. Barbora sounded great as well though her song isn’t for me but I’d still not mind if she won. We all poop and Benny sounded good but their songs weren’t really made for these versions(again my opinion).
So top three studio:
We all poop
Karelll
Elis Mraz and ?is T
Top three live/acoustic vocals:
Karelll
Elis Mraz and ?is T
Olga
where will results be announced? Is it going to be a show or just an announcement?
Just announcement
There will be a presentation of results on FB Page ‘Ceska televize’ at 6 PM CET.
WOW….all the songs sound really great acoustically except for We All Poop which really makes the song drag and lose energy. What a great idea to produce these seven songs acoustically.
