Sanremo 2020 spotify charts

It’s been attracting record viewing figures on TV. And it seems that Italians simply can’t get enough of Sanremo 2020, because the entries from the annual festival are dominating streaming charts.

Spotify reports that eight of the top ten most-streamed songs in Italy on Thursday were from Festival di Sanremo. And even more entries are dotted throughout the top 50

Sanremo 2020 in the Spotify Charts

Riding highest of all is Pinguini Tattici Nucleari with “Ringo Starr”. The group racked up a total of 452,010 daily streams, just enough to secure the number one spot.

They dethrone Achille Lauro who must make do with second place. “Me ne frego” enjoyed 425,010 streams on its second day of release.

In fact, the entire top seven is filled with Festival favourites — Elettra Lamborghini, Francesco Gabbani, Levante, Rancore and Elodie.

The controversial Junior Cally rounds out the top ten.

Aside from Achille and Elodie, the rest of the leading pack were all released after Wednesday’s night show. So, for the moment, they might be considered fresher and carry more novelty — and thus be more attractive to stream.

The real test will come when Friday’s figures are released on Saturday. Despite lagging somewhat on Spotify, Elodie remains the bookies’ favourite. A position she’s held for some days now.

Also in the top ten is Fasma with “Per sentirmi vivo” at nine. However, he’s competing in the newcomers’ section and is ineligible for either the main Sanremo crown or the ticket to Eurovision.

The full Spotify ranking for Sanremo 2020 is listed below.

RAI is not uploading videos of the contestants to Youtube tonight. 🙁 Any idea where I can watch the performances?

Edit: Nevermind, found them on Rai Play!

Even better, they actually uploaded there the clips from the performances. Don’t know why not in Youtube this time.

Morgan what the absolute f*ck. Poor Bugo, can’t even imagine what’s going through his mind right now… they were my faves too… ;-;

What is happening to Bugo and Morgan?

Morgan basically changed the lyrics to degrade Bugo and Sanremo. Bugo basically went “nope” and stormed off the stage. Literally have stayed up the entire night just to watch them perform and then this happens. Hope he’ll re-record the song with a different artist. :/

That’s a shame. I actually preferred last night’s performance over their actual entry, but still – I knew there was something wrong from the way they came down the stairs – so they’re disqualified?

If Bugo was mad enough to stop and storm off, I can imagine that the two will be pulling out regardless of if they are disqualified or not.

Bugo is obviously sick of him. I can’t imagine he’d want to come back tomorrow.

I don’t know. His fans really want him to continue on with or without Morgan I think. Hope he does, he’s such a brilliant artist. But after such a display I think he probably won’t return..

Wait, so only Morgan got disqualified just now? Bugo could just come back tomorrow with someone else?

No, I mean they’re definitely not having Morgan back. I’m just saying there’s a groundswell of support for Bugo, and that could possibly lead to him coming back in some capacity.

Cher? From his Instagram: “The Divine Marquise Luisa Casati Stampa. Inspiring muse of the greatest artists of her time. Great, performer before performing art existed and living work of art”

I have a question for everyone who was watching Sanremo in last years: It says it starts in 20.40 and lasts till 1.15 in the night. However, I know that Sanremo is known for A LOT of guests and intervals. My question is do the performances of the competing acts starts within the first half an hour? If not, it would be ideal to watch MGP or Melfest before and then switch to Sanremo at 21.15 or so. Is it doable?

It depends on the night, some nights they start with a guest and sometime they start right away with the competing acts. But even if they start with the acts if you switch after Melfest you wouldn’t miss more than a couple, three at most

What’s the usual practice on the ending night?

Jonas

I’m wary of giving advice, I’m not sure with Sanremo there actually is usual practice, at least not in my (limited) experience. The broadcast starts at 20.40, but really the show proper will not start until 21.00, at least that’s how it was tonight and the previous three nights. You might be able to watch the whole of Melodifestivalen and not miss a competing entry, but even if you do, you could easily catch up with the YouTube videos during one of the extended periods between competing songs.

Tomorrow, google ‘Sanremo scaletta quinta serata’ and you will find an article with the order of guests and singers competing in the festival. So, you will have an idea when it really starts. But as previously said, it usually doesn’t start until 9,9:30.

At the final it is possible that by that time 1 artist will have performed, but I don’t think so, it usually takes more time, anyways if you skip this one act it’s fine, I’m pretty sure there won’t be more than one (two tops) contestant’s performance before 21:15.

Spotify or no Spotify, Tosca is insanely good! Whoever thinks Mia Martini should have won in 1992 mustn’t miss “Ho amato tutto”.

Based on the reviews I find it difficult for Gabbani to stay number one after tonight, the press wasn’t that impressed with his song this year

I just been there, following the Penguins in Spotify, my first adoptees of the season, what is fun, as one of my old faves, Tom Beck, just released a song for his newborn baby boy called Penguin. So my Spotify’s house page looks like a penguin house on a zoo.

lol i personally don’t vibe with the penguins (they’re the typical faux-indie band that coffee-dependent university students who go to class in their pajamas listen to, not my thing) but they’re among the better options and the public seems to be on their side… we ain’t winnin eurovision with that tho. still hoping for rancore, elodie and, of course, achille. happy to see elettra’s song is a smash hit, i love it.

What’s up with all the autotune in the studio versions though? It’s cringworthy! These are such amazing songs and great artists and spectacular performances – but they ruin most of them with autotune and bad voice effects! It’s crazy 🙁

I’m of two minds: if Italy are coming to play and make a serious effort to win it, Andromeda is the way to go. The song that makes me happiest is Ringo Starr, and therefore the one I’d enjoy the most at Eurovision (plus, while I’m not sure it’d win, I’m positive it would be at least top ten, possibly even top five, since it’s catchy in a general, happy kind of way).
