Melodifestivalen 2020 Semi Final two

It’s been a bit of a tumultuous week in the land of Melodifestivalen, with disqualifications and replacements. But, seven acts are set to take to the stage for semi-final two in Gothenburg to compete for four places in the next stages of the contest.

Two will advance direkt till final at Friends Arena. Two will have to fight another day in the duels at andra chansen. And three acts will advance no further and have to pack their bags.

You’ve read the media reviews and you’ve heard the snippets. And now you’ve seen the rehearsal clips too. Or 30-second snippets of them at least. So now we want to know who you think should win semi-final two of Melfest 2020.

Perhaps Klara Hammarström is your somebody, or you think Jan Johansen is serving a Mello miracle. Are you feeling Dotter’s song? Or maybe you’re partying to the entries from Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella and Linda Bengtzing. Maybe you’ve been talking in your sleep about Paul Rey, or you’re ready to stan Anna Berghandal to kingdom come.

You can show your love for as many of Saturday night’s acts as you like in our poll below, but make it count because you can only vote once. We’ll close the poll early on Saturday and reveal the results in advance of Saturday night’s semi-final.

Poll: Who should win semi-final 2 of Melodifestivalen 2020 in Gothenburg?

I think Mendez will get some extra support for his fight for his son to be accepted as gay when they lived in Chile. That family has made it easier for other gay youngsters in Chile. All creed to Mendes and the hole family

I think Anna is better than the song but she will be DF. Joined by Mendez
AC will be Paul Rey and Dotter. Though I wish Paul would be DF, it stands out for sure,,

I voted Anna and Dotter DtF (just like the poll, overall). Anna’s voice and staging is very professional and I generally like Dotter’s sound, voice and vibes. Still, I won’t be surprised if Sweden doesn’t vote her even through AC. Every year there are a number of brilliant acts im shocked dont at least make it through to AC – aka Dotter, Margaret and Pagan Fury especially.

I think Mendes and Anna will go to the final. As a swed I try to figer out how people will vote. Last weak was easier. I think that Mendes will do better than people think. Last time his voice was… well … not on point at all. But we loved the latino rythem. I think it’s not impossibly that Mendes go to the final., I liked Anna’s song better last year, but I think most swedes will like this song more. It’s only Anna’s voice that is unik. I love Anna and the song is ok… but too similar… Read more »

Not feeling either Dotter or Paul. But, I’ll be surprised if both of them are completely eliminated here. I can see one of them missing out though.
I think Linda makes it into that top four! I mean, I know she’s offered up plenty of duds at Melfest previously…but in a weaker heat, her song sounds good enough to stay alive.

granny and paul to the final, linda and méndez to second chance. i hope dotter gets another no from sweden, she really needs to find her own style.

I’ll be happy to see either Anna, Paul or Linda go straight to the final, with one of them and Klara in Andra Chansen. Dotter’s staging looks amazing, but I’m just not really feeling the song.

I can sense this is gonna be a similar situation as with Tempo last year for one of the highest voted for songs in online polling. Most likely Bulletproof.

I loved “cry” but I don’t think that most of those who share my taste are the ones that look at all the semis here in Sweden- and if they did they definitely didn’t downloaded the app. They were just angry that she didn’t managed to go to the final or second chance. Cry was one of my favourite that year. I think this song has a better chance whith the Swedish audience – although the song was a little of a disappointment to me after cry. I think this song is more ordinary but the type of songs more… Read more »

Agreed Gunilla. I don’t know why but it felt so wrong she at least didn’t get to AC that year. I’m hoping she does a little better this year, but agree Cry was also one of my favourites that year.

To be honest, all of these songs sound somewhat bland at the moment, but I’ll hold out till we hear the whole songs. 1. Paul Rey (it starts off sounding all too familiar but his voice carries emotion and near the end of the 1 minute clip the subtle changes in the melody intrigue me) 2. Dotter (interesting voice but the chorus is too derivative of Sia for this to excite me) 3. Jan Johansen (not my cup of tea but it’s actually kind of sweet) 4. Anna Bergendahl (too cheesy for my taste, it’s neither good nor bad) 5.… Read more »

Dotter left the biggest impression on me “Bulletproof” would blend in brilliantly as a Bond theme, I really enjoyed the snippets from Klara & Anna as well, gonna wait to hear “Talking in my Sleep” in full to get the full judgement, Paul Rey has a brilliant discography of songs and I don’t wanna be disappointed. Mendez & Alvaro have a good fun song too, Linda isn’t bad and that snippet of Thorsten left me bored af but I’m hoping Jan Johansen, a fiercely talented vocalist(and my winner of ESC 1995) will at least glow the song up a bit,… Read more »

My bets are Anna and Paul to the final.

Mendez and one more act to andra chansen. I cant decide the other

I think this semi can go in many directions because there’s no standout act.
If I need to predict I would say Paul Rey dtf with another surprising act,and Anna to Andra chansen.

Well the song is decent but the performance actually makes the song much better in her case

Anna and Anna. The dancers seem to help her loosen up. I would not have picked black clothing and staged it way more colorfully but oh well, the most important thing is that it won’t be stiff like last year. ‘Ashes to Ashes’ was the best song but so difficult to perform.

I actually love the black staging. The lighting really helps give the performance seem more striking. I think it helps legitimize the song too and helps it seem less camp than it could.

Anna certainly looks a lot better than last year.
