The Glow Babies are about to get lit: Their queen NikkieTutorials has been named online presenter of Eurovision 2020!

NikkieTutorials — real name Nikkie de Jager — is the world’s most influential beauty vlogger. Owing to her winning personality and ability to unlock the power of make-up, she’s amassed 13 million subscribers on YouTube and nearly 14 million followers on Instagram. She’s so good at her craft that A-list celebs including Lady Gaga,Kim Kardashian and Jessie J have all called on her to work her magic. They got that Nikkie glow!

Now she’s turning her well-manicured hands and winning personality to the song festival.

NikkieTutorials: Eurovision Song Contest online host

According to the EBU’s official statement, Nikkie is going to be one very busy woman.

“The Netherlands’ most famous internet star, makeup artist NikkieTutorials (Nikkie de Jager) will report on the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam via our online channels. She will also record a special backstage YouTube series with the participating artists, report from the red carpet during the Opening Ceremony and will be seen at all 3 live shows.”

Given that Moroccanoil — one of the world’s leading beauty brands — is the official sponsor, we expect that Nikkie will be unleashing the power of argan oil very soon.

NikkieTutorials: Make-up guru to #OpenUp at the Eurovision song festival

Nikkie’s selection ultimately comes down to her ease in front of the camera, likability and, of course, her massive following. But choosing Nikkie also fits with the broader theme of the 2020 contest: #OpenUp.

In recent weeks Nikkie was thrust into an even brighter spotlight when people attempted to blackmail her, threatening to reveal that she is a transgender woman. In their twisted logic she was “lying” to the world. In reality, coming out as transgender is a deeply personal decision. Nikkie has said she planned to tell the world eventually — and on her own terms — but then some baddie forced the issue.

Well Nikkie knows that she writes her story and she bravely came out as a transgender woman in a deeply moving Youtube video. It’s now amassed more than 33 million views and she’s subsequently appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show, living her truth in perhaps the most public way possible. And guess what, blackmailers? All this has done is endear Nikkie to the public even more. She responded to the shade in the most beautiful way possible: By sharing her story and heart with her followers.

The acceptance that Nikkie has felt — and the inspiration she has provided to people living in similar shoes — dovetails so nicely with this year’s theme of sharing and caring.

Our readers will be thrilled with today’s news. Nikkie placed second in our poll late last year, which asked you guys who you wanted to see host the Eurovision Song Contest.

Her enthusiasm for the show is so real that she even shared our online poll in October, along with a series of emojis: fingers crossed, shining heart, star.

Are you excited that NikkieTutorials will be backstage at Eurovision? Are you ready for her to work the red carpet? Let us know in the comments box down below!

Love Nikkie, I’ve noticed her comments on Eurovision songs in the past, so I’m glad she gets to do something with the contest. She has loads of American fans (myself included) who might discover the contest through her.

I’m so moved by her story, she’s such a beautiful and strong person. I have no doubt Nikkie is gonna be amazing in this role, she’s practically cut out for that job – her English is really good, she’s got the charisma and I’m sure every participant is gonna have a great time talking with her. Best of luck in May!

She basically will do all types of interviews, fun videos, behind the scene videos, maybe even the interviews at the golden carpet which will be uploaded on the Eurovision youtube channel and their other Social media accounts

Will it be actually posted to official Eurovision channel or to national tv channels? Because there is already guy/team for official channel who does it all these years.

She said in a Dutch TV program that Edsilia will present in the green room, but Nikkie will appear there too (she did not tell what she will do, and to what extent)

Good for her. I just hope the writers this time won’t use her being transgender and will treat her like any other regular person. Last year it was very cringy to watch that gay host talking about being gay and about his husband during literally EVERY break…Like, nobody cares..

I didn’t mind the host talking about being gay, but honestly I have a feeling Tel Aviv really wanted to push their pro lgbtq+ stance to kinda market the city to gay tourists. They new that a lot of gay people watched the show and they wanted to prove that the city was gay-friendly. They also had the threat of losing viewership due to boycotting, so they probably wanted to appear “unproblematic” or “progressive” to keep people watching. The Netherlands definitely will have gay stuff, but since the country is well-known for being lgbtq+ friendly (and doesn’t have a moral… Read more »

This host in particular was embodiment of cringe. Like when he was thinking that mocking Cyprus because they were 2nd last year would make him funny (and he did it at least 2 times). Also his comments towards Miki were painful to hear. He’s really good looking, I can see, but if he couldn’t stop being annoying for 5 minutes why would anyone pick him as a host.

Sweden 2016 had gay jokes here and there too, but it wasn’t nearly as forced as in Israel.
