The iconic Swedish selection, Melodifestivalen 2020, continues with their third semi-final in Luleå on February 15. Thanks to Melodifestivalklubben’s audience poll, conducted at Friday’s jury rehearsal, we now have a clue as to which acts will end up going to the final. Mohombi and Anis Don Demina emerged as the audience’s top two favourites, suggesting we will see them heading direkt till final on Saturday night.

Melodifestivalklubben — the Swedish chapter of the OGAE fan network — polled exactly 800 audience members at the Scandinavium during the rehearsal, asking “Who was your favourite tonight?”

The semi-final audience was mostly families with children, with Mohombi and Faith Kakembo being the two fake qualifiers who got to perform their song for the second time.

Leading the results was a familiar face, Mohombi, who will sing “Winners”. The returning act picked up 241 votes for his song, 30% of the total.

Not far behind was another returning act that’ll go solo this time around, Anis Don Demina. The “Vem e som oss” singer received 232 votes, giving him 29% of the total, suggesting he will go direkt as well. Will his return lead to a better result this time around?

In third place — this audience’s andra chansen qualifier — was Drängarna with “Piga & dräng”. There was a notable gap between the two winners above, with 119 votes — 15% of the overall total. This suggests the country-style dansband will gain a spot in the second chance round.

Rounding out the top four was fan favourite Mariette. The “Shout it Out” singer picked up 108 votes, 14% of the total. This suggests that 2020 will be the first Melfest edition the beloved singer will not qualify directly to the final, instead having to face Andra Chansen.

At the bottom of the poll was Faith Kakembo‘s “Crying Rivers” with 50 votes (6%), P4 Nästa’s wildcard Amanda Aasa‘s “Late” with 32 votes (4%) and lastly, Albin Johnsén‘s “Livet börjar nu” with 18 votes (2%)

Melodifestivalklubben audience poll results – Melodifestivalen 2020 semi-final 3 – Luleå

1. Mohombi – Winners (241 votes – 30%)
2. Anis Don Demina – Vem e som oss (232 votes – 29%)
3. Drängarna – Piga & dräng (119 votes – 15%)
4. Mariette – Shout It Out (108 votes – 14%)
5. Faith Kakembo – Crying Rivers (50 votes – 6%)
6. Amanda Aasa – Late (32 votes – 4%)
7. Albin Johnsén – Livet börjar nu (18 votes – 2%)

With a sample size this small, there’s no way of telling if this audience poll will predict the exact results for Saturday.

While previous predictions have been accurate or at least close, their results are not gospel. Last week’s poll had Mendez and Alvaro Estrella as the most popular act in the semi, however on the night, they went on to andra chansen. Dotter ended up qualifying directly after placing third in the poll.

Nonetheless — it’s a good measure to take into account going into the deltavling.

What do you think? Does the audience poll predict semi-final success for Mohombi and Anis? Tell us your thoughts below!

Yesterday I though something different bt with this poll in mind I think it would be this: FINAL Mariette – “Shout It Out” Mohombi – “Winners” ANDRA CHANSEN Faith Kakembo – “Crying Rivers” Anis don Demina – “Vem är som oss” I don’t get why Mohombi won. “Winners” is uplifting but the chorus melody and beat sound like Gunther’s “Love Yourself” from UMK 2017. The staging is like Armenia’s “Qami”. Sweden copying a staging is weird, but Swedish viewers and producers backing it is even more weird. Maybe it is because all options here are average. None of them looks… Read more »

In my opinion Mariette deserves DTF, but only because of a very weak semi

I’m not fan of Mohombi’s live vocals – the song itself is ok, but only in the studio version. Anis is… adorkable.
Mariette is my winner of this semifinal so far, I guess and Drängarna sound ok, but seems to me like they are holding back or something and I want more crazy fun with this type of song.
The rest… well I guess I kinda like Amanda.

Maybe take Albin out and all of the songs are of a “Pretty good, not great” similar standard. It literally could be anyone going through. I don’t yet buy that Faith is going to miss out completely though.

Let British people work out their British business and don’t make assumptions based on what one possible-idiot posts on your NF page of Wiwibloggs. Let’s stick to the music, yeah?

Lol someone needs to chill. All selections have good and bad songs. This semi is weak. Deal with it

This semi is still better than Moldovan, finnish or slovenian selection so deal with it. (And yes this semi is also weak), but its not that bad like it was before 2015. I think people have just a big expectations. …

Personally, I’m swedish btw, I find about 4-5 songs I REALLY like among 28 songs. Before they were 32 competing songs. And 1-2 I want to stand as winners in the end. All the others are just ok or not for me. And that’s how it’s always been for me. This year seem no different. It’s impossible to have about 5 great songs in one semifinal that everybody loves.. Impossible!
I do complain about the non-excisting and tasteless humor among the hosts. But it’s not their fault it’s the team that writes the damn thing.
