Diodato Sanremo 2020 Winner Italy Eurovision

It’s just over a week since the iconic festival closed shop for another year. But if the latest chart figures are anything to go by, Sanremo has yet to loosen its grip on the Italian general public.

In an amazing feat of dominance, the musical spectacular lays claim to the number one spot in the latest FIMI chart, as well as nine of the top ten tracks and 26 of the top 100.

Sanremo 2020 in the Italian charts

Diodato “Fai rumore” at number one

Unsurprisingly, the competion’s winner Diodato is the highest charting entry with “Fai rumore”. Both the performer and song will represent Italy at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam.

Time will tell whether Diodato can match his predecessor in terms of chart success. Mahmood’s “Soldi” has gone four times platinum in Italy and was the fourth best-selling song of 2019 in the country.

Sanremo 2020 songs in the top ten

In fact, it’s almost a Sanremo clean sweep in the top ten. At two and three, we have the other podium finishers — Francesco Gabbani’s “Viceversa” and Pinguini Tattici Nucleari’s “Ringo Starr”.

Also gracing the highest echelons of the chart are Achille Lauro, Elettra Lamborghini, Elodie, newcomer contestant Fasma, Levante and Le Vibrazioni.

Several more acts from the Festival are dotted throughout the official 100.

And it’s not just in the singles chart — the album chart is topped by the Festival di Sanremo 2020 compilation album while new LPs from several of the competing performers appear elsewhere in the countdown.

Love at first sight/listen. Will remain my favorite entry until May, there’s no way something else can crawl into my skin like this one did. Well done, Italia!

“Time will tell whether Diodato can match his predecessor in terms of chart success.”
No need to wait, I’ll tell you right away: absolutely not. Cause the song is easily forgettable (btw, it’ll get lost among the other 30 ballad entries for eurovision) and definitely not as strong, and has zero replay-button-smashing power.
I’m already waiting for sanremo 2021.

Glad Francesco Gabbani did well at #2, yet Elettra being #5 despite doing poorly in the Sanremo televote is something weird. I thought she’d do well with the televote but she didn’t

nice solid italian song – well made and a really good singer …..but nothing that screams “winner” for me. Should be in the top 10 for sure – but I don’t see that song win the ESC 2020.

If even the Sanremo winner could not get no.1 in Italy, there would be a problem…

the sanremo winner usually goes #1, this was no different. i wonder how long it’ll take for a gold certification (35k units sold – remember only premium streams divided by 130 and digital downloads count)

Don’t go too fast. This is good news but still, this is Italian people liking the Italian entry (and other songs from the festival). Don’t need to be booking those plane tickets just yet!
