The Roop Eurovision 2020 Lithuania ON Fire

It’s taken four weeks. But y’all finally have a new favourite act of Eurovision 2020 so far! And following a week in which they rose to second in the odds and out streamed both The Weeknd and Billie Eilish, it’s hardly a surprise to learn that that act is Lithuania’s The Roop.

The Roop is your favourite Eurovision 2020 act so far

Since Monday, a massive 14,076 votes were cast in our poll. Approximately one-third of those went to the Pabandom iš naujo! winners — 4,701 votes. They’re quite literally “On Fire”.

After three weeks, Albania’s Arilena Ara has been knocked off her throne. Nonetheless, she still managed to rack up an impressive 2,323 votes. That means 16.5% of all votes cast went to “Shaj”.

In third, we have yet another newcomer — Norway’s Ulrikke Brandstorp with “Attention”. She picked up 1,692 votes or 12.02% of all votes cast.

In fourth, we have the Sanremo 2020 winner Diodato with “Fai Rumore”. He attracted 8.52% of all the votes cast, which amounts to 1,199.

Only one other act hit four digits — Australia’s Montaigne. “Don’t Break Me” saw 1,057 ballots cast in its favour or 7.51% of all votes cast.

At the other end of the table is France’s Tom Leeb and Czech Republic’s Benny Cristo.

Thankfully, this isn’t a knockout bout. The eleven will return to the ring once again when we relaunch the poll on Sunday. They’ll be joined by new entries from Ukraine, Slovenia and Poland.

What do you think of the current standings? Does Lithuania deserve to be at number one? Let us know below.

I do like the song, but I also feel that I will grow tired of it quickly. It’s so “in your face” that it is the opposite of a grower in a way.

1.Lithuania is the stand out act here! It has the full package and will get top 10 for sure.
2.czech republic is sooo underrated.. I do think he is a sure qualifier.
3.italy is personally in my top 3 and I think he has a good chance to make into the top 10.
4. although I like some of them, I just don’t think the rest of the songs will make any impact.

I love the Lithuanian entry very much. it ´s a real feel-good-song, until now, the only one this year. eurovision needs this so much.
no matter what the poll results say, no matter, what bookmakers say ( today the roop went to no.1 ). Just enjoy it, or, if it´s not your cup of tea, listen to other entries.
to me…..the heat is getting higher. Good luck Lithuania. Greetings from germany.

On Fire is really the most overrated entry in recent history. #1 in betting odds too lol 😀 Y’all will end up looking like CLOWNS when it flops in May and I can’t wait. Lithuanian fans are really the new Spanish huh. The song is just okay, not even top 10 material

The hype around that entry doesnt even seem genuine. Make Me Human was literally the fan favorite to win the NF and now suddenly everyone thinks On Fire is so much better when they saw the numbers of votes the Roop got and how hard Lithuanians are stanning. Well too bad Lithuanians can’t vote for their own country (unless diaspora)… Make Me Human was top 5 material, On Fire is not, y’all just bunch of bandwagoners lol

As a Monique fan myself, I don’t understand your hate towards The Roop. They won by a landslide, just deal with it. Monique literally has all the chances to win next year. As much as I’ve wanted for her to win, she still lacks confidence and needs to grow as an artist. And she’ll benefit from that experience. Only love.

Why are you so mad? Yes, only a third of all songs has dropped, but let people like what they like. I get not liking the song, but waiting for it to flop? C’mon man. (Nevermind just saw your other comment. Guess you were rooting for Monique. Fair enough.)

“On Fire” is a guilty pleasure. You listen to it 20 times in a row and can’t even feel like you’re hitting repeat again and again. I’m also so amused by the performance that I don’t only listen to the song, most of the times I’m also re-watching the stage performance. It’s insane, this song ticks all the boxes: it’s ultra modern, yet has an alieny 80’s vibe; it carries a nice social message, but not too in-your-face political statement; and finally, the performance is just another level.

If you want a true guilty pleasure, check out Lithuania’s 2006 entry we are the winners—That song got sixth place, Which is the current highest position for Lithuania at eurovision.

You don’t get 1.4 million views in a week (!) just by being a mere guilty pleasure song.

It must be a relief when the favourite is not a SLOW song… It’s like reaching for hope at the end of a tunnel where everybody just wanna have fun and not listen to great songs … Ladies and gentlemen … Eurovision!

While I like “On Fire”, I think people is overrating it. Like they need to find a winner desperately. I also get Lithuanian are happy to have a fan favourite at last. As I said, it is a good song and will probably and deservedly place in the top 10. But I can’t consider it a winner. The hype over certain songs is shocking. Albania there is kind of a bad joke. Also Norway… good but just good like some other ballads we have had in Eurovision. Italy is always overrated so I’m not surprised. About the others, the Czech… Read more »

I get your point, and after this weekend is over we still have 27 songs to drop so it is kind of hard to say who is going to be a possible winner. But at the same time, you got to have something really special if you reach 1.4 million views within a week after you upload on the official Eurovision channel. When I look up reaction videos to on fire, those videos reach tens of thousands, if not hundreds, of use on those channels, even more than some of the other competitors. I don’t know if Lithuania will actually… Read more »

Yeah, can’t disagree with you there. I think it will get a top five position short of winning, which would truly be Lithuania’s best position ever because the highest they have ever reached was sixth place in 2006 with the song, appropriately enough, ‘We are the Winners.”
