Four places remain up for grabs in the final of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2020. And on Saturday the eight acts who qualified to Andra Chansen will compete in a series of duels to grab the last few grand final slots. The winner of each duel will head to the final at Friends Arena in Stockholm on March 7.
The duel partners were announced last Saturday. It is ensured that no acts from the same semi-final will compete against each other and that an act that placed third in a semi-final is paired against an act that came fourth in another.
But the competing acts are only part of the entertainment.
Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame
The 2020 Andra Chansen will be an extended show compared to previous years. Not only will the last few finalists be decided, but SVT is also broadcasting the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame gala.
Melodifestivalen senior producer Christer Björkman says that the Hall of Fame is a way of honouring the festival’s history. He explained, “The winners are not always remembered in the festival’s history. There is so much else we want to honour.”
During the semi-finals of Melodifestivalen 2020 the viewers have been introduced to 48 acts that have contributed to the festival’s history in one way or another. Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame aims to celebrate the all-time great moments of the broadcaster’s flagship song contest.
SVT has released the full list of artists and laureates that will be performing during the evening. So get ready for a nostalgic evening as 20 of the 48 acts will make an appearance on Saturday’s show.
The Eurovision winner Loreen will take the stage with a mash up of her three entries in Melodifestivalen “My Heart Is Refusing Me”, “Euphoria” and “Statements”.
Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw will duet with Lill Lindfors — best known as the host who lost her skirt at Eurovision Song Contest 1985. The legendary Tomas Ledin and Björn Skifs are also performing together on the same stage for the first time ever.
Furthermore, Alcazar will reunite for the occasion, just months after they split for good.

Are you excited for the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame? Let us know below!
Weird there’s no mention of ABBA in this so called Hall of Fame
Sweden is a small country. Bless them.
So…..what does everyone have against Måns? He’s a good singer and I enjoy his most recent songs. Loreen will be the diamond of the night I’m sure. And it’s good to see comebacks of those from the past.
Oh, God! This selection is longer than Dynasty! Just pick a damn song and get real!
Bless him but it would be bigger news if Måns Zelmerlow were NOT to perform at Andra Chansen or any other event along the same lines.
I wanna know if the Hall of fame is an actual hall people can visit or just something metaphorical, as in only exist on paper?
No, it doesn’t actually exist – not yet, anyway.
So does about every other country. Everyone is copying something that people have already heard. Is Romania original? No? Icelands songs? No. I can relate to other songs with 99% of the eurovision-songs. What’s original these days? At the end of the day it’s coming down to personal preferences.
You are right, but nothing is original these days, and this should not be a problem. The difference is made by a good singer who should be able to convert something not original – into something very personal. Was Conchita’s song original? No, but it was personal! Was Duncan’s song original? No! But it was personal! It’s like when you buy a house. You buy an original, but than you paint the walls, change the furniture, and make it personal!
No award for Fredrik Kempe?
That’s true. The event should have taken place ten years ago if it’s not a victory in esc. Kempe has had his largest successes more recent then that. But he will probably be nominated in upcoming years.
I love this, I can’t wait. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of Andra Chansen because it’s all stuff we’ve seen before, we generally know who will win the duels, and we have to listen to each winner yet again – but this will be great! I wonder what Karin Falck is performing, as she is generally just a host. For me, it would be perfect if Lena Philipsson was also performing, she’s given us at least three Melodifestivalen classics – but we can’t have everything.
Karin Falck will host the Hall of fame gala
Excited for the Loreen mashup.
Loreen Will perform în Romania next day after this
Just a little clarification: Anders Berglund only ever composed one Mello entry. His real contribution was being musical director for many editions and conducting several Swedish entries at Eurovision. One of them was their winning entry from 1991, which led to him being musical director for 1992 (and, besides conducting the Swedish entry by a young man named Christer Bjorkman, he also led the orchestra for Yugoslavia’s final Eurovision entry while playing accordion at the same time!)
Also Bert Karlsson isn’t a songwriter, he’s a behind-the-scenes executive – the man who discovered Carola!
