The penultimate show of Melodifestivalen 2020 takes place later today. Eight acts are set to battle it out in Andra Chansen. They’re all hoping to secure one of the four tickets to the grand final next week.

Earlier this week, we asked you to vote for who you wanted to win each of the Andra Chansen duels.

After counting over 1,700 votes in each of the polls, we can reveal that you voted the following four acts as your duel winners:

  1. Ellen Benediktson & Simon Peyron
  2. Malou Prytz
  3. Felix Sandman
  4. Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella

But, could any of the other acts be nipping at the heels of these four? Read on to find out how close each of the polls were.

Poll results: Who should win each Andra Chansen duel in Melodifestivalen 2020?

Duel 1: Anis don Demina vs Ellen Benediktson & Simon Peyron

The styles  involved here are highly contrasting. Anis don Demina brings the upbeat track “Vem e som oss”, while duo Ellen Benediktson & Simon Peyron take things down a notch for their ballad “Surface”.

This first duel was the tightest of the four in regards to results. In the end, Ellen and Simon edged into first place with 56.87% of the vote – that’s 968 votes out of a total of 1,702.

Anis still earned a solid number of votes, picking up 734 (43.13%). This result contrasts with the audience poll from last night’s rehearsal, who chose Anis as their favourite. It will be interesting to see whether Sweden are in the mood to dance or get emotive during the first duel this evening.

Duel 2: Malou Prytz vs Paul Rey

Duel number two sees two pop ballads go up against each other.

Malou Prytz danced her way to victory in this poll. A total of 1,815 votes were cast and her song “Ballerina” picked up 68.54% of them (i.e. 1,244 votes).

Meanwhile, Paul Rey earned 571 votes for his entry “Talk in My Sleep”. That’s 31.46% of the total number of votes cast.

Duel 3: Felix Sandman vs Frida Öhrn

There’s a stark contrast in musical style in duel number three as well. However, there’s also a clear favourite to win from the 1,807 votes cast in total for this poll.

It seems y’all are definite in wanting Felix Sandman to progress to the Melfest grand final. The star secured 76.37% of the votes (1,380 specifically) for his song “Boys With Emotions”.

Frida Öhrn was sadly left trailing almost 1,000 votes behind Sandman. You awarded “We Are One” 427 votes, which is 23.63%.

Duel 4: Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella vs Drängarna

Latin American meets Swedish folk in the fourth and final duel of Andra Chansen. Both acts are hoping to get the audience up and dancing to their entry, but only one can earn a ticket to next week’s grand final.

In the end, it was Méndez and Alvaro Estrella who picked up the most votes from our readers. Out of a total of 1,707 votes, “Vamos Amigos” secured 63.27% of them. That’s equal to 1,080 votes.

Drängarna are set to close the show this evening. However, in this poll their entry “Piga och Dräng” only picked up 36.73% of the votes – 627 votes. If a similar result comes to pass later today, that unfortunately means the group would be eliminated from the competition.

There are only 2 songs that are really competitive: Anna Bergendahl’s Kingdom Come and Robin Bengtsson’s song. I hope to see Anna Bergendahl in Amsterdam at Eurovision in Concert and in Rotterdam at Eurovision! ?

I’m torn in duel 2, I will be sad either way because one of them will not be in the final, being the two best songs tonight for me. In duel 4 I want Drängarna to win, it is my guilty pleasure! In duel 1 I’m not really into any of the songs, so I will be cool with whoever wins, good luck to both. And from duel 3, I’m sticking to We are one. I hate Felix’s song, and even his incredible staging can’t save it. Frida really sells her song and although she wouldn’t win if she reached… Read more »

i feel like the only obvious one here is anis don demina, he’s too successful in the charts to not make it. the other three are very unpredictable, even the early favorite felix sandman isn’t safe.

Don¨t get why Paul Rey is so underrated here. A very good song! Interesting personality. Much more interesting than the balnd Malou prytz who has a song anybody could sing.

you’re acting like “talking in my sleep” is some groundbreaking masterpiece which is not. they’re two very generic songs lmao, ppl here just prefer malou’s.

I personally find “Boys with Emotions” a bit silly, but it IS different.

different? sonically, it would fit on justin bieber’s new universally panned album. ironic how a song prompting boys to show their emotions is the most emotionless and flattest piece of music i’ve heard in a while.

It’s not different in the actual world of music, but it’s different from the other songs in the lineup
