dansk-melodi-grand-prix-2020-denmark-eurovision

Denmark is all geared up to start the search for Leonora’s successor.

On March 7, ten hopefuls compete in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix to win the ticket to carry the Danish flag at Eurovision.

The Danish broadcaster, DR, has played things differently this year. The ten-singer final remains the same, but half of acts have been preselected to go to the final, while the other half went through a wildcard radio competition organized by P4.

Only one act can win the right to represent Denmark at Eurovision 2020. And we want to know who’s your favourite to win. Listen to the ten competing entries below and vote for your favourite. As always, you can vote for as many acts as you like, but you can only vote once — so choose wisely.

Ben & Tan – “Yes”

Benjamin Kissi – “Faith”

Emil – “Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig”

Isam B – “Bølger”

Jamie Talbot – “Bye Bye Heaven”

Jasmin Rose feat. RoxorLoops – “Human”

Kenny Duerlund – “Forget it All”

Maja & De Sarte Sjæle – “Den eneste goth i Vejle”

Sander Sanchez – “Screens”

Sys Bjerre – “Honestly”

Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020

For the show’s 50th edition, the final show will return to Copenhagen for the first time since 2008. It will be hosted by actress Hella Joof and actor Rasmus Bjerg. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 takes place on March 7 at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen. The show will air live from 7pm on DR.

The 2020 selection also saw the introduction of a preliminary round. Three district-based semi-finals were held with three acts in each semi. The winners of each heat were determined by online public votes from radio listeners, while two wildcards were chosen by an expert panel. The following acts did not progress beyond this stage:

Nick Jones – “2AM”
SamSara – “For You”
Søren Okholm – “Impossible Dreamers”
Mielou – “We Could Be So Beautiful”

Who is your favourite in DMGP 2020? Which act and song do you think would be best for Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below!

My last NF to rate before it’s over. It was about time to get to this one. I know I’m in a minority, but my favorite is Emil. His song is so emotional and speaks to me the most. But I also ”say yes” to Ben & Tan.

Judging by the general fan response, it’s probably between Say Yes and Human, but who knows if Denmark will vote accordingly.

Honestly Denmark has a good selection this year. Yes, Human, Forget it All, Den eneste goth i vejle… all great options for representing them. For You was great too, sad it didn’t make the cut for the final.

I’d go for either Yes or Human for a really good result, though!

Human has a really good chance of becoming this year’s Look Away, but Yes can become this years Story of my Life. Either all.

Personally, I think “Yes” is a good song but both “Human” and “Forget it All” are better. I get a cute couple with an uplifting song sells a lot but “Forget it All” is way more uplifting while “Human” has more potential for staging. The live performance and the Danish audience will have the last word though. I also like a lot “Den eneste goth i Vejle”. That 80s soft rock sound and the melody is pure nostalgia even though I didn’t get to live those years. All in all, I think Denmark should be proud this year. My top:… Read more »

My number 1 before saturday is still forget it all
I have loved it since day one.. I just hope the live performance will kick it and bring the song justice
But right behind i got YES Human and screens
But i think its tough this year.. We got a great selection of songs.. Like i wish we could send 3 or something.. Hopefully the live performances will make the choice a bit easier

“Den Eneste Goth I Vejle” is by far my favorite here, I’ve been listening to it so much lately. Would instantly be my new #1 if chosen! Loving the 80s Manchester rock sound

OMG if this would win in Denmark and Gerbera would win in Portugal, Eurovision would be literally saved this year. i need to be rooting for something this year damnnn….especially in semi final 2 i wanna send some votes, last year i had Portugal, Slovenia and Iceland, this year still nothing good or worthy to support.

Totally agree, if they pick tan and Ben then it’s def off to Denmark next year, human is a good song aswell but won’t be able to compete at eurovision with Romania, Iceland or Lithuania’s entries.

Ben and Tan’s is in all honesty the ONE AND ONLY song in aaaalll the selections I can picture myself (and everybody)wave and singing along, winning and having the confetti dropped. In my opinion : the only winning material all together. there’s not much competition, If they send them, it’s coopenhagen 2021 for sure. Maybe not some of the previous years, but this year it’s obvious.

Difficult choice a lot of nice songs! “Yes” is really radio friendly and, Human has this old school 00’s dance vibe which Im here for, and also there is “DEN ENESTE GOTH I VEJLE” which is also very different and really strikes deep. Anyway enough to choose from :)!

“yes” sounds like most songs denmark has sent to esc since 1999 (they’re by far the most unidirectional esc country), plus it sounds like of monsters and men. “human” should win, it’s not groundbreaking but it’d be different from them.

Well done Denmark…….Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is normally the Scandinavian national selection that i least enjoy….i find it ” safe” and uninteresting as a rule but this year you have surpassed yourself……..there is no song here that i dislike with a passion, and probably 6 that i do like….however, there was 1 song that grabbed my attention and when I’d listened to all 10 , had to go back and listen to again….. Isam B and “Bølger”…….this surprised me…..i haven’t a clue what he is singing about but the simplicity and authenticity of this song, grabbed me…….in the style of… Read more »

No, its not about his father. I think you mean Emil’s song which is about how he wish he knew his grandfather who died before he got to know him (also really beautiful lyrics actually). The lyrics for Bølger are amazing and is about that “his color” does not define him. Loosely translated the main point of the lyrics is: “I am myself not my color. What is color but waves of light”. “Bølger” means waves. I am Danish and love this song by Isam B (who is also a well-known name in Denmark as he was part of the… Read more »

The song is about his childhood and i guess many others how many looked at his skincolor
It says “i have never been me, i have always been my color. What is color other then the place where the waves of light is meeting”
The color dosnt define a person.. There are a person behind the color
Which he turns around in the last chorus of the song saying ” i have always been myself, i have never been my color…”

Emils song is about his grand dad who he never got to meet but things around him makes him think about him and who he was and stuff and he wish that he had meet him 🙂

So Isam is singing about be defriend and his life growing up as Middle Eastern in a country were most of the population is white. In the chorus he also sings
“I’ve always been myself I’ve never been my colour
What is colour besides the place where the wave of light meets”

It is all about Yes and Human.
I prefer Human because it stands more out this year and it is more fun.
But I think it will be Yes because there will be a jury voting in both voting rounds.
Most probably the jury will vote for Yes instead for Human.
But Yes is actually a really good song, too
