On February 25th we explained why we wanted to see Senhit competing at the Eurovision Song Contest again. And now we are pleased to announce that our wish has been granted.

Senhit confirmed the news to Wiwibloggs during an exclusive ride in the London Eye overlooking the Thames. She told our William that she wants fans to choose between two songs: FREAKY and OBSESSED.

“I decided to do this because I’m super confused,” she says in our video below. “I’m FREAKY about one song and I’m super OBSESSED about the other song. So let the followers decide for us.”

“For me Eurovision was a very big opportunity in 2011. I have beautiful memories about that contest. So when San Marino called me and asked me to do it again I was super glad and super happy to say YES.”

“But I’ve decided to say thanks to all the fans that have followed me since then, to do this kind of game, to do this digital battle. It’s like a gift to the fans to choose which song I can sing for the Eurovision 2020 Song Contest.”

Senhit to represent San Marino at Eurovision 2020

San Marino RTV has made it official that the Italian singer of Eritrean origin will fly the flag of the small republic in Rotterdam.

Forty-year-old Senhit Zadik Zadik participated at Eurovision 2011 with the smooth ballad “Stand By”. Then spelling her name Senit, she failed to make it to the final.

Nine years after that experience, she returns to the song contest with a renewed image and style, ready to offer an explosive performance and to reach a third grand final for San Marino after Valentina Monetta in 2014 and Serhat in 2019.

Senhit won’t be alone in this adventure. Behind her is Luca Tommassini — for years one of the leading names in Italian show business — who she’s chosen as creative director for this year’s Sammarinese participation.

About Senhit

Senhit was born and raised in Bologna to Eritrean parents. She began her career at the age of 20, in the world of musicals, performing in German-speaking countries in shows such as “Fame” and “The Lion King”.

The singer has released several albums and an EP, and has a long list of singles, both in Italian and English. Among the most recent ones are “Something on your mind“, “Un bel niente” and “Heart ache“.

Senhit is a multi-faceted talent, who has lived in various cities around the world and has approached many different styles of music. Her oeuvre spans Italian pop to ballads, rock, country, electropop, house, dance and soul.

Beyond music Senhit is also a YouTuber. For a couple of years, she has been publishing short vlogs on her channel. These include fashion tips and backstage extracts from her projects.

Senhit is an Italian voice with an international background, who does not forget to celebrate her African roots. It’s the perfect combination for a Eurovision that’s chosen the slogan #OpenUp.

About Luca Tommassini

Luca Tommassini is an Italian choreographer, director and dancer with international experience.

He has toured with many superstars, including Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston and Kylie Minogue. He also appeared in official videos such as Madonna’s “Human Nature” and Michael Jackson’s “Blood on the Dance Floor” and choreographed Geri Halliwell in “Mi chico latino” and “It’s Raining Men”.

His CV includes an even longer list of products. Among the many, we remember the decade-long collaboration with X Factor Italy, of which he oversaw the artistic direction; the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008, The X Factor UK, X Factor Spain and popular Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi.

“Freaky!” or “Obsessed”?

Senhit’s fate is in your hands! For this participation, San Marino has decided to let the fans choose the song that she singer will perform in Rotterdam.

It’s up to you to decide between “Freaky!” and “Obsessed”, two tracks that reflect the modern style of the singer, now devoted to electro-pop.

You’ll have two full days to decide and vote HERE. Polls open on Saturday, March 7 at 09:00 CET and close on Sunday, March 8 at 23:59 CET.

Are you excited to see Senhit back at Eurovision for San Marino? Are you #TeamFreaky or #TeamObsessed? Let us know in the comments below!

Now the clues on Instagram make sense: You got the power = you help choose the entry and The last but not the least = they’ll probably be the last country to reveal their entry.

San Marino bringing up a preselection about three or four days before the headline. I love them, let’s make them win. Also thrilled to see Senhit coming back.

Let’s hope for more San Marino participations in the future! They deserve the love! Hopefully Andorra joins soon…

Omg San Marino is taking Luca Tommassini on the Eurovision stage o_o this alone is more than Italy has ever done at least since our comeback in 2011. I’m officially more excited for this rather than my own country!

I really like Senhit but the fact that she appears to have bought views on her music videos (1 million views with like 40 comments) is a little questionable. Hopefully this year’s competition gives her the boost she wants?

Senhit mentioned in another interview how happy she was to be in a contest with other black performers, as she was the only solo performer of color in 2011 (besides members of the groups representing Portugal and the UK). How times change, and for the better!

Michele and Anita are also Sanmarinese from what I can recall. Also IROL aka “Your Favorite Rapper from San Marino” who performed at 1in360.

Apart from that, I don’t know who else could be a future San Marinese entry, maybe the guy from Miodio alone (Nicola Della Valle) or the girl who represented San Marino at JESC 2015 (Kamilla Ismailova). Or who knows, we might even get Miss Monica Fabbri. LOL
