The final Super Saturday has arrived.
This evening – March 7 – the final four national selections of the season conclude. Here are all the details you’ll need to follow the action.
Eurofans can choose between four finals in Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Portugal. You’ll be able to follow all the results here on wiwibloggs, on Twitter and on Instagram. Below you’ll find a rundown on what happens when and where you can watch the shows.
March 7: Eurovision 2020 Selection Shows
Denmark’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020
Grand Final
Time: 20:00CET to 22:00CET
Denmark started the search for a Eurovision act in January, but the ultimate decision will take place in a single night spectacular. Tonight’s ten acts will be whittled down to one winner through two rounds of voting. The first round will see three acts advance to a superfinal based on combined jury and televoting. The jury and televoters will then pick Denmark’s act for Eurovision from the superfinal. Ben & Tan and Jasmin Rose feat. RoxorLoops are the favourites here.

Finland’s Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020
Grand Final
Time: 20:00CET to 21:50CET
For the first time since 2017, Finland has returned to an open national final for artists and songs. Six acts will share the stage for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020. Just the one round of voting in Finland. Eight international juries from across the continent and Finnish televoters will decide Finland’s act for Eurovision 2020. Erika Vikman is the favourite with fans and the bookies here.

Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2020
Grand Final
Time: 20:00CET to 22:00CET
Six weeks of Swedish spectacle draw to a close in Stockholm tonight. Almost 30,000 fans will be at Friends Arena to watch the 12 Melodifestivalen 2020 finalists in action. As in Finland, international juries will cast their votes and then have those combined with Swedish televoters. At this point Dotter is the frontrunner, but this feels a more fluid Melfest final than in previous years, so keep an eye on The Mamas, Hanna Ferm and Anna Bergendahl.

Portugal’s Festival da Canção 2020
Grand Final
Time: 22:00CET to 00:23CET
Last up on the last Super Saturday of the year is Portugal. The final of Festival da Canção is live from Elvas. Eight acts have made it here from the semi-finals and all will hope to take Portugal back to the Grand Final. To win the Portuguese ticket they’ll need the support of Portuguese televoters and regional jury panels. They’ll decide the outcome 50/50. This appears to be a two horse race, with Bárbara Tinoco just slightly ahead of Elisa on the eve of battle.

Well, thank you to all on this very entertaining Super Saturday.
None of my personal favourites won tonight, but it is not about the winning. It is about enjoying the music. 🙂
I think we know enough participating songs to say Portugal won’t qualify in May even from an open field SF2. Their only chance was to choose an up-tempo song which, if performed well, would have placed Portugal in TOP15. So much for drama. Only Azerbaijan, Malta, North Macedonia, Russia and San Marino left to found out until Monday morning EBU meeting. #EurovisionIsMovingTooFastCannotMissAChance
#PortugalWaitingForANewSalvadorin50yearsTime
The juries in Portugal knew who the real winner was…
Anyway I have a new favorite musician, Filipe Sambado
If it was not for the juries, Salvador would not have won Festival…
Seems like your Saturday got much better than you hoped for. 🙂
Sweden, Finland and Portugal all ditched the predicted favorites you didn’t like.
This time I was with the jury and for Sambado to win. I love this song and performance.
So we have another ballad? Eurovision 2020 is balladproof 😉
I like the winner song. The problem for Portugal will be with this decision that the song does not stand out enough, I think.
I also like it, but I don’t see Europe paying much attention to it.
I am glad the juri crowned Sambado and killed chances for Tinoco’s commercial-style song. Elisa winning is a collateral damage.
Beautiful song indeed, but I can’t see this song qualifying in May.
Cause that’s what we need – ANOTHER heartfelt ballad. Last ones to pick don’t care AT ALL about standing out, now do they?
Anyway, same as with Aksel, I really like Elisa’s song, but it’s really overcrowded in the slow tempo department, so some solid ones will have to be sidelined. Too bad.
Following in Duncan’s footsteps?
Sometimes I wish they’d just give us one set of votes. Having two layers just doubles amount of complaints.
It seems the juries’ job this year is to make Eurovision as bland as possible?
im just confused. angry and confused. but mainly confused. what the hell. the juries are delusional. im happy with elisa still but oh my god barbara deserved it a million times over.
Haha. Juries strike again.
Elisa won.
Elisa won, 20 points. Bárbara 18. The jury killed her.
Elisa apparently has won it
Twitter say yes
Say yes, say yes, say yes!
(sorry, reflex)
Elisa – 20 points
Bárbara (Passe-Partout) – 18 points
I think that’s what happened.
Lol they probably went over the allocated end time for the show so that’s why the feed went offline in the middle of the results…
Exactly, at midnight UK time
I can’t believe they geoblocked the streaming…
LOL I’ve just accessed the website, maybe it was my fault 😀
It seems it wasn’t geoblocking, but RTP Play going down. Read a tweet from a girl saying she had to run to the kitchen to find out the result.
And the feed went DARK!!
At this exact moment… RTP, this is cruel.
the stream broke for me smh
Me too.
Same
Elisa will probably win. Unless Tomás got more votes than her, which I don’t think it happened.
Welp, Elisa won. Another ballad, woohoo. Still beter than Filipe i guess
ouch rip to movimento
OMG! This is tense now
Owh this is too close, peoplez!
There might be a twist coming with the audience result. Mathematicians at the ready
LOL BARBARA CAN STILL TAKE IT
Juries:
Sambado 12
Elisa 10
Kady 8
Jimmy P 7
Throes 6
Bárbara 6
Sambado got only 4 from the televote. He’s out.
Throes got 5, also out.
Even before the results I had a gut feeling Elisa might be winning this. Me saying there’s too many quality ballads clashing and all that… :-\
Expecting Barbara to win the televote, with Elisa second and thus, winning on a combination.
You got it perfectly right, Colin.
Seems like 2020 left some of the favorite denials for the very last day. :-\
the very last jury region gave passe-partout the 12 points but she is still coming 6th.
lol they killed passe-partout… i wasn’t expecting an easy win but i wasn’t expecting a massacre.
NVM THEY SAVED HER AGAIN
Thanks for the reports. 2nd? 3rd?
Very close, Kady, Throes +The Shine, Elisa and Jimmy P fighting. The jury is killing Bárbara.
Too close to call for 2nd. But so far it’s Kady or Elisa 2nd, battling. Felipe Sambado clear lead
It seems Sambado will win the jury vote with ease. 12 points from the first 4 regions. But it’s hard to imagine him winning the televote, so being 2nd or 3rd with the juries wouldn’t be a bad deal for the others.
I’m nervous.
sorry
what is happening
Felipe Sambado is winning so far
but why
tfw when 3rd last in the polls starts getting all the 12 points
The polls are not Portugal
clearly.
IDK why, but this is another one I just cannot watch. It gives me an empty black screen and that’s it. Meh… I am loading this page to find out the results. I wonder was there an indication in public response on who’s the fan favorite?
Ooo the first results have Passe-Partout almost last! :O
And who is in the lead?
Felipe Sambado, so far
Hosts joking about the fact Finland had songs called “Cicciolina” and “Bananas” on their final. They said they feel bad for the parents that would now have to explain their kids what a Cicciolina is. I wonder if it became slang for something sexual in Portugal.
That is a possibility. Either that, or her name is as popular as “Madonna”, for example.
You don’t know who is cicciolina? she is an actress of adult content.lol
I loved the Telemoveis performance but haven’t they gone overtime at this point?
no, its a 3 hour show
Maybe the time on the article is wrong because its 00:30 CET time atm, i really don’t hope there is an extra hour lol
yes, its wrong
Website says… Programme completed! Well-spotted! Probably they just haven’t noticed, to be honest.
bahahah oh well, it will be over soon i guess. they look like they are close.
it ends at 01:23 CET
Finally, a version of “Telemoveis” without that awful out of tune microtone pitching. And live strings, wow. Loving Conan’s chain mask. 🙂
It bothers me that the only outfit I didn’t like was exactly the one they took to Tel Aviv.
Yep, same here. But then again, I’m not a fashion critic. (That was my father.)
Really? That’s cool. I’m no expert either though.
CONAN 😀
Festival da Canção has such a good laid-back vibe. All the performers sang together an improvised medley of the songs just right now and it was lovely.
I assume you have read the comments in the latest Sweden post. OMG, I am staying away from that one!
I understand that some countries’ choices are hard to swallow (I’m looking at you, Estonia), but it’s tiresome that every national final without a clear frontrunner winning leads to these tantrums. I guess most of us “win” just a bunch of national finals each year. Many times, my 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice gets the trophy.
Usually I open a wiwibloggs post and search for “Tibor” and “Sabrina”. I stay away from all the other comments.
@Anita: This I believe. 😉
@Purple Mask I like to read your comments too. I always find you around Sabrina and Tibor anyhow 😉
You had me thinking there was an actual “search” function for a second there.
I was excited!
On most browsers, it is “Ctrl + F” 🙂
That was very sweet, Anita. Thank you. 🙂
And not one word or song in English, which is more fresh air. Does the voting period always last this long, though?
Yeah, it’s usually a long show. I guess in 15 minutes they’ll start showing how the regional juries (I assume they’re still a think in Portugal) voted.
Last year all the others joined Conan on the stage for the celebrating performance and they all dropping on the floor along with him became one of my favorite Eurovision-related moments.
At least the runners up in each selection have been nice (Erika gave Aksel a huge hug and Dotter cheered when the Mamas won).
Yeah, Erika and Dotter were lovely. In Australia, Jaguar Jonze was almost happier than Montaigne (and she had a lot of reasons to be pissed).
OMG, Lena D’Agua made me cry. Incredible performance. She has the same voice as in the early 80’s. Amazing. Thanks Festival da Cancao!!!!!!
Filipe Sambado all the way! Hope he somehow wins, such a fiendishly clever package.
My favourites for Portugal are “Abensonhado” by Jimmy P and “Movimento” by Throes+The Shine. Hope one of them wins though “Abensonhado” I like a little bit more. Fingers crossed.
Any of the final three for me but I hope it’s Kady. They were slick and contemporary.
Who is this interval act? Are they deliberately ripping off famous rock bands? I heard The Clash, The Ramones, Green Day and The Police all in the space of 3 minutes!
They are playing songs from portuguese rock bands of the 80’s
I am for Jimmy P, Kady or Throes + Shine!
I liked Sambado better in the 1st semi…
All the rest was either boring or out of tune
Took a good song and made it better. Barbara is still my fave but Portugal is swimming in options.
Well, they haven’t toned down the dancers in Passe-Partout, but Bárbara was more focused on acting and way better dressed this time. I still have a huge soft spot for this one, but I think “Movimento” was the best performance again. Would be happy with both, or Kady or Jimmy. Love Elisa, but Portugal needs something to separate themselves from the pack. About Sambado, I feel the song needs more variation, but his presence is great.
Yeah, similar feelings here. Except I find the “Passe-Partout” performance a bit irritating for some reason. Maybe it’s just too showbiz for me, but it should probably win the song contest for the music.
I blame the dancers (not them personally, they’re just doing their job). Maybe if they weren’t that close to Bárbara, if they weren’t that much on the spotlight, it would work much better. I understand why they’re there though. Bárbara is so tiny, a big stage would look empty if she was there alone. But this needs the “Zero Gravity” polishing treatment if you know what I mean.
So… Who is your winner of Festival da Cançao?
Passe-Partout, but I find them all quite boring 😉
There is no point me saying, I am 0 out of 3 tonight, so have no form! Plus, I like that Portugal likes to do its own thing, and that’s absolutely fine with me.
Passe-Partout and it’s not even close for me.
Probably Barbara Tinoco, but there are many good songs here. Objectively, I’d say Elisa has a beautiful song deserving of victory too, but another good ballad might not make them stand out as much in this particular yearly line-up. I would be quite happy with Movimento, Diz so and Abesonhado.
I feel so chilled out after Medo de Sentir – sorry, I don’t know what it is about, but I find it so relaxing.
I’ts about the fear of feelings after a disapointment.
Basically, she’s singing about not knowing if she’s still able to love, because now she’s feeling afraid of feeling things. It’s very hearfelt and Elisa really sells it with sincerity. But I thought the performance of the semi was better.
Maybe Elisa Rodrigues too, though her problem tonight is probably that the competition is way stronger than in her semi. Tomás on the other hand, was much more comfortable.
Kady and her backing vocals looked and sounded absolutely gorgeous. Ellegant stuff.
Very fashionable and coordinated outfits too. 🙂
10/10 in hairstyling and outfits.
Yes, I have a feeling they would get a load of televotes and jury votes in Rotterdam. There’s nothing else like it in the line-up.
