Music is giving Italy a glimmer of hope, and a spot of leisure, at a time of great fragility. It’s as the nation and its emergency workers and volunteers continue to fight on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
This assumption about the power of music has given birth to a noteworthy project, which will be broadcast in the coming days on Italian TV.
Musica che Unisce is the title of the unique show that will air on Tuesday 31 March at 20.35 CET on Rai1. The event will also be streamed on YouTube, Facebook and www.musicacheunisce.it.
The charity event will bring together many faces from Italian music, all under the direction and voice of Italian journalist Vincenzo Mollica.
Several Italian Eurovision artists will take part in Musica che Unisce:Â Diodato, Emma Marrone, Ermal Meta, Francesca Michielin, Francesco Gabbani, Gianni Morandi, Mahmood and Marco Mengoni.
They are joined by Alessandra Amoroso, Andrea Bocelli, Brunori Sas, Calcutta, Cesare Cremonini, Elisa, Fedez, Gazzelle, Gigi D’Alessio, Levante, Ludovico Einaudi, MĂĄneskin, Negramaro, Paola Turci, Riccardo Cocciante, Tiziano Ferro and Tommaso Paradiso.
The initiative was created to promote a fundraiser for the Civil Protection Department — the national body in Italy that deals with the management of emergency events — which has been fighting the COVID-19 pandemic on a daily basis for weeks.
In order to respect the limitations decreed by the Italian government, artists will create their contributions at home and free of charge. Viewers will be offered a long series of performances that, exceptionally, will not be interrupted by TV commercials.
“The artists, strictly from their homes, will give the audience new live sets, all different and unique, which will follow one another creating a long flow of shared music, to raise funds and remember how the connection between human beings, possible through music, is fundamental to overcome together and responsibly this now global emergency.”
Not just singers, though. There will also be interventions by the dancer Roberto Bolle and actors Luca Zingaretti and Paola Cortellesi. Contributions will also come from the world of sport thanks to Andrea Dovizioso, Bebe Vio, Federica Brignone, Federica Pellegrini, Roberta Vinci and Valentino Rossi.
The show will also feature in-depth analysis from the scientific world with the support of the Ministry of Health.
It is heartbreaking what is happening all around the world, especially in Italy. We have to hold on and stay strong. OT: Croatia has been hit today as well. Aside from the pandemic, a huge earthquake has shook Zagreb. Many old buildings have been damaged and the Cathedral tower has collapsed. Hundreds, if not thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes, which might help the virus spread. Let’s hope the people are vigilant enough for that not to happen. Our authorities have handled this really good so far, which gives me hope. We are all in this, one… Read more »
I am so sorry about the situation in Croatia, both the virus and the earthquake. Stay strong guys.

Pray for Italy (and also the rest of the world) 🙂
