As the world continues to fight the spread of COVID-19, ever more countries and cities are responding with mandatory quarantines and pleas for people to self-isolate. Amid all the Netflix binging and home baking, Melodifestivalen veteran Lina Hedlund has launched “Karantänsessions” (Quarantine sessions) to brighten up the weeks and months ahead.

Lina Hedlund, host of Melodifestivalen 2020 and a former member of Alcazar, invited artists including Dotter, Robin Bengtsson, and Anis Don Demina to her home to perform in a free live-streamed concert on her Facebook page.

Lina says that the idea is to spread joy and happiness to everyone currently stuck at home or placed in quarantine. She also sends a big thank you to all of those who are helping patients to fight the coronavirus everyday.

Guest artists

  • Dotter (Melodifestivalen 2020)
  • Robin Bengtsson (Melodifestivalen 2020, 2017, 2016)

No offence to Lina (and I know Sweden has another approach to the virus atm), but for me watching this from Norway now, this gathering appears quite absurd…

Every country handles the situation differently. And it is too soon to say who has been handling it correctly. In Sweden (I live there, so I know), there is NO advice against meeting friends – as long as everybldy there is healthy and it is not a huge crowd. Our government had a limit of 500 people, but I think it is down to 100 people now. BUT – 100 or 500, doesn’t matter. Because there’s like what? 20 people there. Absolute maximum 20. They are clearly following the precautions set by our government, who in turn follows experts and… Read more »

If even one of them had been infected at the time (perhaps with no symptoms because of the long incubation period) now they all would be. It is quite the opposite from the social distancing.

I was in Sweden for MF. The artists were having photographs taken with fans with arms wrapped around us. They didn’t seem to worry. Even the artists from Norway, Cyprus, Iceland and Latvia, were getting close to fans

That makes me speechless. Does Sweden think, its an island ? People will suffer there too, will die. It´s not the time to invite people to party. Dangerously irresponsible.

Swedish government are listening to experts. What is to say we are handling it incorrectly? Italy has put everybody in quarantine and their curve is still waaaaaaaay high. They are not going agains any experts’ advice! 🙂

One of the key points to curb contagion and transmission of the virus is to avoid crowds… and they organize jam sessions with many people in one room? Well, I understand that in Sweden (unfortunately) the situation is different, and the idea is really nice, but it’s not exactly the best.

Society needs to slow down. not shut down. Even in times of crises society must function. Thanks to Lina for providing us with some light during this period!
Or are you saying we all should stay at home, don’t leave it for two months and just be depressed and alone?

Nobody said doctors and nurses should work 24-48 hours non-stop.

You probably haven’t understood the moment our world is experiencing, or you come from a country that has few cases and where the alert is at its lowest. I wish that for you, of course. The situation is serious, there is no need to underestimate it. We are not just talking here about the elderly or immunodepressed, or people who only have previous illnesses. Anyone, even the healthiest and youngest, can become ill with this virus. Talking about depression and loneliness is an understandable perspective, but very selfish, this virus has the ability to send us to the cemetery, which… Read more »

That many people? Like what? 20? Out limit is like 100, or maybe even 500. They are clearly following every precaution set by our government! 🙂

My God, I thought the problem was the Swedish Government’s lack of foresight, but I realise that the problem is the Swedish mentality. They think they’re immune, probably. Meanwhile, people who were sent home in a paid taxi a week ago have to go back to the ICU today for aggravated pneumonia. In Stockholm. A case, perhaps. I pray for them.
