After Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam was cancelled because of the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, Eurovision fans wondered which countries would keep their artists for Eurovision 2021.

Several have already declared their intention to stick with their 2020 acts, and on Thursday Austria became the latest to do so. Vincent Bueno will represent the country at Eurovision 2021.

Vincent Bueno will represent Austria in Eurovision 2021

Vincent is very happy to be extended the opportunity to represent Austria at Eurovision 2021. He said: “I am incredibly happy that I can be there next year and thankful for ORF’s trust in me.”

The Austrian broadcaster ORF, who chose Vincent internally, is happy to continue the collaboration with Vincent. ORF Program Director Mag. Kathrin Zechner said:

“We chose Vincent Bueno last December because he is a unique performer who took every stage with his passion and would have swept Europe away with his incredible energy. In the past few months, he has fully met our expectations regarding the commitment, creativity and artistic implementation of his song, the video and his planned performance.”

Austria’s Eurovision 2020 replacement

ORF also revealed their plans to broadcast a replacement ESC2020. The Austrian broadcaster will organize the ESC Video Edition Challenge on April 14th, 16th and 18th at 8:15 p.m.

A jury with knowledge of Eurovsion will rank the videos of the 41 songs produced for Rotterdam in three shows. After the third and final show, the jury will announce their top 3. After this, the audience will be asked to vote for their favorite artists. Based on the jury votes and the audience votes, the video winner of ESC2020 will be announced.

Who is Vincent Bueno?

Vincent Bueno is an Austrian-born singer of Filipino ethnicity. He came to fame in 2008 when he won the Austrian talent show Musical! Die Show. The show aimed to find the next Austrian star of musical theatre.

He has also released two albums — the German-language “Wieder leben” from 2016 and the English “INVINCIBLE” in 2018.

There’s another side of Vincent — the family man. Earlier this year, Vincent and his wife Charity Grace — performing as The Buenos — released the hilarious but sweet song “I Still See You”. The song celebrates a relationship enduring despite the demands of parenthood.

Are you happy that Vincent is returning for ESC2021? What do you think of Austria’s ESC2020 replacement? Let us know in the comment section down below!

Now this is setting the right example! A real tribute to the songs and artists of ESC 2020! I hope more decisions like these will follow and I’m eager to know what the EBU has in store.

Don’t keep your hopes up. By this stage it will be 3 hours of showing the videos, without even voting..

I really enjoyed Alive and was really looking forward to seeing it performed live. I know some of the lyrics are a little over familiar but I thought they’d pull out a big show that would lift it further. I’m glad Vincent is back, I’m expecting a similar song

His song was very underrated imo. I really liked it, and it had potential.
Nevertheless, I also hope for a stronger entry next year 😉

So now we have 11 artists for 2021.
What I don’t like is that he can’t sing “Alive” in 2021.
Hope his song next year can manage to rack up enough points to qualify.

Why all the hate? 🙁 I love his song, it’s in my top 10. And all artists deserve to be reselected.

They can still change the programming if the EBU comes up with something fun. But it’s indeed disappointing..

Lol, I would’ve liked De Beste Zangers if they’d have more likeable artists… The only ones I’m excited for are Edsilia Rombley and OG3NE…

Isn’t EBU planning a show of their own to be shown in all countries? Seems like no one seems interested since broadcasters are planning their own shows. Whats going on?

Incredibly so. Probably why he got chosen by the broadcaster. Boring is their brand when it comes to entertainment.

It was my favourite dance song of the year and really suited Vincent’s style and vocal delivery. I hope they can work on something that I like just as much and am super happy that he’ll get the opportunity.

Good for him and hopefully he’ll have a better song next year. It’s good to see many of the internal selection countries sticking to their artists and hopefully the other ones like France and Russia will stick to their artist as well.
