Eurovision Again #EurovisionAgain

It’s another lockdown Saturday. And for many Eurovision fans that means one thing — it’s time to watch a classic song contest from the vaults.

Here’s when and how you can watch #EurovisionAgain.

Watch #EurovisionAgain online

#EurovisionAgain begins at 21:00 CET.

At that time, a classic contest will begin to premiere on the official Eurovision YouTube channel. In effect, it will be as if you are watching the show in realtime as it won’t be possible to skip forward while the show is premiering — you’ll be seeing everything at the same time as the rest of the fandom.

Watch Eurovision Again on YouTube.

However, the selected year will remain a mystery until 20:45 CET when the @EurovisionAgain Twitter account will reveal the details.

Update: The chosen contest for 25 April is Eurovision 2007.

Voting in Eurovision Again

Once every act has performed, the #EurovisionAgain Twitter account will share a link where you can vote for your favourites in the traditional Eurovision style.

Everyone’s votes will be added together to determine whether the fandom has a new winner, or not. In recent rewatches, the UK’s Katrina and the Waves and Norway’s Alexander Rybak still won the 1997 and 2009 contests respectively. However, Belgium’s Loïc Nottet was almost crowned the new champion of 2015.

How to take part in #EurovisionAgain

#EurovisionAgain was primarily designed as a fun way for fans to connect on Twitter during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, for the most interactive experience, it’s probably best to login to the site and tweet along using the hashtag.

Alternatively, there will be a live chat function on the Eurovision YouTube channel.

If neither of those options appeal to you, you can always join in with the discussion in the comments section of this post. It’s up to you!

What is #EurovisionAgain

For the past several weeks, since the COVID-19 pandemic first took hold, Eurovision Again — an initiative started by UK journalist Rob Holley — has been organising mass rewatchings of classic contests on Saturday evenings. The EBU soon came on board and began publishing previously unavailable entire show uploads on its YouTube channel.

As well as organising rewatches, the Eurovision Again team has also added a fundraising element for various LGBT+ charities. Details can be found here.

Will you watch #EurovisionAgain? What year are you hoping for? Let us know in the comments.

I watched 2003 contest the other night on my own. The 26 participating country’s votes were revealed in the order they performed. In doing this it still created results where anyone of three countries could have won. They all finished within about six points of one another. The voting segment was one of the most exciting despite the songs being a bit dreadful.

Watched Helsinki 2007 yesterday. For me almost all songs were new to me (2010 was my first year) and my Top 3 was Serbia, Romania and Hungary (in that order). I knew Serbia of course but it’s an amaaazing song so I just had to put it on #1.

2009 onwards was when ESC went mega huge. I’m old though, so 1974 has to be the best. 🙂
I remember 1991 was dramatic; 93/94 went well: 1998 was epic; 2004 I enjoyed…
Actually I never saw Céline win (was it 1988?), so that would be an interesting one.

Måns still won 2015. Belgium came 2nd instead of 4th. Check their website for past results.
