He’s the singer who won Eurovision for the Netherlands for the first time in over 40 years. Now, Duncan Laurence is celebrating another career high as “Arcade” passes 100 million streams on Spotify.
In a message to his fans on Instagram, Duncan wrote: “A 100.000.000! I don’t know what to say honestly. Thank you so much guys, everyone who streamed Arcade, who supports me and my music.”
Among the people he thanked are Ilse De Lange, Karim Shawky and his whole team. He also gave shout outs to Wouter Hardy, Will Know and Joel Sjöö. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude towards the record labels SPARK Records, Universal Music, Capitol Records, Virgin Records and Sony/ATV Music who he’s working with. And finally, he thanked Spotify.
Eurovision Songs with 100 million + streams on Spotify
“Arcade” joins a select few Eurovision songs in the 100 million + streams club on Spotify. This marks the first time that two entries from the same contest reached the milestone, as Mahmood’s “Soldi” crossed the line last August. The Italian entry for Tel Aviv remains the most-streamed Eurovision song on Spotify.
- Mahmood “Soldi” (Italy 2019) — 152 million
- Loreen “Euphoria” (Sweden 2012) — 143 million (combined)
- Måns Zelmerlöw “Heroes” (Sweden 2015) — 116 million
- Duncan Laurence “Arcade” (Netherlands 2019) — 100 million
Other Eurovision entries that have crossed remarkable milestones include Frans’ “If I Were Sorry” (Sweden 2016) at 90 million streams, ABBA’s “Waterloo” (Sweden 1974) at 85 million streams, Eleni Foureira’s “Fuego” (Cyprus 2018) at 75 million streams, Michael Schulte’s “You Let Me Walk Alone” (Germany 2018) at 51 million and Netta’s “Toy” (Israel 2018) which stands at over 50 million streams combined.
Duncan Laurence’s follow-up single “Love Don’t Hate It” has already crossed 12 million streams. Currently, the singer is working on a new EP that is expected to be released later this year.
Are you happy to see “Arcade” reach 100 million streams on Spotify? How many of those streams are yours? Let us know in the comments.
Duncan announced 2 days ago that he will release his EP and 3rd single in May 13th! Wish he could sing Someone Else (it’s this new single) in Eurovision though.
Congrats Duncan. In time you will surpass Euphoria, which needs retirement.
Congrats Duncan, you finally achieved something after Eurovision.
He achieved more than you think, just saying.
soldi is at like 175 million combined with the spanish version!
Soldi also debuted a month earlier at Sanremo which draws around 10 million views not to mention the population of Italy is over three times the size of The Netherlands. Not really a level playing field!
O yes. Soldi plays another level. It’s hard to be nr 1 with a non English song. Don’t you think.
Salvador, Jamala…?
If Soldi was on another level, it would’ve won Eurovision, right?
None of them have more streamings then Soldi.
All of them have won and had more visibility but less people streamed them.
Don’t you think
Not really when San Remo is more popular in Italy than Eurovision and the winning song gets streamed like crazy in Italy. Soldi was also popular around Europe. I went to the Balkans last summer and many cafes were playing Soldi.
In Italy Soldi is known for Sanremo, but abroad it’s very popular because of Eurovision, it’s not easy for a song in Italian. Not only in Spain or France, where Soldi is platinum and gold, but also in countries like Greece and Israel, where Soldi had a huge success.
Best news of the day, or even the month! Arcade is a fantastic song, listening to it till this day ? waiting for his EP 🙂
Arcade is the best wining song in Eurovision since Euphoria.
