Eurovision 2020 is cancelled. But the spirit of the contest lives on, especially over the next seven days or so, in what would have been the week of the contest. Broadcasters all over Europe are organising their own alternative schedules and replacement shows.
And we’ve gone through the TV guides so you don’t have to! Listed below is all of the alternative Eurovision programming being broadcast on Friday 15 May.
Given the sheer amount of content, we haven’t been able to provide links. But most broadcasters should have online players. Geo-blocks may apply
These listings, while comprehensive, are not necessarily conclusive. If we are missing a show from your country, please let us know in the comments and we’ll update the post.
All times are in CEST unless otherwise stated.
Pick of the day: Eurovision Home Concerts
🌍 17:00: YouTube — Eurovision Home Concerts
Today sees the last episode of the Eurovision Home Concerts — the series that features Eurovision stars delivering mini-concerts from their homes. The EBU describes the YouTube series as stemming from artists facing travel restrictions and tour cancellations in the face of Covid-19. They say that “a new forum to share the music we love is needed now more than ever.”
This finale will feature nine acts — Ukraine’s Go_A Italy’s Diodato, MELOVIN (Ukraine 2018), Imri (Israel 2017), Dami Im (Australia 2016), Yohanna (Iceland 2009), Dana (Ireland 1970), Eimear Quinn (Ireland 1996) and Secret Garden (Norway 1995).
To watch the Dana performance, skip to the very end of our own Wiwi Jam At Home. The clip is a 50th anniversary performance involving Dana and a Zoom choir of performers from all over Ireland. It was produced in conjunction with the RTÉ documentary Dana — The Original Derry Girl.
