Despite the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, this week has nonetheless seen many countries from across Europe voting for their favourite entry out of this year’s acts in their own special shows. This includes Finland, where viewers have voted for their favourite song. Iceland’s Daði & Gagnamagnið came out on top with “Think About Things”.

12 points from Finland go to Daði & Gagnamagnið

Finns could vote for one entry out of the Eurovision 2020 contestants (except for Finnish act Aksel) on the Yle website.

The results of the Finnish voting were presented by Krista Siegfrids and Mikko Silvennoisen (also hosts of UMK 2020) in the programme Yle Olohuone (Yle Living Room).

In the end, Icelandic group Daði & Gagnamagnið took the crown, earning 444 votes. The group have clearly won over the hearts of many Finnish fans and are now the owners of their (albeit virtual) 12 points.

In second place with the Finnish public are Lithuania’s The Roop. They received 280 votes, and are awarded the Finnish 10 points.

Russia’s Little Big got 8 points. The band picked up 201 votes from the public.

Finland’s Top 10

  2. Lithuania
  3. Russia
  4. Switzerland
  5. Bulgaria
  6. Sweden

  10. Ukraine

Full results can be found on the Yle website.

Yle Olohuone

Yle Olohuone has been broadcast over the past few days as a Eurovision talk show. Topics have varied each day – favourite entry in 2020, favourite Eurovision entry of all time and a simple rewatch of Lordi’s legendary victory at Eurovision 2006.

Finnish Eurovision stars Aksel Kankaanranta (2020), Mr. Lordi (2006), Hanna Pakarinen (2007), UMK 2020 runner-up Erika Vikman and many more star guests were there to discuss this year’s entries, re-watch them, plus perform themselves.

Here is a duet of two Finnish Eurovision participants that you should not miss – Krista Siegfrids and Mr. Lordi! They cover Dana International’s Eurovision 1998 winning song “Diva”.

What do you think of the results? Do you agree with the Finnish public? Let us know in the comments below!

I’ve just noticed that Lithuania in Finnish is called Liettua, which is almost exact form along with the Lithuanian version – Lietuva. So strange knowing how English, especially, did mispell the name for ages.

But then in Finnish language Germany=Saksa. Sachsen is a small part of Germany. Estonia= Viro. Virumaa is small part of Estonia… but the language is “eesti or viro”….The Finnish language is unique, we have own words for almost everything :)))))))))))

This year would have been so close between Lithuania and Iceland but I reckon Lithuania would have just pipped Iceland to the post
