Emma Heesters Netherlands

Her breakthrough hit came last summer with “Pa Olvidarte”. And now Dutch singer Emma Heesters is ready for more. In a recent interview with the Dutch newspaper AD, the rising star revealed that she’s ready to represent The Netherlands at Eurovision.

Emma Heesters wants to go to Eurovision

You read that right. Even though Europe Shine A Light aired just a few weeks ago, and despite the fact The Netherlands has already selected Jeangu Macrooy as its 2021 representative, the rumour mill is already spinning about who could sing at Eurovision 2022.

Emma, who applauds the show for always being so big and beautiful, isn’t bothered that she’ll have to wait another year to throw her hat into the ring. As she told the newspaper: “I can work on myself for a while, then I will be a bit strong on stage. More experience is only good.”

It’s not surprising that Emma has been asked about her opinion on Eurovision. In the week of the contest that never was, she took part in a Eurovision themed episode of Beste Zangers. Emma was invited because she is a big fan of the show. She performed “Net Als Toen”, a cover of the first Dutch winner from 1957. The clip has already been watched over 470,000 times on Youtube.

Who is Emma Heesters?

Emma starts her career in a famous Dutch choir for children called Kinderen Voor Kinderen. Five years ago she started uploading music to Youtube. She proved to be an online sensation and now has well over two million subscribers.

Her mainstream breakthrough came in 2019, also on Beste Zangers. Her duet with singer Rolf Sanchez becomes a summer hit in The Netherlands. The duo reached number two in the Dutch charts.

The AD interview mentions that Emma has a record deal in the US. But she keeps making Dutch music too as she released her debut single “Waar Ga Je Heen” recently.

What do you think of Emma Heesters? Would she be a good singer to represent The Netherlands? Let us know in the comments.

AVROTROS should be happy with all those big names in the NL wanting to do ESC, now and in the past (since Anouk).

Her cover of Corry Brokken’s entry “Net als toen” was beautiful! But I hope that she doesn’t enter with yet another slow song to represent us. 🙂

Yes I know, but I’m talking about her represent The Netherlands in 2022 not 2021.

Her type of music seems to suit the Netherlands style well based on their entries to Eurovision in recent years, the songs I’ve heard from her don’t scream “winner” but with the right song, who knows? She has a great voice.

I mean, why not? Give it a year and she’d be great.

“The Netherlands has already selected Jeangu Macrooy as its 2012 representative” I think you mean 2021.
