It’s the talent show where he got his start in 2014. Now Belgian media is reporting that Loïc Nottet is returning to The Voice Belgique — but this time he’ll be sitting on one of the big red coaches’ chairs.

While the news hasn’t been confirmed by broadcaster RTBF, Belgian media are reporting that Eurovision 2015 star Loïc will be joining the coaching panel of the upcoming ninth season of the popular singing show. Filming of the new series will begin in October.

There are some big changes coming to The Voice Belgique coaches’ chairs. Three coaches from the 2019 series will reportedly not be returning for 2020. The British-Belgian musician Matthew Irons is said to want to focus on his band Puggy, while the French singers Vitaa and Slimane have also both not decided to return. This just leaves the Belgian musician Typh Barrow.

Also rumoured for the new series is the successful Belgian DJ Henri PFR. And rounding out the four coaches chairs is the American-Belgian musician Beverly Jo Scott. She would be returning to the series, after having previously served as a coach for the first seven seasons.

BJ Scott was Loïc’s coach when he competed on the series in 2014. She also teamed up with him to write the lyrics for his Eurovision 2015 hit “Rhythm Inside”.

Loïc Nottet’s musical journey

Loïc Nottet got his start on season three of The Voice Belgique in 2014. He inspired three of the four coaches to turn with his blind audition performance of Rihanna’s “Diamonds”.

Coached by BJ Scott, Loïc made it to the grand final of the series where he finished second. While he was the series runner-up, Loïc made enough of an impact to be internally selected to represent Belgium at Eurovision 2015. There he placed fourth with his song “Rhythm Inside”.

Loïc has since two albums, one EP and a number of successful singles. Most recently he released his second album Sillygomania in May.

Belgium’s act for Eurovision 2021 will be managed by the Flemish broadcaster VRT. They have internally selected the trip-hop group Hooverphonic.

What do you think? Will Loïc Nottet make a good coach on The Voice? Should RTBF internally select an act from The Voice 2020 for Eurovision 2022? Tell us your thoughts below!
