It’s a series that hasn’t been without a few ups and down, but The Masked Singer Australia is just a week away from the grand final. And one of the three acts who’ll be competing in next week’s finale is the Queen — the act that many fans suspect is Australian Eurovision star Kate Miller-Heidke.

Queen has been one of the stand-out performers of the series, delivering unique theatrical, popera-style performances of pop hits and classic tunes.

On this week’s show, Queen performed “Dancing On My Own” the 2010 track from the Swedish songstress Robyn.

While many know the song by the slowed-down cover by UK singer Calum Scott, Queen delivered her own version. It was a little slower than Robyn’s original, but it still kept the electronic energy.

And like many of Queen’s performances on the series, she used the song to showcase her operatic vocals. During one part, it even sounded a little similar to part of “Zero Gravity” and giving further evidence that the woman under the Queen mask is Australia’s Eurovision 2019 star Kate Miller-Heidke.

Heading to next week’s Masked Singer Australia grand final

In next week’s grand final, Queen will compete alongside the Bushranger and the Frillneck lizard.

Early on in the series, some fans reckoned that Bushranger was Australia’s Eurovision 2018 star Jessica Mauboy. But as the weeks have progressed, the most popular fan theory is that she’s the singer and actor Bonnie Anderson. This week Bushranger performed Ariana Grande’s 2015 single “One Last Time”.

Fans reckon Frillneck is the Australian actor and singer Eddie Perfect. This week he performed Crowded House’s 1987 ballad “Don’t Dream It’s Over”.

Despite The Masked Singer Australia production having been shut down last month after a Covid-19 outbreak that affected seven dancers, the show will reportedly resume production this week. With the grand final due to screen next Monday, 14 September, producers are eager to get that last episode recorded as soon as possible.

What do you think? She’s a kween but is Kate Miller-Heidke the Queen? Can she win the series next week? Tell us your thoughts below!

From that headline alone, for a moment I imagined Her Majesty The Queen had entered a talent contest in Australia! That would have made my week, haha.

Should’ve placed higher than 9th. Unfortunately for Kate, the combined scores last year were so high. 9th to 3rd was so close

Kate’ll win, and she’ll deserve it.

Side note: 13 countries for JESC this year. Not a huge number, but at least it means countries’ll have to snub two other countries as opposed to just one (and it feels like a temporary decrease as opposed to a complete return to the horribly low pre-2018 participant numbers).
