Yesterday, it was officially confirmed that Eurovision 2021 will be back no matter what. And with this comes the official confirmation that Jan Smit, Chantal Janzen and Edsilia Rombley have also been reconfirmed as our hosts.

The Eurovision 2021 hosts

Back in July, our readers selected Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw as their favourite hosts of the 2010s. After hosting Eurovision: Shine a Light this year, the golden trio in the Netherlands are set to be the first hosts of the new decade. And with their combined set of skills, it looks like we’re off a great start!

Jan Smit

Jan Smit is one of the Netherlands’ most famous singers. He rose to fame as a child star, but as an adult he managed to score hit after hit as well. Jan also had a successful career in Germany as part of the schlager boyband KLUBBB3. The group was also asked to take part in Eurovision at one stage, but they refused. Next to his singing career, Jan has enjoyed a long career as a presenter, hosting both the country’s Junior Eurovision preselection as well as different musical programmes. Since 2011, he has been one of the commentators for the contest alongside Daniël Dekker and later Cornald Maas. As a commentator, Jan Smit is known as honest and not afraid to comment on a singer’s musical abilities…or lack thereof.

In April, Jan Smit was granted the royal honour Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of his work for childrens’ charities and music. He’s been a star his entire life, and has released 27 albums during his long career.

Chantal Janzen

Chantal Janzen is an omni-talent. She can sing, she can dance, she can act and on top of that, she’s very funny. Nowadays, she is an established presenter in both the Netherlands as well as in the German-speaking world. She was voted best TV presenter at the Golden Televizier Gala multiple times and was on many lists from experts for this job. The RTL star has a lot of experience with presenting large television shows.

Vanavond! Baby’s! VANAVOND! @rtl.nl om 20.30u. #anaalklierenlegen #castreren #jajeleestditgoed

Chantal has been spending lots of time with her family over the past year, but also been working hard on her TV show Chantal. In addition, she’s been designing jewellery and advocating for LGBT rights, women’s rights, and drawing attention to the work of hospital workers. She’s truly an icon, and one of the most recognised TV presenters on Dutch television.

Edsilia Rombley

Edsilia Rombley is also a familiar face for many Eurofans. She represented The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest twice. First in 1998 with “Hemel en aarde” when she finished 4th overall. She returned in 2007 with “On Top of the World”, finishing 21st in the biggest Eurovision semi-final to date. Edsilia routinely hosts Eurovision in Concert together with Cornald Maas.

#eurovision #shinealight #afterglow

This Eurovision icon hasn’t stopped producing music over this year. In July, she recorded “Goed Voor Mij” with Surinamese musician Kenny B, and did a cover of “Husavik” in the Ahoy Arena. She’s also currently serving as a judge on Drag Race Holland, and has been a regular on Dutch TV in addition to her long music career. She truly has all the ingredients for an amazing Eurovision presenter.

NikkieTutorials will also return as online host

Nikkie de Jager has also been confirmed as the online host. The YouTube beauty vlogger was the online host for Eurovision: Shine a Light and will finally get her deserved spot in the limelight next year. After the show’s cancellation, she hosted “Eurovisioncalls with NikkieTutorials” in which she talked to the Eurovision 2020 stars about their reaction to the news and their journey beyond. She’s been watching Eurovision for most of her life, and this is truly a dream come true for her!

Last month, Nikkie shared the news that she’d been robbed at gunpoint in her home. Fortunately, she managed to escape from the experience physically unharmed. She’ll be a guest judge on Drag Race Holland, and still works on her popular YouTube channel.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see the hosts return? Who is your favourite? Let us know below!

Same show, same location, probably the same format so unless there was a scheduling issue, I don’t know why they would be changed. I guess this is news?

Something tells me Edsilia will do both of her Eurovision songs as one of the interval acts in the semi-finals, which I’m 100% in favour of. She’s excellent. Really looking forward to 2021 now we know it’s happening no matter what.
