Duncan Laurence is the latest Eurovision winner to have his song go viral on TikTok. And like Netta, he’s also embraced the meme and joined in the fun. This time, Duncan’s “Arcade” has been used in the “Dracotok” meme, which uses Duncan’s heartbreak ballad along with a deleted scene from a Harry Potter film.

The song seems to have first appeared on TikTok in this form, in a post from French Harry Potter fan @eva.malefoy_. The song was used to explore the relationships between Harry Potter and Hermoine, and Harry and his nemesis Draco Malfoy.

@eva.malefoy_vous préférez le drarry ou le harmione ? 😳💚 ##drarry ##dracomalfoy ##harrypotter ##hermione ##harmione♬ son original – 🐍Serpentard🐍

The “Arcade” clip was then used in a post from TikTok user @dracomalfoyandme_. They uploaded a clip showing a deleted scene from the 2011 film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. In the scene, Draco redeems himself by throwing Harry his wand to help defeat Lord Voldemort.

But the scene was cut from the film and Draco fans are still hurting that their favourite character was never allowed to have his moment of redemption. This led to the “Dracotok” meme, which used “Arcade” to illustrate the heartache of being a Draco fan.

@dracomalfoyandme_why tho ##dracomalfoy ##fyp ##foryoupage♬ son original – 🐍Serpentard🐍

The video concept went viral and led to other videos that used the Dracotok soundtrack. Currently, TikTok lists over 63,000 Dracotok videos. Some videos show other Draco fans reacting to the cut scene, other videos are just general Harry Potter appreciation, while other videos ignore the Potterverse entirely and just make use of the song’s emotional heft. As well, a clip of the non-Potter version of “Arcade” is even more popular, with 127,000 views to date.

Duncan Laurence works his magic

Once Duncan Laurence discovered the TikTok popularity of “Arcade”, he couldn’t resist joining in on the fun. Duncan uploaded a video using the song, where he snaps his fingers and transforms into a nerdy Harry Potter version of himself.

@duncanlaurenceThanks for all your Harry Potter videos featuring “Arcade”! Here’s mine. 🤭 ##arcadechallenge ##harrypotter ##lovingyouisalosinggame ##draco♬ son original – 🐍Serpentard🐍

The video has sparked dozens of comments from fans thrilled that Duncan has found the meme and also delighted that he’s join in on the fun.

Eurovision music on TikTok

Duncan isn’t the first Eurovision winner to have his song go viral on TikTok. Last month after “Toy” went viral, Netta gave TikTok’ers a history lesson about her Eurovision win.

Earlier in the year, Romania singer Serena enjoyed TikTok fame when her 2017 national final song  “Safari” went viral.

To date, “Safari” used been used in over 260,000 videos on TikTok. For contrast, Eurovision 2021 hits such as Daði Freyr’s “Think About Things” has been used 86,600 times, while The Roop’s “On Fire” has 6341 videos. However, Little Big’s “Uno” has been used in 765,400 videos. But Netta is the current Eurovision TikTok queen, with “Toy” having been used in over 2.4 million videos.

What do you think? Which other Eurovision winners could go viral on TikTok? Does TikTok offer clues to Eurovision success? Tell us your thoughts below!

Harry Potter has been spoiled for me by J.K. Rowling’s shameful transphobia. 🙁

Sigh this again? I agree with Robbie Coltrane: people are just looking for reasons to be offended.
None of what she said classifies as transphobia, though in this age where you must show 100% support to every minority and be public about it, I can see why it is transphobic. You know “if you don’t support us you are against us”.
It’s like people calling you anti-Semitic for not supporting Israel.. I still will continue to read Harry Potter, nothing will change that..

Keep sighing, Denis. Respect and dignity for transgender people is obviously too much for you to take. You are deluding yourself if you believe what you just posted.

yes she’s transphobic but it’s possible to separate art from artist, no? I personally didn’t care about JKR much and looked at Harry Potter without her guidance all these years

I like this trend of winners becoming big on TikTok. Can we do this for Eimear Quinn next? Influencers, do your thing!

Italians are behaving like Turkish MaNga fans. There comes a time when that becomes a bit pathetic.
Arcade has 300k Spotify streams each day at he moment, by the way.
