“Light It Up!” Eleni Foureira electrifies the dance floor in high-energy music video

Eleni Foureira has major disco balls. And in the music video for “Light It Up” — her sensationally catchy new single — she’s doing more than letting those balls hang about. She’s mounting them, dancing around them, and throwing memorable shapes while they illuminate her very own discotheque. Get your coolers and don’t forget the ice — this video is raising the temperature for real.

Living up to the title, Eleni’s latest single most definitely shines. Cast in the 70s, but with some recognisable 80s synths and electro sounds, she straddles the decades as she hits the club for a very memorable night.

There’s a clear object of affection — and dare we say lust? — and she’s ready to unleash her fire (fuego to all y’all Eurovision fans). As the Queen of the Everlasting Hair Whip sings: “I’m gasoline and you are my fire, love is TNT, I’m about to blow.” Don’t say she didn’t warn ya!

As ever, the video stands out for Eleni’s high-energy choreography. While a lesser dancer might get lost in a sea of flailing limbs, the Albanian-born stunner treats it like child’s play — even when moving at a pace so fast she might appear to be an illusion.

The speed is, of course, part of the magic. Were she to do these moves in slow motion you might think she were washing her hands or performing some sort of religious right at a Buddhist temple. But our girl lights her fire and somehow manages to hit the thumping beat. This is art and her body is the canvas.

And she decorates that canvas in some seriously stunning costumes that outshine even the oversized disco ball. Among my favourites is the spaghetti strap, sequin leotard she wears when the first chorus hits. The neckline, if you can call it that, plunges down toward her belly button, exposing her delicate décolletage. Backless and made to cover very little, it showcases Eleni’s athleticism. Her heart-shaped earrings, meanwhile, add a bit of camp to this over-the-top video. For many, they will also reflect Eleni’s kindness — love is at the centre of everything she does.
