Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet is reporting more rumoured artists for Melodifestivalen 2021. Said to be joining this season’s lineup are Eurovision 2003 star Jessica Andersson, and two acts from Melfest 2020 — Klara Hammarström and Alvaro Estrella.

Jessica Andersson for Melodifestivalen 2021

Jessica Andersson made it to Eurovision 2003 as part of the schlager-pop duo Fame. They placed fifth with their song “Give Me Your Love”. Since then, Jessica has established a solo career and competed at Melfest numerous times.

Her 2021 return marks her sixth solo Melfest entry. In 2010 her entry “I Did It for Love” reached eighth in the grand final, and her 2015 power ballad “Can’t Hurt Me Now” placed 11th.

Most recently Jessica competed in 2018 with the upbeat song “Party Voice”. The song — where Jessica declared she was going to “dance like a mother” — qualified directly for the grand final where it finished 11th.

Aftonbladet‘s source says Jessica’s 2021 entry will be in a similar style of “Party Voice”, an uptempo schlager-pop number.

Klara Hammarström for Melodifestivalen 2021

Klara made her Melfest debut earlier this year with the dance-pop song “Nobody”. She placed fifth in her semi-final, but particularly did well with younger viewers.

Aftonbladet reports that Klara has been involved with several Melodifestivalen-focused songwriting camps. The Melfest production team have also specifically been scouting for songs suitable for Klara.

Klara is otherwise known for starring in the Swedish reality series Familjen Hammarström (The Hammarströn Family). The show followed Klara, her twin sister Selma and brother Ingemar, as well as her seven other siblings and their parents. The family is heavily involved in equestrian events.

Alvaro Estrella for Melodifestivalen 2021

Alvaro Estrella returns to Melodifestivalen after performing last year with Méndez on “Vamos amigos”. This year he’ll be in the competition as a solo artist.

Alvaro made his solo Melfest debut in 2014 with the song “Bedroom”, which did not go further than its semi-final.

But the Swedish star has made it to Eurovision multiples times — as a backing singer and dancer for some iconic acts. Alvaro debuted at Eurovision 2011 as once of Eric Saade’s “Popular” dancers, and returned two years later at the side of the stage for Farid Mammadov’s “Hold Me”. In 2016 Alvaro joined Sergey Lazarev for “You Are the Only One”. He then joined Robin Bengtsson on the treadmills as part of his well-dressed “I Can’t Go On” backing singers in 2017.

Melodifestivalen 2021: Expected acts

According to Aftonbladet, we already know nine of the 28 acts for Melodifestivalen 2021. They are P4 Nästa wildcard entry Julia AlfridaTusse Chiza, Sannex, Sami Rekik & Wahl, The Mamas, Dotter, Jessica Andersson, Klara Hammarström and Alvaro Estrella.

The Melfest rules forbid artists from revealing whether or not they’re participating. Therefore, Aftonbladet’s reports are not official. However, their rumours have proven accurate before, as they correctly predicted 45 of the last two years’ 56 participants.

What do you think? Which other artists would you like to see competing in Melfest 2021? Who should Sweden send to Rotterdam? Tell us your thoughts below!

Unrelated, but sad news from Belgium: 1988 representative Joseph Reynaerts passed away from COVID. “Laissez briller le soleil” has really grown on me, and I recommend giving it a listen. A former HoD from the UK has also passed away, apparently.

Jessica <3 Big fan of “Party Voice” here. And Klara’s “Nobody” is also in my playlist. You also could say: The Queen, the princess & the beauty 😀

Inte vinner hon iallafall. Schlager var det länge sedan någon vann med, eller ens röstade på. Det är en död genre i mellon..

Klara Hammarström should have qualified. Nobody is a bop and live she was great.
