We we get further into 2021 national final season, more acts are being reported for Melodifestivalen 2021. According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Sweden’s Junior Eurovision 2012 act Lova Sönnerbo is said to be considering Melfest, while Lova Drevstam is said to be confirmed for 2021.

And yes, this means two acts named Lova — but it looks like things won’t be too confusing. Both singers have different stage names.

LOVA reportedly considering Melodifestivalen 2021

Lova Sönnerbo performs with the mononym LOVA. She may be best known to Eurovision fans for representing Sweden at Junior Eurovision 2012. There she sang “Mitt mod” and placed sixth in the competition.

But there’s more to LOVA than just Junior Eurovision. Last year she was nominated for Artist of the Future at the P3 Guld-galan awards. Earlier this year she released the heartfelt single “Lonely Ones”.

But, like Eric Saade, LOVA has not yet confirmed for Melodifestivalen 2021. Aftonbladet’s source explained, “There has been talk about her as if she should be in Mello, but I do not know if it is completely clear yet. Her record company is investing heavily in her, in any case.”

Lovad for Melodifestivalen 2021

Lova Drevstam, meanwhile, uses the stage name Lovad — so if the two acts do both end up in Melodifestivalen, this should help minimise any confusion.

Earlier this year, Lovad had some success with the single “Vi gjorde vårt bästa” (“We did our best”). The song was a duet with previous Melfest act Albin Johnsén who has also reportedly written Lovad’s Melfest 2021 entry.

Also contributing to the songwriting is Mattias Andréasson — another Melfest regular and Albin’s frequent creative partner. Aftonbladet’s source says their song for Lovad is in the style of “choral pop, which really requires a good singing voice”. The source also reckons “the song is perfect for Lovad.”

Melodifestivalen 2021: Expected acts

According to Aftonbladet, we already know 12 of the 28 acts for Melodifestivalen 2021. They are P4 Nästa wildcard entry Julia AlfridaTusse Chiza, Sannex, Sami Rekik & WahlThe Mamas, DotterJessica Andersson, Klara Hammarström, Alvaro Estrella, Paul Rey, Arvingarna and Lovad. Eric Saade and LOVA are on the list of acts being chased by SVT.

The Melfest rules forbid artists from revealing whether or not they’re participating. Therefore, Aftonbladet’s reports are not official. However, their rumours have proven accurate before, as they correctly predicted 45 of the last two years’ 56 participants.

SVT is expected to announce the full Melodifestivalen line-up later this month.

What do you think? Which other artists would you like to see competing in Melfest 2021? Who should Sweden send to Rotterdam? Tell us your thoughts below!

Ever since I heard her first hit My Name Isn’t I knew she would be a future Mello artist. Glad to see I was right. She has that young female I don’t care- attitude like ISA and Malou Prytz had before her that Mello is looking for!
That song is still a bop and I am excited to hear what she brings us!

LOVA has gotten a lot of buzz lately because of her songs “Black Converse” and “You Me and the Silence”, which was the 2nd most played song on Swedish radio station P3. If she has a strong song she could be the next breakthrough like Wiktoria in 2016

This looks like a really strong Melfest by artists alone.

Oh no, she has one of those annoying mumble voices…hate that so much because people who usually can’t sing use that weird voice and i just can’t understand it….

One day next week. Probably Thursday, Tuesday or Wednesday – not sure tho. It’s usually around the 24th of November. So soon enough.
