Junior Eurovision 2020 Malta Kazakhstan

Junior Eurovision 2020 will take place in just four days.

However, due to the ongoing global pandemic, it will be a contest like never before. Apart from the hosting, most of the show will not be taking place live. Instead, all of the performances were pre-recorded some weeks ago.

This means that we won’t get to see the usual rehearsal snippets. But fear not, you don’t have to wait until the weekend to get a flavour of what’s in store.

Between Monday 23 and Thursday 26 November, the EBU is uploading “first impressions” of about three acts each day. These snippets consist of behind the scenes footage and images from when the acts recorded their JESC 2020 performance.

On Wednesday, we got first impressions from Malta and Kazakhstan. Malta recorded on-site in Warsaw, Poland. Kazakhstan recorded in a  local TV studio.

Germany was also listed on today’s schedule. However, Susan’s backstage images and video won’t be released until later in the week.

Who do you think made the most impact?

Oh my word – the emotion Karakarat will be adding looking up (to her Dad watching over her from above) as she sings this song dedicated to him.

I will be a crying mess come Sunday.

Kazakhstan are constantly bringing their A game to the contest, even more than regulars…
Let them compete at ESC!
Also, Forever is my biggest grower of the year! Karakat is super talented and I wouldn’t mind at all if she won the contest 🙂

My main worry with Kazakhstan was with the quality of the live vocal in the NF performance. She sounds good here! Yeah, definitely a contender for me.

I love both of the songs but “Forever” from Karakat Bashanova is my big favorite !! I will vote for her and hope for the first victory of Kazakhstan !! Good Luck !!!

I really hope for a Kazakh victory, so that we may be able to see them in the actual contest, since a 2nd place was apparently not enough for the EBU to invite them.

Seriously, we need this to happen! This year is also special because Kazakhstan seems to have a spectacular staging and an excellent song, and there isn’t any clear winner song. And EBU please, if Kazakhstan wins JESC, just invite them to actual ESC!

I’ll keep going with this theory and will say it again: they’ll probably invite Kazakhstan when either Russia or Belarus won the main contest. KZ was invited for JESC after Russia won, so they could offer their invitation to the reference group, as it’s gonna be *their* contest and they can do what they like.

Kazakhstan looks fantastic! They are killing it in JESC! Just imagine how much they would slay in regular ESC! What are you waiting for anymore EBU! Just invite them already!
