Last month, France TV confirmed details of its new national final, Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez!, including that the show will be hosted by Stéphane Bern. Now it appears he will have a co-host. French media is reporting that Laurence Boccolini is on board as one of the show’s presenters.

Laurence Boccolini named as co-host of ‘Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez!’

French newspaper Le Parisien is reporting that the French television and radio presenter Laurence Boccolini will join Stéphane Bern as a co-host of the new French national final.

The experienced broadcaster has recently moved over to France Télévisions, the broadcaster behind France’s Eurovision efforts.

Laurence Boccolini has been a leading face of French television for more than 15 years. The 57-year-old host has hosted many game shows such as Le Maillon Faible and Money Drop.  She also has experience as a radio host, particularly in presenting programmes devoted to rock culture.

Laurence also hosted the musical guessing game show Le Grand Blind test. Last year, she won the first French series of The Masked Singer, performing as the Unicorn.

While France TV has not yet confirmed if Laurence will join the new French national final, her music background and love for Eurovision does seem like a good complement for the historic expertise of Stéphane Bern.

France’s new national final

France is introducing a new national final to select its act for Eurovision 2021. The show is titled Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez! — which essentially translates to Eurovision France: You Decide!

Broadcaster France TV has not confirmed many details about the new show format, but it is known that the show will involved 12 competing acts and it will be hosted by Stéphane Bern.

A specific date for the national final has not yet been given, however, it will take place sometime in January 2021.

The broadcaster has also confirmed that the show will be filmed in a provincial French city, rather than the Paris locations of previous national finals.

The new national final will have a different format to the 2018-2019 show Destination Eurovision. The previous national final format had involved two semi-finals and a grand final, with all the competing acts internally selected by the broadcaster after liaising with record labels. For Eurovision France, the broadcaster has accepted public submissions.

What do you think? Do you like the French hosting team? Which acts would you like to see compete in the new national final? Tell us your thoughts below!

Excited for that!
Just a little mistake, she presented both Le Maillon Faible (The Weakest Link) and Money Drop

She is the person that we needed in France to give a fresh breathe to the Eurovision brand. It will be a perfect match with Stepahne Bern, trust me!

Eurovision France just shared a picture of the 12 finalists on their Facebook page! So excited for Barbara Pravi, I hope her entry is Voilà since it’s less than 3 minutes and was released a month ago. It’s a masterpiece. In any case, excited for the national final and really happy to see Laurence joining the Eurovision family!
