She’s the Eurovision 2021 singer who has cultivated an edgy, dark art-pop sound. But on a recent episode of Bulgaria’s most popular late night show, VICTORIA made it clear she can also work her magic within the folk genre.
Appearing on “The Nikolous Tsitiridis Show”, she delivered a rousing performance of her ESC 2020 song “Tears Getting Sober”, which she later described as “retro chalga.” That’s a genre you may recognise from the likes of Sofi Marinova, Bulgaria’s ESC 2021 queen.
A special version of "Tears Getting Sober" I performed on bTV's Night Show ? The lyrics of the song sound like a retro chalga when translated in Bulgarian ? pic.twitter.com/wVZBMs3iwz

The host asked VICTORIA why she prefers to perform in English. She said that for a song like “Tears Getting Sober” the lyrics in Bulgarian would sound silly for all native speakers.
VICTORIA to sample “The Screaming Sheep” meme
What’s she got cooking for her upcoming album? Well VICTORIA said that on one track she’ll sample the popular Internet meme “The Screaming Sheep”. That song will also be one of the songs VICTORIA will consider for Eurovision 2021.
The screaming sheep video dates back to at least 2012. Reading in the comments section of YouTube, people familiar with sheep say the animals are known to make a variety of strange noises that can vary by weather conditions. At the same time, plenty of people online have questioned whether the video is authentic and if the sheep is actually making the noise.
In any case, it was fitting that the host gave VICTORIA a plush sheep doll as a gift. In return she gave him one of only 25 vinyl records of “Tears Getting Sober”. She’ll be handing one out to a fan sometime in early 2021.
Responding to our tweet on Twitter, VICTORIA — who is a known lover of animals, with several pets and a history of working with shelters — added another juicy detail.
“I also met some sheep in the Netherlands during the filming of my postcard for #Eurovision,” she wrote, punctuating that sentence with a sheep face emoji and some tears of joy. “It was so much fun!”
On 20 December VICTORIA hosted her first Christmas Concert on Wheels, which went around the streets of Sofia. Performing from the back of a holiday-decorated bus, she entertained the people of the Bulgarian capital with special holiday covers and, of course, her biggest hits. The full concert is available on her YouTube channel.
She’s also shared a backstage video from her concert, which captures the reactions of people on the street. You can watch that below.
Are you loving the idea of a sample of the screaming sheep? Do you think this will be a song to scream about? Let us know in the comments box below.
“Tears Getting Sober” was a classy and elegant song. Screaming sheep meme will certainly continue the trend. 😉
Great joke.
😀
I thought samples, remixes and covers were not allowed in Eurovision. Can anyone explain, please?
The screaming goat sound is not owned by anyone, nor is it copyrighted, nor is it even classified as a piece of music. It’s simply a sound. Where sampling becomes illegal is when it starts using pieces of music (guitar riffs, piano melodies, vocals) from other artists or songs.
The awkward moment when a website makes a news out of an obvious joke.
She’s a woman of culture, I like that
she’s like eight years too late, did a forty year old music producer suggest this?
The closest an animal has ever gotten to be on the Eurovision stage
Efendi exists
Dustin the Turkey!!
I don’t think that this will be her winning song but let’s see
This is the song that came to my mind (at 1:15) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHvNB9xTitQ
Prediction; a Billie Eyelish rip off with some trap beat most probably
Queen Victoria S2
NO JUST NO
I would be worried… but this is Victoria we’re talking about – I have full trust in her.
I’m all for it.
I’m all for songs that are self aware and half-humoristic (like golden boy, space)
ummm……
An outdated meme sampled into a song?
I found my inner voice again
And it sounds like this:
<unintelligible sanskrit>
Like Cleopatra!
?
I mean, ok lmaoo
Wait… it’s allowed to sample in ESC?
As long as you have the copyright or it’s in the public domain. Personally, I’d limit the sampled material per a few seconds at most, because otherwise it cannot be ”an original content” by a default, but I don’t think that EBU would have any issues with that as long as there’s no copyright lawsuit involved.
2021 starting great already
