Last Friday, France Télévisions gathered a small group of journalists for a socially distanced press conference at the iconic Apollo Theatre in Paris. Besides introducing us to the basic format of Eurovision France: C’est vous qui décidez, organisers also treated us to something very special: 90-second live performances from each of the 12 finalists.
Our Colombian blogger Diego was on hand and held up his iPhone so we could share the live magic — err magique — with all of you. In our video above you can get a sense of how each contestant moves on stage and how their vocals might hold up on the big night.
Eleven of the 12 acts were present at the press conference. Unfortunately, Terence James — who will sing “Je t’emmènerai danser” — had a previous engagement on the set of a movie. He still performed his entry, albeit from a different location.
If you want to skip to a specific performance, the timestamps are listed below.
00:07 21 Juin Le Duo – “Peux-tu me dire?”
01:38 Ali – “Paris me dit”
03:16 Amui – “Maeva”
04:53 Andriamad – “Alléluia”
06:21 Barbara Pravi – “Voilà”
07:50 Casanova – “Tutti”
09:23 Cephaz – “On a mangé le soleil”
10:49 Juliette Moraine – “Pourvu qu’on m’aime
12:25 LMK – “Magique”
13:57 Philippine – “Bah non”

Who impressed you the most? Which acts will come to life the most when they hit the stage? Let us know in the comments box below!
When I heard all these songs a couple of weeks ago for the first time I was quite surprised but not in a good way. Who the hell made this selection? In France there are so many good songwriters, musicians, singers… and then they choose these 12 acts and songs. What were they thinking? it’s the most bizarre mix of wannabe Junior Eurovision songs, average old-fashioned french chansons and weird acts that French people would laugh with in normal circumstances. Now that I’ve seen the snippets my impression has become even worse. This is often very bad, sometimes cheesy (but not in a… Read more »
Still think this is a great and exciting selection – and almost all of them better than ‘Mon Alliée’. France had a lucky escape this year.
For me Barbara, LMK and Andriamad are the stand-outs. Barbara’s vocals sound almost better live than recorded?!
My favorites are
1. Andriamad
2. LMK
3. Barbara
Barbara Pravi is in a different league. Could be an ESC winner there.
Barbara, Juliette, LMK and Cephaz have really solid vocals 🙂 But all of them are good actually. The only disappointing live is Pony X.
Semi listening while making dinner, LMK was the only one that really caught my attention on first listen. Might be a good direction for France to try out.
Pony X vocals very disapponting 🙁
My favorites are LMK and Casanova.
LMK really surprised me. The song was already my favourite, but I was afraid that her vocals would disappoint.
Surprisingly, her vocals were great. She has the charisma and energy that “Magique” requires, so I’m rooting for her.
I love how Laurence Boccolini (the presenter) is ambiancing herself on all the songs ahah. This promises a lot for the final =) I’m really happy with all the vocals, I can’t wait for the show now and I hope it will be great and acclaimed. I have 2 big favorites but honestly I will be happy with any of them representing my country. What a job done compared to last year, fans are really pampered, and most of all they are showing us that where there’s a will there’s a way. I hope all of this will be rewarded… Read more »
I’m hoping that France will pick Philippine, she has the best song and it could do well on stage. If not, then the only other choice is Barbara
Barbara, Pony X and Terrence James are my personal top 3 from these clips!
The 2 songs I most like are:
Surely they’ve got to pick Tutti by Casanova. It’s frankly the only song that would likely be out of the bottom five.
