The Roop Discoteque Pabandom is Naujo 2021

The hype is getting higher! Roughly one year after the record-breaking “On Fire”, The Roop are set to drop the long-awaited follow-up “Discoteque”. Now, ahead of its official release on Friday 22 January, the band have shared a snippet of their entry for Lithuania’s Pabandom iš Naujo! 2021.

The Roop “Discoteque” snippet

The Roop — that’s Vaidotas Valiukevičius, Robertas Baranauskas and Mantas Banišauskas — don’t elaborate much on the 15-second clip. Upon posting it to their various social media channels, they simply write “A fragment of “Discoteque” vibe”. The statement concludes with the “man dancing” emoji.

Whilst brief, the snippet does give us a little taste as to what we can expect. Unsurprisingly, it appears to have the quintessential four-on-the-floor disco beat — the clue is in the title, after all. It is dominated by what seem to be beatboxing samples while an ethereal tinkling sound can also be heard.

In an earlier post, the trio wrote: “The new song “Discoteque” is not a copy of “On Fire”. That’s what we wanted the least. However, one thing that is in common (apart from band members) is that both sound somewhat unusual. And we love it!”

The Roop at Pabandom iš Naujo! 2021

The reigning Pabandom iš Naujo! champions are participating in Lithuania’s national selection once more. However, in acknowledgement of the fact that they never got the chance to perform at the cancelled Eurovision 2020, producers have given The Roop a guaranteed slot in the final. That means they don’t have to go through the heats and semi-final like the other 20 acts.

So that they’re not at any disadvantage, the band have also been given the chance to perform “Discoteque” in Heat Two on Saturday 23 January. This ensures that the Lithuanian public will be familiar with their song when the final rolls around in just over two weeks’ time.

What do you think of the snippet? Are you excited to hear the full version? Let us know below.

This snippet is promising, but I’m keeping my expectations to a lid because I don’t want to be disappointed. I can’t wait for it’s release on Friday. It’s a good thing that it’s not a a 2.0 version of On Fire, but we’ll see.

If the song it’s good I don’t doubt they will win again, SF1 was boring, the only decent song was No and Shadow but still “meeeh” for eurovision, my opinion.

Lithuania is relevant for the first time ever and it’s already ‘overrated’. Ok.

They surely will do well but it’s still such a pity they didn’t compete last year. They would easily win. And it’s great when a country that never won actually wins. Good luck to them.

They and Iceland would’ve at least been up there. I could see one of them or Italy winning, but as ever, we can only speculate. (I do not, however, think Russia would’ve been in contention. At best, I could see them getting a Moldova 2017-like finish: doing well with the countries in on the joke/friendly with Russia, polarizing to everyone else.)

For me Lithuania had one of best song. Iceland is for me so overrated country last year by fans, odds. I think Switzerland would win because Lituania,Iceland,Russia wili be split the votes from public. I think Lituania would get more points from juries then Iceland and Russia.
I think result would be
1.Switzerland
2.Russia
3.Lithuania
4.Bulgaria
5.Sweden
6.Iceland
7.Malta
8.Azerbaijan
9.Romania
10.Norway

Russia as runner-up and Italy not even in the top ten is a bold prediction

Is it still a ‘prediction’ if it’s an event that never happened, so we’ll never know the answer?

Fair point. Didn’t know the word to use. Hypothesis? Theory?

Russia would won televote in 2020. And for Italy , maybe from 8 to 12 place with juries but I dont see Italy in TOP 10 with televote last year.
Sweden would be again in TOP 3 with juries and in TOP 13 with televote.

It sounds like super promising and amazing, doesn’t it? Honestly, they should have it in the bag. but let’s see. Lithunia can be … unpredictable.

If you want the Roop to represent Lithuania, you’ve got to make it happen Lithuanians. Don’t just wish it, vote.

It’s probably just a demo and it’s hard to tell how it will progress. But still, a very unique sound. I’m looking forward to the music video, the hype is real.
