Pabandom is Naujo 2021 Semi-Finalists

It’s only week three, but Lithuania’s once-lengthy national selection process is almost at an end. On Saturday 30 January, ten acts will take to the stage for the semi-final of Pabandom iš Naujo! 2021. They’ll all be hoping to secure a place in the grand final alongside automatic qualifiers The Roop.

The ten semi-finalists have all performed once before, with five qualifying from Heat One and five from Heat Two. Thus, fans are already familiar with each of the acts. At the time of writing, it is understood that there are five spots up for grabs, making for a six-song final. But which acts deserve to reach the final show and do battle with last year’s winners?

You can listen to the ten semi-finalists below. Then vote for your favourites in our poll. You can vote for as many entries as you like, but you can only vote once. So, choose wisely! The poll will close ahead of the semi on Saturday.

Gebrasy’s song is actually really good but have no chances to win over The Roop’s song, dance, staging and this huge fan base. Quite sad that Gebrasy decided to compete this year than leaving this song for another year. I really think that his song with good and memorable performance could do well in Eurovision too.

I still don’t get why the jury put Voldemars first. It looks like he bribed the jury. Compared to the other entries he should come last in this SF. The song itself isn’t too bad, but the complete pack isn’t competitive enough. My favs are Gebrasy, Gabrielius and Aiste Brokenleg. I think Gabrielius had stronger songs where to choose and he picked “My Guy” because of the message. Anyway, he still deserves the podium (3rd place probably). But he needs to work on his stagings because they always lack a theme, he just stands on stage with a rather weird… Read more »

Let’s be honest, heat 1 was dire. It was probably the best of the worst.

My favourites are Shadows and Where’d you wanna go, but even if both of them qualify from the semi, I don’t think that any of those will beat Discoteque. Unless the jury places The Roop dead last in the final, then they’ll probably be the winners. Based on the points that they received last year and the fact that this year in both heats only one song managed to gather more than 1000 votes (Thank You Very Much, 2063 votes), it is becoming apparent that in terms of televoting The Roop are invincible. The Roop gathered 2175 votes in their… Read more »

“Maybe the national final is doing well in viewing figures and they didn’t want to ditch it.” I’m suspecting that might be the reason the national final is going on, even though it would have been preferable to internally select the Roop. Last year probably generated a lot of viewing figures and a flood of money from the televote and the broadcaster didn’t want to pause it to not take the opportunity to cash in. Though if Lithuania hypothetically wins Eurovision and has to host, would the national final be put on hold if they can’t afford to do both… Read more »

As much as i love Gebrasy’s song he is Monique this year, but i am curious how jury will react to Roop, they sank them in 2018 and Ieva won …and last year they might won in the final the jury vote (but there were international jury i think in the mix) Lithuanian jury put them second in the heats or semi i think…

They did in 2018 but they won jury voting too last year and imho. “Yes I do” was more jury friendly entry than “On Fire”

In semi final jury (Lithuanian) put them second behind Aiste i think …(2020) and they won in final where were intrnational jury + maybe some Lithuanian as well so lets see, they will win televote for sure but i am not sure about jury and if there will be a tiebreak jury has more power ….

I feel sorry for all the other contestants, The Roop are at another level.

None or the songs have a chance against ‘Discotheque’. And it’s sad. I think that LRT made it on purpose not to select great songs for its NF to not let The Roop lose it. ‘Cause honestly… the level of the songs this year is clearly not as high and qualitative as last year one’s… LRT could have opted for an internal selection but they chose the NF… Probably to earn money from those who would watch it.

If different songs got 12 points from the jury / televote (considering the condition of the other one being the second place to the other category), a tiebreaker would be the jury vote. At least that’s how it was in Lithuania up to last year.

Considering the hype, I think that The Roop will win by a clear margin, but I do find refreshing that someone brought a song as good, so there is at least 1% of a chance there might be a surprising upset. If there wasn’t at least that, it would’ve been a bit boring to watch. But in the end, The Roop will win and Gebrasy’s song will likely get a good result in the Second chance contest, as well as be seen on many people’s Top NF lists. Which, I hope, will inspire him to return with something just as… Read more »

The roop would win for sure!
Even the broadcaster doesn’t want to lose all the benefit and hype around the roop’s success!

Gebrasy and Gabrielius are the only ones i like apart from The Roop in this selection so i really hope to see them in the final.
Lithuanian selection is a serious letdown song wise comparing to last year.
I even think juries might prefer Gerbrasy over The Roop but The Roop is winning the televote in the final 100%

But the bad thing is the jury breaks tie results, so I’m worried. If The Roop get 12p from tele and 10p from jury, and Gerbrasy get 12p from jury and 10p from tele. Then will Gerbrasy sadly win 🙁

Theoretically, this could happen but do you seriously think the juries would want to suffer the consequences should they rank Gebrasy above the roop? They will probably be dragged to hell and beyond by the public!!

I really hope you have right, because I want so much to see The Roop with Discoteque in Rotterdam. ESC would be so boring without them.

The juries should vote how they think is the best, if they can logically explain it on paper (as I think that the jury voting, unlike the televoting, should have some backing). The voting should be individual and reflective of their actual opinions. Lithuania has *two* songs equally capable of bringing them their best result ever. The only difference is – The Roop *have won* in 2020 and by that logic *should go* to ESC, especially with a gem like this. Still, if we look at PIN 2021 as a separate show and disregard the previous year, both songs are… Read more »

Gebrasy should win the semi. I really love his modern ballad with a subtle electronic touch. This is of a really high quality!
Gabrielius should also qualify with his lovely song with a really brave thematic. It feels good to have a heartfelt gay love song, which isn’t played off like a gimmick or for the sake of being ”edgy”. This is a good love song which just happens to gave a gay theme.
Milita and Titas & Benas would form my top 4 here and the fifth spot should go to whomever does the best performance on the day.

Gebrasy has songwriting credits for three songs in the semi. I am amongst the minority who appreciate his song more than the Roop’s. But I do think the Roop has the potential to place higher .

I really like Gebrasy and any other year I think it would qualify and do well at ESC. I cannot see anyone beating The Roop.

Hi , I don’t think gebrasy would defeat the Roop.

I meant If the contest was called ” Kris’ playlist song contest ” Gebrasy would win. But there is no way Gebrasy would garner as many votes from Europe as The Roop can so I think for ESC , The Roop should win and in fact I would want the Roop to win because they are likely to give Lithuania a better result at ESC.

But glad to see more people having Gebrasy as their playlist contest winner .
