Forget Emily in Paris. If our readers have it right, then tonight in the French capital it’s going to be all about Barbara Pravi. That’s because the “Voilà” singer has won our national final poll and is your favourite to win Eurovision 2021, C’est vous qui décidez!

The grand final of the show will unfold this evening from 21:05 CET. Be sure to visit our viewing guide if you want to watch the show live.

Barbara Pravi is your favourite to win France’s “Eurovision 2021, C’est vous qui décidez”

It isn’t exactly surprising that Barbara Pravi has topped our poll. From the moment France’s songs were released she’s been riding a wave of hype. Her French-language ballad has hints of greats like Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel. It’s stirring and emotional, telling the story of a woman who is ready to step out of the shadows and to embrace her passions. She’s accepting herself as she is, and it seems like Eurofans are too. She earned a staggering 1,664 votes — or around 35% of the 4,851 votes that were cast.

In second place with our readers is the duo Andriamad, who earned 811 votes — or nearly 17% of all those cast. They told us their song “Alléluia” is about understanding that all cultures deserve respect. “Thanks to our travels we have understood that all cultures are equal,” they told us ahead of the final. “We have to accept and respect them. It is true, it is not because one culture is different that it is better or worse than another. They exist and they have a lot to teach us. They are different as we are all different.”

Third place in our poll goes to Philippine and her song “Bah non”. This classy pop-rock chick earned 521 votes, which is nearly 11% of the total vote.

“I don’t want people to talk about me in this song,” she told us in an interview. “I want everyone listening to this song to feel invincible, strong, courageous and important. There is a recurrence of ‘no’, a lot of negations certainly, but which lead to a big YES. ‘Yes I am capable of saying no to a situation that bothers me or makes me vulnerable.’”

Poll results: Who should win France’s Eurovision 2021 selection?

1. BARBARA PRAVI – “VOILÀ” 34.47% (1,672 VOTES)

2. ANDRIAMAD – “ALLÉLUIA” 16.86% (818 VOTES)

3. PHILIPPINE – “BAH NON” 10.82% (525 VOTES)

4. PONEY X – “AMOUR FOU” 8.93% (433 VOTES)

5. LMK – “MAGIQUE” 6.84% (332 VOTES)

6. CASANOVA – “TUTTI” 5.61% (272 VOTES)

7. TERENCE JAMES – J”E T’EMMÈNERAI DANSER” 4.27% (207 VOTES)

8. AMUI – “MAEVA” 2.97% (144 VOTES)

9. JULIETTE MORAINE – “POURVU QU’ON M’AIME” 2.95% (143 VOTES)

10. CEPHAZ – “ON A MANGÉ LE SOLEIL” 2.8% (136 VOTES)

11. 21 JUIN LE DUO – “PEUX-TU ME DIRE?” 1.79% (87 VOTES)

12. ALI – “PARIS ME DIT” 1.69% (82 VOTES)

Total Votes: 4,851

Shocked that Andriama didn’t qualify in the top 8. Good winner though with Barbara.

12. 21 Juin Le Duo “Peux-tu me dire?” Interactive staging, drumming and confetti got an extra point from me. Nice friendly vibe. But it’s the weakest song tonight, sorry.

It was daft, but fun! It was sweet how much they obviously enjoyed themselves.

11. Ali “Paris me dit” – Better than I had expected. Great atmosphere. He gave his best. It’s not anywhere near my top though, sorryy.

I agree — but I think he has a lot more personality than that song really allowed him to show. Also, loved the collar and cuffs.

10. LMK “Magique” – This is very good. Professional vibes. I could “harp” on about it, haha. It might be my 2nd favourite actually.

9. Casanova “Tutti” – I loved how everyone could join in with the chorus. The singer looked terrified though! Happy he made it through to the end.

8. Pony X “Amour Fou” – Pink, huh. This is actually my most-played French song from this year: I love this record. What a pity it came straight after Barbara. It was high energy; lots of fun… I like how Pony joined the dancing and had fun afterwards. Hmmm.

Ok so let’s be honest Barbara pefirmance was just ….. EMOTIONAL and OVERWEHLMING !!!
And the jury seems to be unanime about it. Fingers crossed her!!!!

Barbara – 12

Wow. Everything about it was… fantastique. The vocal was flawless, the staging was beautifully conceived, and the change of the frame rate to match the tempo was very well done. The ability to sing to someone in a different language and convey that your song is important, to give them something emotional and powerful, is a not easy, and Barbara has that here. Undeniably fabulous.

The change of the frame rate was genius. About Barbara, well, I’m with Mask, she left me speechless.

This stage performance is ready made for Eurovision. The trick here though is that it’s everything else but the singer and the song that’s most interesting—fire, gorgeous topless men, a woman dancing in a hoop, all that’s missing is a kvina boeska.

6. Terence James – “Je t’emmenèrai danser” – Yeyyy kilts! It gets 12 points from Scotland. 😛
It’s not my night tonight. I can’t stand this song’s repetitive Chorus, but… choreography was perfect. Well done.

5. Philippine “Bah Non” – Ohh that’s very good. I’m worried, because I’m not a personal fan of this song, but I have to admit this was a great performance. Bags of talent there – plus great choreo. 🙂

4. Amui “Maeva” – Aahahaha! Oh very hot indeed. Very fun! The group look and sound a bit stage-struck; someone needs to tell them they did really well. Better than I thought it was gonna be. 🙂 It’s probably too fun for France to vote for, but it’s a lot of fun

Thoughts so far…(transferred here on Purple’s advice! 🙂 )

Andriamad – 10

I feel very disappointed for Andriamad having to go first…seems like production pushed their chances under a bus. Seemed there were also issues with the sound in the first 30 seconds? They seemed a bit frustrated in the interview. They did themselves proud though.

Juliette – 7

Beautifully sung, full of emotion, makes the song more lovely than it is.

Also-the judges getting promotional advertising of their books, cds, etc…feels very strange!

Yes, Andriamad had it tough with the microphone balance going on first, but they did well otherwise.

3. Cephaz “On a mangé le soleil” – Fun, slick, nice sunny melody. Consistent performance with vocals going over the break many times. Great to see the presenters enjoying it. 🙂

2. Juliette Moraine “Pourvu qu’on m’aime” – A nice song, which she sang very well live. She is charming, herself. Apart from that, the cameras didn’t know what to do with her. It’s a bit “empty” for TV, but a great effort otherwise.

So we are live.
Andriamad went first. The performance is pretty much ready-made for Eurovision. It’s not an absolute ESC winner, but I would be happy if it were to win in France.

A rare occasion where the readers’ poll on a national final has exactly my top 3. I’ll be glad with Barbara, Philippine or Andriamad winning. But there are 3 or 4 songs I can see getting better with a live performance and I wouldn’t mind being taken by surprise by one of them.

I loved loved loved Voila on the first listen, but it loses its luster after about the fourth. Lucky for Barbara, she would only have to perform it once at Eurovision. I say Barbara or Philippine to win, with Andriamad a solid third and an honorable mention to Pony X.

A Lithuanian afraid for his country and who has not again understood the big 5 thing, but dont be afraid your country will qualify this year so no need to be contemptuous towards the others, France and Finland thank you.
“No offense” lol yeah of course…..
I don’t like the Roop but I don’t wish the bottom 5 or whatever for them, very bad lithuanian spirit…..

Violà could easily be #1 for the juries at Eurovision.

Andreu

I know lately some people have gotten a bit annoyed with Violà, maybe they really don’t like it but maybe it is also the fact that since the songs first came out there has been the constant hype. But for once I actually understand the hype of this song. It isn’t just the same French ballad we always send , it has a particular depth that hasn’t been seen in our enteries in a while. The meaning of the song is just beautiful and she has a very unique way of expressing the meaning through her movements. It almost seems… Read more »

I think they disliked precisely because of your comments towards Voila which actually is a huge fan favorite among eurofans. However, you’re not the only one to say it will finish bottom 5 as I’ve seen people on twitter say that. I love Voila but I wish people would stop disliking due to differing opinions.

No, I didn0t neither missed your point, but I think that you should listen to all songs (just my opinon). And as lebanese esc fan said, you are disliked because of disliking voilà (i’ve actually liked your commentary becasue people can have different opinions about different songs)

Bah Non for the win! If not, then the other chance for a good result for France is Voilà, but I’m not really a fan of that one.

They’ve decided to allow international voting, just to help Barbara for the win. Lol. It’s so unfair, only french should vote for their singer. No surprise tonight, Barbara will win.

But nothing unfair here, think a little, firstly it’s cool to have international fans involved, secondly who will vote in May? International jurors and eurofans, so it makes sense, and if international eurofans love Barbara’s song more than the others it’s not without reasons then accept she is certainly the best chance for France to get the best result for them in Rotterdam. The show tonight is not about to select the song that YOU prefer or the song that french people prefer but to find the french song European audience will love and vote for in May. Keep this… Read more »

Nope, I think it’s a good idea. In the end, international votes will represent 1000 votes maximum of the total, but France 2’s audience is quite old + ratings will be low because french people don’t watch NF (they didn’t in 2018 and 2019) so it might balance the voting and help some contestants like LMK that have absolutely no chance of qualifying in the second phase with only french voters. So please vote all for LMK ! My prediction for the 8 finalists with no particular order : Barbara Andriamad Casanova Philippine 21 juin le duo AMUI Juliette Moraine… Read more »

You answered your own affirmation. Bilal is an influencer, he had a fanbase to vote for him. You just have to see the results in DE :

  • Singers with notoriety led the vote : Bilal, Chimène, Emmanuel, Lisandro.
  • Seemone and Madame Monsieur, the favourites, did well too.
  • Modern songs like Emmy Liyana, Nassi, Aysat, Lautner, Silvan Areg, June the Girl didn’t do well.

This year, nobody is really famous or has a huge fanbase. However, I predict a huge amount of points for AMUI, since polynesian will probably all vote for them.
