The first semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021 is almost upon us. And few acts have given fans as much to talk about as the show closer: two-time runner-up Danny Saucedo. Close to the top of the odds, this Swedish star hopes to take his “Dandi Dansa” to Rotterdam.

Melodifestivalen 2021: Danny Saucedo – “Dandi Dansa”
Danny Saucedo is a staple of the Swedish music industry. The Södermalm-born singer first entered Melfest as part of E.M.D. in 2009. He then went on to secure two solo silver medals back to back in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, he hosted the show with Gina Dirawi. And in 2016 he co-wrote Molly Sandén’s “Youniverse”.
Danny has since established himself as a Swedish-language singer, his “Dandi Dansa” being his first Melfest entry in his mother tongue. He has won several Swedish Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and took part twice in Så mycket bättre (So Much Better).

What do the “Dandi Dansa” lyrics mean?
“Dandi Dansa” is written by Saucedo himself along with Karl-Johan Råsmark, who has collaborated with several big shots, such as Ace of Base and Eurovision winner Lena Meyer-Landrut.
The track is all about letting loose and having fun, with whimsical lyrics that reference the macarena and how his lover makes him go “dumb, dumb, dumb for you”. The song has been compared to the works of Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Benjamin Ingrosso, indicating that a sleek production carries some cheeky and fun lyrics.
Speaking about the song, Danny says: “The last year has sucked, so I felt like I wanted a happy, positive, energetic song. Not just silly, I actually want to say something”. He adds, “the title, is just a pun, a stupid rhyme. We say these kinds of things all the time, the same old tired expressions. And the song is a reflection on that point, and also on the society we live in right now”.

Unlike the Dutch ‘blijven’ and German “bleiben”, the Swedish verb blir actually means “to become” and not “to stay”.
On topic: a fun song which is bound to stay stuck on a loop in my head. I was never too partial to Danny but this hits the spot more than any of his other entries. #rootingfordandidansa

I know there is a lot of disappointment with this song but apparently Danny put on an impressive show during yesterday’s rehearsal (unlike Thursday’s)… so here’s to hoping he brings something great today.
Overrated as f… Is so can’t stop the feeling by Timberlake. All because the perfo and not the song.
I only hope for Jessica to get the Grand final ticket. The rest of songs are bland.
I love the Swedish language, it sounds so lyrical.
