Elena Tsagrinou is going to be red carpet ready. In fact, she’s going to be ready to turn heads on the pavement, on the stage and even in any interviews she gives online. That’s because CyBC has called on stylist-to-the-stars Celia Kritharioti to work with the “El Diablo” singer on-stage and off during Eurovision 2021. Feel that fashion fuego.

“The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and Panik Records are pleased to announce that the internationally acclaimed Greek fashion designer Celia Kritharioti has undertaken the whole spectrum of the on-stage costumes and the overall styling of the Cyprus entry to the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.”
“Having worked with the biggest names in the music and movie industries across the globe, Celia Kritharioti creations have been worn by international stars such as: Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, Camila Cabello, Nicole Scherzinger, Olivia Palermo, Elsa Hosk, Chiara Ferragni, Nadine Leopold, Cindy Bruna, Maria Menounos, Giuliana Rancic, Hailey Baldwin, Zara Larsson and many others who chose her for their red carpet and/or performance looks.”

At the same time, in Rotterdam and for her public engagements, Elena Tsagrinou will be wearing the creations of the Greek fashion designer that Vanity Fair named as one of the six couturiers in the world worth watching and for whom the British edition of Vogue wrote that her collection served to fulfil every couture fantasy.”

I’m sure that the people responsible for the Cyprus act are working hard on it, and that should be respected. It’s just disappointing to me that the Cypriot broadcaster avoids working with actual Cypriots for their Eurovision acts as much as possible – at least it seems like that’s the case. This isn’t the first time, but already the fourth year in a row. No Cypriot involvement at all! There are people with creative visions from Cyprus. love how serious Cyprus takes eurovision! I also hate that a lot of people don’t appreciate that, yes they may not utilize local talent, but most people don’t get that Greek people are basically Cypriots, it’s like when Albania would send a Kosovar artist and people would complain that they don’t send their talent, when it’s basically the same people from different countries. Super excited about it, I think it will probably be in my top 10!
Kosovar artists tend to try and represent Albania because they can’t represent Kosovo at ESC. Also, the notion that Greek people are basically Cypriots is kind of insulting to Cypriot citizens who aren’t of Greek/Hellenic origin such as Hovig. Moreover, how Greek Eleni and Tamta are regarding their ethnicity can be debated – they are Greek nationals and thus have a connection to Greece, but they’re not ethnically Greek (which is fine for representing Greece as they’re both citizens of that country but not necessarily Cyprus).
