Preparations for the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021 are well underway ahead of Saturday’s show. And now, we’ve been given our first glimpse of the stage performances that each of the seven acts will bring, following the release of rehearsal clips.

Earlier today, Swedish broadcaster SVT released one-minute audio snippets of all the songs competing in semi-final two. But, any Melfest or Eurovision knows that the visual elements can be a deal breaker when it comes to a contestant’s chances of succeeding or flopping.

Throughout today, each of Anton Ewald, Julia Alfrida, WAHL feat. SAMI, Frida Green, Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos, Patrik Jean and Dotter have undertaken a full rehearsal on this year’s Melodifestivalen stage. Short 30-second segments of the rehearsal recordings have been released as the latest teaser of what fans can expect from each act on Saturday evening.

Melodifestivalen 2021: Semi-final 2 rehearsal clips

Click on the song titles to watch the rehearsal clips:

Full performances will be broadcast live on Saturday night from 20:00 CET on SVT1 and SVT Play. The recordings of the performances that don’t earn one of the top two places of the semi-final (i.e. those going to Andra Chansen and those that do not qualify at all) will be uploaded to YouTube shortly afterwards.

The performance videos of the two songs that are heading direkt till final will not be uploaded to digital channels until after the fourth semi-final has taken place.

Our video will be going live around 23:30 GMT

I’m sorry but people are focusing too hard on Dotter for this semi.. Patrik Jean is the 1 to watch here and possibly in the final too..

Dotter’s song is really good. A contender for the ticket to ESC 2021.

Dotter’s staging is way too dark, I’m not sure if the swedish public will be into it.

Even if it’s just a snippet, Dotter’s song has already become an earworm for me – and a good one! I’m really liking what I’m hearing so far and can’t wait to hear the full thing tomorrow.

Also to add: even though I never had any issues with her song title to begin with, I now think it fits incredibly well with the rest of the lyrics and the message to little children that they don’t have to follow in the adults’ footsteps. It’s like she’s soothing a worried child and I really like that.

Even though I don’t really feel the song, you have to admit that the way they have presented and styled Dotter over the last two years has been fantastic. She looks like a star here.
She could really Bengtsson/Ingrosso this and win the whole thing through sheer polish alone. It’s that professionally done.
Nobody does this sort of thing as good as Sweden. Nobody.

Dotter looks like she can win it all. Don’t think Anton sang a word of that song live.

All songs have something special this week! Its only Dotter who can feel safe, and probably also Anton. 😀 Just watched all of the performances.

Also can we appreciate Dotter’s vocals? She has never sounded this good. When you compare to the live version of « Cry », wow!

Kudos to Anton who managers to stop his lips from moving to give the sexy smile at the camera as his voice still seems to be singing…a amazing dancer and an even better ventriloquist

Why do I feel we’re gonna hear as much of Anton’s vocals as we hear from The Pussycat Backup Dancer Dolls? I hope he was just messing around.

Yep, better than last week. Danny who!
Dotter looks like she feels her song and means business. The Evas gave us a good laugh, Anton looks slicked and jacked as hell, Paul Rey is really great. And 90-talet looks and sounds more like 80-talet! A good semi overall.
Based on snippets Dotter should DQ with flying colours,, joined by Anton. AC Paul Rey and maybe Frida despite the outfit..

I find Dotter’s comeback to be weak. After last year I expected a stronger song. It’s still one of the better in the semi though so it should have no problem going through. But Bulletproof is miles ahead from what I can tell.
Patrik Jean should have no trouble qualifying. After that it’s anyones game. I wouldn’t be surprised if Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos go through to AC on charm alone. It’s the only happy party song in the semi.

I think there are three clear standouts that will go DtF and/or AC…Dotter, Anton Ewald, and Patrick Jean. That last AC spot is anyone’s guess at this point. I can make the case for any song to move forward.

Sad that Croatia decides already on friday, the winner won’t have any chance on publicity since we in Sweden are once again serving and the eyes are on Melodifestivalen! Their songs don’t stand a chance agains Sweden :/

Gurl please – I always hate on Croatia, but at least 3 of their songs are better than all the basic pop trash you’ve served since 2017 (excluding the Mamas). I’m waiting for semi-final 4

She goes down in the end! I have just seen all of the rehearsel. As many of you says, Dotter feels much more happy and secure this times. I feel winnervibes alot! Great beat, great vocals! I actually find “Little Tot stronger than “Bulletproof” and I loved that song. 😀

I legit enjoy ALL the entries!
Based off the rehearsal clips and the minute-long snippets, my predictions:

DtF: Dotter and Anton Ewald

BUT what I personally want (for now):
DtF: Dotter and Julia Alfrida

I think that this semi final will be a chaos for the 2 Andra Chansen spots between 4 songs (numbers 3-6 below)! My full prediction is: DTF 1.Dotter – The best song in the semi. 2.Anton Ewald – Not my cup of tea but I can see that the song is quite interesting and also Anton has a big fanbase in Sweden. I believe that there should have been better camera shots for such an act. Andra Chansen 3.Patrik Jean – The song is good, the staging is ok. It has chances of making it to Andra Chansen, but I… Read more »

A lot of people seem to have forgotten that the video clip of Bulletproof that was released around this time last year didn’t show AT ALL the final product on TV. To be honest it was pretty bad first. It was like two different performances in the end! I already like Dotter but I will wait until saturday to judge!!!

Dotter’s song is so done to death, it sounds like 10000 other songs that have been released in the past 3 years. There’s nothing exciting, impressive or fresh about it.

The only one that really stands out, musically and vocally, is Julia Alfrida, who should be very proud of her debut. WAHL & SAMI aren’t bad, either.

Dotter looks and sounds amazing, but I do admit that I don’t want a performance with just some lights and dancers, and I hope that isn’t the case, still my winner so far out of all heats with Paul Rey being the second and Danny the third. Anton is serving as well, I don’t like Frida’s dress and staging tho + she doesn’t sound powerful enough to qualify… Julia, the hip-hop band and the lovely older ladies are obvious NQs, but still good in their own way, and Patrik actually has the best staging, while the song is a bit… Read more »
