This wildcard round is newly-introduced for 2021. It will see the 15 eliminated semi-finalists compete for one wildcard to the final. Just like in the semis, the results will be decided entirely by the public at home. The acts will not sing again. Instead, producers will re-use performance footage from the earlier shows. The 15 acts are:

  • Semi-Final One
    • Beady Belle “Playing with Fire” — lost to Stina Talling in Duel 1
    • Jorn “Faith Bloody Faith” — lost to Blåsemafian feat. Hazel in Duel 2
    • Stina Talling “Elevate” — lost to Blåsemafian feat. Hazel in the Gold Duel
  • Semi-Final Two
    • Ketil Stokkan “My Life Is OK” — lost to Daniel Owen in Duel 1
    • Maria Solheim “Nordlyset” — lost to Raylee in Duel 2
    • Daniel Owen “Psycho” — lost to Raylee in the Gold Duel
  • Semi-Final Three
    • Dinaye “Own Yourself” — lost to Big Daddy Karsten in Duel 1
    • Ole Hartz “Vi er Norge” — lost to Emmy in Duel 2
    • Big Daddy Karsten “Smile” — lost to Emmy in the Gold Duel
  • Semi-Final Four
    • Landeveiens Helter “Alt det der” — lost to Marianne Pentha & Mikkel Gaup in Duel 1
    • Royane “Circus” — lost to KiiM in Duel 2
    • Marianne Pentha & Mikkel Gaup “Pages” — lost to KiiM in the Gold Duel
  • Semi-Final Five
    • TuVeia “Bli med meg på gar’n — lost to RIVER in Duel 1
    • Ane.Fin “Walking in My Sleep” — lost to IMERIKA in Duel 2
    • RIVER “Coming Home” — lost to IMERIKA in Gold Duel

It all looks so good when you watch it back. NRK did a great job this year; ironic considering the Covid circumstances.

I agree. They have been doing a great job at creating atmosphere even without an audience – not that we should be surprised, considering they invented including home viewers after songs back in 2010.

Why does everyone think song 2 is the kiss of death? I think enough songs have done well or qualified these days to break that stereotype.

I second that.

“Verona” won Eesti Laul from 2nd spot.

I hope the producers in Rotterdam agree with you – no favourite is ever put 2nd, it’s almost like an insult to whoever is.

I think the voting is open. I personally voted, I don’t know if I will stay for the rest of the show

Yeah, I expected more as well. They just show the videos of their performances of the semis again. I thought they would sing their songs again.

Some say that the format is bad… I say: [interrupts music]… Yeah, okay, could be better; my life is still ok though 😛

This is the first time they’ve done this. I think they only decided late. The andra chansen round of Melodifestivalen was like this for its first few years.

Honestly, aside from Semi Final 5’s songs, this show will be more interesting than the final. Much more variety of songs.

I hope Nordlyset wins. If not that, then Elevate or Vi er Norge.

Faith Bloody Faith, Vi er Norge and Pages are my top 3 so I hope one of them wins, but I’d be happy with Elevate or Playing With Fire too.

So many good songs <3

My favorites are "Elevate", "Smile", "Pages" and "Circus". I want all of them to be in the final!!! Even "Coming Home" is not too bad. So hard to choose 🙂
