Eurovision 2021 Acts 17 February

The Czech Republic delivered us a little mid-week treat with the release of Benny Cristo’s “Omaga” on Tuesday evening. And now it’s time to once more ask — who is your favourite Eurovision 2021 act so far?

Croatia’s Albina took gold in our last survey, but can she do it two times in a row? You decide!

You can listen to the Czech Republic below. Then vote in our poll. Choose wisely, you can only vote ONE time. Voting is open until Friday 19 February — the eve of the first Super Saturday of 2021.

We will then relaunch the poll to include new entries from Norway, Finland and Spain, along with any other songs which might drop between now and then.

Eurovision 2021 entries as of 17 February

New entries

Czech Republic’s Benny Cristo with “Omaga”

He was due to sing “Kemama” in 2020. Now, he’s set to perform “Omaga” in 2021. Benny Cristo keeps things relaxed and makes music on his terms. So it’s more than fitting that the name of his Eurovision 2021 song is “omaga” — a fun take on the universal expression Oh my god (“Kemama” too was a play on “ok mama”). The radio-ready dance number is bouncy and sunny — much like the singer himself. And surely much of its polish comes down to the talent of noted producer Filip Vlček, who collaborated with Benny on the track.

Other entries

  • Albania: Anxhela Peristeri “Karma”
  • Croatia: Albina “Tick-Tock”
  • France: Barbara Pravi “Voila”
  • Israel: Eden Alene “Set Me Free”
  • Lithuania: The Roop “Discoteque”
  • Ukraine: Go_A “SHUM”

Who is your favourite Eurovision 2021 act so far?

[crowdsignal poll=10747895]

Which entry is your favourite? Can any of them win the contest in May? Let us know in the comments.

Is Tick-Tock going to be revamped to remove the Croatian lyrics? I love that part of the song

No, Albina said that she is extremely happy with everyone’s response to it so she won’t change it.

Absurd, but Tick-tock so far is the freshest and most likable, other acts have something off-putting: voila too ouffed up, discotheque creepy, omaga annoying, shum weird, set me free cliched, albania timeworn…

yes, and here is why: she wouldn’t top my list if i had to guess what other people would rate high. but honestly if I had to pay for my vote, it would go to Albina with no regrets. I am as surprised as you are, because many people here felt the same way

Surprised by what? By the results of this poll? Not at all as Albina has shared this poll on her instagram….
So man no need to bash the others contestans in order to elevate your Albina cause it doesn’t work sorry, and it’s bad

based on the history of the polls here, I get your point about country teams activating when the songs comes out, but still is a very impressive result, compared to czechia for example. so don’t worry she is a valid contender as for bashing other countries – that is just my opinion, and the reason why I voted Albina

As a croat I agree…it’s annoying when they post a story on ig just to be first in the poll..like bruh let the people who follow wiwi page vote not you’r own followers (talking to you Albina but love you and your song! <3 )

In fact nothing prevents her or the others to do that, but if it’s the case the polls on wiwi would become: Who is the eurovision 2021 act with the more ISTG followers……
Like already here we can say for this poll it’s who is the eurovision act the Albina’s followers prefer, of course we already know the result.
But we can’t do anything, it’s like that.

I am positively surprised with Albina’s song. It is very modern and catchy. I also LOVE the Croatian in the song! She is my favorite so far. When it comes to other countries, I am impressed with Barbara’s emotions and body language in “Voila.” However, for some reason I do not feel the “Discoteque.” I really think they need more memorable dance moves and better costumes for it to be as impactful as “On Fire.”

Is there definition of BEST song?
Thats why called POLL, nothing spectacular about it. Its fun, not fact! At least trend to see where each songs stands before the show.
Many times happened that things change after the rehearsals, as by now we review some songs based on live national performance or by video. I prefer live performance no mater of some imperfections and for example Ukraine (i do like the song) is video not live, and plus the song must be shortened…. so we can not compare to others who alreday performed live!

Yeah, it’s tough to rank Ukraine (and Albania to some extent) when that’s not the version they are going with for Eurovision. I don’t want to get too attached to it if their shorter version is bad. It’s floating in the middle in my list because I feel like I’m judging a rough cut.

Czech are always a bit of a sleeper in terms of the fandom – over the last 3 years they’ve been in the bottom half of polls and opinions, and then have turned out good results! I feel the exact same thing will happen with Omaga as it is a great song and the team behind it sound promising 🙂

Definitely an unusual ranking and people can be very immature with it doesn’t align with their tastes. Heck, I might have a couple controversial rankings too, but I don’t want to make it personal. I’ve never seen Albania ranked this high because it’s kinda on my lower half of my list, but it’s more that I’m waiting for the revamp to judge properly and I don’t want to get to attached to the first version and unfavorably compare them. Ukraine is more 3rd/4th (because I flip with Croatia) place because I feel like I’m judging a rough cut instead of… Read more »

What a strong start, I only kinda dislike Albania, and it’s not a strong dislike, but just that I’m kind of tired of Albanian dated ballads. Otherwise all songs have some merit and quality in them and it just depends on the personal taste. So my top without Ukraine, because of the big revamp that will follow: Czech Republic, super modern and fresh and you can just picture the stage with him enjoying the song. It will surely qualify since he is an amazing performer. France, very classy and authentic to Barbara. It’s like a modern French chanson and the… Read more »

It may be an unpopular opinion but I totally agree with you. Albania has produced so much talent for its size and Fik is only holding their chances back at Eurovision, as it tends to favour a certain type of song the World has moved on from long ago. To me 2021 has started unusually good, but Karma is way below the present standard.

For me (so far):

Top 10 candidates: France, Lithuania, Ukraine (current version)
Top 15/20 candidates: Croatia, Czech Republic
Mid-list candidates: Albania, Israel

It will entirely depend on how other countries pick. So far, most returning artists have been around their last year quality or slightly better, so that’s what I’m expecting from the rest.

I’m looking forward to the Norwegian, Finnish and Spanish NFs on Saturday. There are some songs which could also compete for that top 10 spots. 🙂

I think Spain will pick the ballad, which I’m happy about because it will be their best entry since like 2016. I’m afraid Norway and Finland will choose songs which I like (Keiino and Blind Channel) but I’m not crazy about, which would be fine if they didn’t have songs in their selection that I love (Imerika and Raylee in MGP and Ilta, Aksel and Oskr in UMK).hope tho that at least one of them wins.

For me, Voy a quedarme is much better than Memoria, but I’m unsure which one will be picked.
In UMK, I also predict the win of Blind Channel (I find it okay), while I’d also much prefer Ilta, Oskr or Aksel.
In MGP, I have a hunch that they might go for TIX, even though I’d prefer KEiiNO, Raylee, Emmy or Imerika. I find TIX good right now, but I am wary of the translation.
However, I do find all three selections kind of unpredictable. Will likely be watching MGP for it’s scale and voting process.

I hope Voy a Quedarme is chosen because I think it’s the better of the two songs (and it appears to have more views than Memoria does). I am concerned that with non-Spanish fans allowed to vote, the weaker song could be chosen on purpose to sabotage Spain so that their own country’s song will be more successful. Which is a stupid paranoid thought, and I hope it isn’t true. Plus, I did vote for Voy a Quedarme and I’m not even from a European country so there. My picks for Finland and Norway are Teflon Brothers X Pandora and… Read more »

The Croatian entry is a tiny revamp away (I wouldn’t change the structure of the song it, but I think it could sound more polished like the Czech and the Israeli ones) of leaving us completely on the same page, Colin.

Norway and Finland will probably pick something that I like (hopefully, something that I love) and I also hope Spain picks “Voy a quedarme”. It wouldn’t get a great position on my ranking, but I fear “Memoria” would be my least favorite when the next poll comes.
