VICTORIA has a big decision on her hands. And the Eurovision 2021 hopeful from Bulgaria is turning to fans for help choosing her song. On Friday, the Bulgarian Eurovision team launched a new website which allows music fans all over the world to leave feedback about VICTORIA’s six potential Eurovision songs. You can leave comments about your favourites now!

VICTORIA launches online feedback platform for her potential Eurovision 2021 songs

The website went live on Friday. At Bulgaria2021.com, fans can listen to all six potential Eurovision tracks and leave comments about each. The site will remain open to collect feedback until Monday 1 March.

VICTORIA released her first potential Eurovision song “UGLY CRY” in November 2020. Then, the singer released one potential Eurovision song every day from 14 February to 18 February. “Imaginary Friend”, “Phantom Pain”, “Dive Into Unknown”, “The Funeral Song” and “Growing Up Is Getting Old” are all taken from VICTORIA’s upcoming EP a little dramatic.

The final decision is in the hands of VICTORIA and her team. However, the feedback fans provide will help inform their decision about which song to send to Rotterdam for Bulgaria. The song choice will be announced some time in early March.

Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021

VICTORIA was set to sing for Bulgaria at Eurovision 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic ultimately led to the contest’s cancellation. Her magical dark-pop song “Tears Getting Sober” was a favourite amongst fans and bookmakers alike, who named it one of the favourites to win the contest. In March 2020, Bulgarian broadcaster BNT confirmed the superstar singer-songwriter’s 2021 return to Rotterdam. VICTORIA will perform in the second half of the second semi-final on Thursday 20 May 2021.

VICTORIA’s participation at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam is supported by iCard — official sponsor of the Eurovision Bulgaria project. The Bulgarian participation is a public-private partnership between national broadcaster BNT and Ligna Group.

What do you think of this selection method? Which of VICTORIA’s songs is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below!

Tears Getting Sober was my favourite last year, so I’m bit sad that none of these songs live up to that. Maybe with good staging some of these can be good, but when just listening to them none of them really stands out.

I won’t be leaving my feedback on the website as it wouldn’t be fair. There’s almost no way that I’m going to be televoting for her in May and as such, my opinion shouldn’t have any sway (as small as it would be) on her decision. Quite happy letting fans of her music hopefully get what they want in this case. Good luck, Bulgaria!

Voted for Imaginary Friend and The Funeral Song. Regardless, I love the EP and can’t wait for it

I’m rewriting this because for some reason the previous one was not approved. (Why tho wiwibloggs?) None of the songs can be compared to “Tears Getting Sober”, that’s for sure (and I didn’t quite like the song or get the hype around her name). She clearly seemed devastated when artists were informed that they cannot use their 2020 songs in 2021. And I think we can see why. For me it’s between Imaginary Friend, Ugly Cry and Dive Into Unknown. I prefer Imaginary Friend’s melody but I’d say Ugly Cry is more Eurovision friendly. Anyways, best of luck to Victoria… Read more »

Can’t decide between Imaginary Friend and Dive into the Unknown! DITU was an instant liking because the chorus is very melodious, for IF it took many listening to really enjoy it. But now i feel that IF is less generic and has more depth, more layers into it.

I actually think both are layered songs, but I had the same experience with them: a stronger initial impact with “DITU” and “IF” is winning me with time. Would be happy with both.

I…might’ve lied about what country I’m from in my feedback. I know it’s not right to lie but I worried that if they knew I’m from a country that doesn’t participate in Eurovision that they’d just throw my feedback away and think it doesn’t matter.

By the way, I didn’t just put my personal opinions on the songs, but I also added what I observed other fans say about each of the songs (even if it contradicted my opinion), so honestly I feel like my feedback might be pretty useful.

BNT said that people from all over the world can give feedback. All feedback is useful for the team to choose. Don’t underestimate yourself.

As for now, my TOP 6 is as follows:

1. Ugly Cry
2. The Funeral Song
3. Imaginary Friend

4. Growing up is getting old
5. Dive into unknown
6. Phantom Pain

Overall, I have to say that imo, the first three songs have potential to do well at Eurovision, which I can not really say for the other three.

My winner changes daily. Partly because there isn’t one obvious choice for an ESC winning song in the mix and partly because I forget how the songs go, until I listen and then remind myself I liked it.
My top 6:

  1. Imaginary Friend
  2. The Funeral Song
  3. Dive Into Unknown
  4. Ugly Cry
  5. Growing Up is Getting Old
  6. Phantom Pain

I feel sad about Tears Getting Sober. One of the best songs in ESC history for sure. If Imaginary Friend gets a revamp with better instrumental and culmination, would be much elevated for the stage.

Victoria is a lovely artist and person. Last year’s song was epic. This year’s songs are good but as far as that. No great potential for Eurovision. For her as an artist, these songs are however appropriate, to promote her style. Good luck Bulgaria!

Well if you think about it, every musician can only have one “best” song that shines above all their other songs not matter how great all their other songs are.

Queen for example had tons of very famous hits, but they’ve only got one “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

I think Imaginary Friend and Growing Up is Getting Old really shows Victoria as an artist, anthemic and melancholy with a lot of potential for staging. Ugly Cry and Phantom Pain don’t do a lot for me, and I’m not sure how well they would do at the contest. But props to Bulgaria for giving this emerging artist a platform over the last year 🙂

These are a lot better when we compare these to the songs Sweden is giving us. She has a view on what she wants to pursue as a style, I’d go with UGLY CRY.

The songs are perfectly sewn on Victoria. Well done for choosing these songs which all have a style and are coherent. When it comes to think of these on Eurovision stage, none of them made me say “that’s it!”. Still I prefer last year’s song, but my favorite is Imaginary Friend so far.

I’m going with Phantom Pain because I really enjoy the bass line. But I would encourage her to go for the song she feels the most as that way she is likely to project it more authentically.

How dare you not send blind praise to everything a fan favourite does. How dare you have an opinion. You monster. Seriously though, anyone that complains that “it’s her style” are the kind of people that bop to a rapper singing about killing himself and then act surprised when he does. We shouldn’t be happy that this incredibly artist’s only mood is depression and that that is ALL she can sing about. You can sing about sadder topics, but when it’s the only thing you can manage maybe you should seek counseling because it’s not healthy. It’s honestly disheartening to… Read more »

She really isn’t. She was last year, but definitely not this year. Not with any of these songs anyway. She kinda blew it.

I actually really like all of the songs Victoria has released and honestly think any of them will do a good job in Rotterdam. I feel like the biggest critique is that none of the songs have a “moment” like Tears Getting Sober. I don’t really get this argument, because songs like Sebi have done perfectly fine in the past without a huge moment as well. Plus, I know Victoria will put on a great show regardless, so I’m excited to see what she picks and I have no worries she’ll do a great job in Rotterdam!!

I wouldn’t. Many people suffering from mental health issues who have been to asylums or mental hospitals at some point have repeatedly said that using asylums as aesthetics and themes/motifs is very insensitive and usually tends to either vilify or romanticize mental illness in a way that is harmful, especially to people who experience psychosis.
