Melodifestivalen 2021 semi-final 3 acts

The third semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021 takes place this Saturday in Stockholm. Seven acts are set to take to the stage, all hoping to secure one of four spots in the next rounds of the contest.

Two will advance direkt till final. Two will have to fight another day in the duels at andra chansen. And three acts will advance no further and have to pack their bags.

You’ve read the media reviews, you’ve heard the audio snippets and you’ve watched the rehearsal clips. So now we want to know who you think should win semi-final three of Melfest 2021.

Do you think both young and old will come out in support of Charlotte Perrelli? Are you hoping everything won’t go wrong for Emil Assergård? Is your heart beating in time with that of Klara Hammarström? Have you caught Mustasch fever? Have you decided that who you are is an Elisa fan? Are you getting ready to dance along with Alvaro Estrella? Or are you in love with the voice of Tusse?

You can show your love for as many of Saturday night’s acts as you like in our poll below, but make it count because you can only vote once. We’ll close the poll and reveal the results in advance of Saturday night’s semi-final.

Oh, no! I loved Klara’s previous entry. This is really disappointing. The staging looks really bad. I think she looked better when she had a bit more weight, but that’s just my opinion and doesn’t mean anything. But why the orange skin?! She looks plastic and that unfortunate costume isn’t helping. Last year everything about her radiated fun and adorableness, this year it feels generic.

Im wondering why Klara looks so different from last year. Is it the haircut, weightloss or did she do plastic surgery? She looks fantastic anyway 🙂

would prefer the metal(try?) & klara but i know meanwhile how crazy swedish voters are.
so i think i prefer the last 2 of semi 3. 😀
weak semi 3 – no danger for the sexy dotter legs.

Apparently the Swedish press think they have a ESC jury winner with Tusse. Lol wtf it’s a bit delusional I think? When you literally have Barbara Pravi in the competition with a hundred times better lyrics and arguably better composition…

Well.. if Benjamin Ingrosso did well, then I think Tusse would do well too. Don’t be so sure about Barbara.. Odds are based on hype.

All I find is on SVT own page where SVT own reporters thinks its the most clear finalist since Euphoria. I do think it would do well with juries but not with audience. With him we would have another “Sweden 20 points” situation. I fear Swedes would choose him though because they just “feel” his song

Since when Esc juries reward lyrics? Sad but True.
We don’t know how Barbara would do. Remember 2018 when Jury went for Austria, Sweden, Israel or Cyprus instead of France or Italy.
Seeing how Esc juries have been voting I understand Swedish press in this case. Safe, generic and polish pop songs do well with them.

Where have you found that information? The only thing I found is that they say they have never been so sure someone will go to the final in Melodifestivalen since Loreen, that is not the same thing as saying they will win ESC haha.

I hope Klara progresses in the competition, I really like her song and it would be nice to see her leave the heat.

Just saw the 30 sec live clips and by faaaaaar my favorite is Emil out of these, to my surprise. Tusse is my second, his voice was still too screachy for my taste though in that clip…

The rest was really really not good at all, they are way way way behind. But i might change my opinion when i get to hear the complete songs. If i were to be forced to choose a 3rd and a 4th then maybe Perelli and Estrella.

I voted for Emil, Mustache and Alvaro based on the snippets. My views could change when I’ve heard the whole songs.

Emil has the catchiest melody which has been stuck in my head since I heard it, rock is my favourite genre and Mustache does it well, and lastly I love a feel-good party vibe, which Alvaro does very well.

I like all the others as well, there is nothing in here that I think is terrible.

100% I mean this respectfully…Are y’all on crack?!? ..Tousse is the clear winner of this semi…Charlotte….C’mon now yall. Stop it. We love her, but no. A/C at best, even then…oooof.

Prediction:

DTF: Tousee and Mustache
A/C: Klara & Alvaro
Out: Charlotte, Emil, Elisa

This is probably the clearest SF so far for me. Tusse should go DTF along with either Klara/Charlotte depending on how their whole songs pan out. Alvaro should get the AC ticket to go along with them.
Elisa and Emil could have nice songs but I get the feeling that they’ll be just there. Mustasch, I’m afraid, just doesn’t sound very good.

Don’t think the Melfest winner is in this SF but I think we’ll get 3-4 strong finalists out of it.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I think that we have a weak Melfest this year. In every heat so far there is just one or two standout songs and the rest are average. For deltävling 3 I think that the best song is Tusse’s. I think that Voices and Baila Baila are the ones that will go direkt till final. As for the ones that’ll head to andra chansen, it is hard to predict. I think Klara Hammarström will get the one of the two tickets and as for the second one I am torn between Emil and… Read more »

I’d wait until the semi final 4 songs are out to officially declare its quality status, but yeah, it does feel weaker overall compared to last year’s. Dotter seems to be the strongest artist so far, but even if she wins and goes to Rotterdam, is Little Tot good enough to get Sweden’s seventh win? Frankly, I see it as another 5th placer (maybe 4th or 3rd if I am generous). I don’t want to declare it a winner for Sweden, until the semi final 4 songs are out. Maybe a winner will be found there. I don’t know.

Well technically you’re right Badwoolfgirl, we should wait until semi 4 but I can’t imagine that we had 3 semis with 1 or 2 good songs and we will have a semi with 7 good songs or even like 5 or 4 good songs.
And I think that if Little Tot goes to Rotterdam it will end up in the lower top 5, but let’s see what happens!

So you want 7 standout songs in each semifinal? Impossible! Can’t belive what I’m reading..

ESC8 probably meant that there should be four good acts who’d be great to have to go to the final as well as in Andra Chansen, otherwise AC will be a graveyeard of bad songs, while the only one or two good acts in a semifinal would already go to the final. Why start a fight when ESC8 had a clear and a very nice point of view, I think you should apollogize ESC8.

Wouldn’t it be great if we had such a semi? With 7 standout songs? I can’t find a reason as to why someone wouldn’t want that.
In any case, my point was that in the past there had been contests with at least 4 standout songs, there were songs in andra chansen round that in other contests could’ve won the whole thing. This isn’t the case this year.

If anyone is voting for anyone but klara please explain to me why cause I really can’t hear how a person can think there’s a song in this semi that’s better.

Must say I am a bit disappointed with Tusse! I expected more with those songwriters and that singer. It is a good song but it it feels like Tusse is stronger than the song, like he overshadows it. He absolutely will win this heat but win everything?
Probably not but what do I know? I always get downvoted so..
Guess I have to wait and see after Saturday!

I’d just like to say that you always get downvoted because whenever someone says anything bad about Sweden’s selection of songs you immediately take it as a personal offence. Not because of your opinion about Tusse, which is frankly valid and true.

Bullying? She started trashing I gave opinion about how other countries are just as generic and instead of replying to it she played smart and gave me a definition.. So who is the bully here? Also if your country gets constantly bashed and trashed on this site wouldnt you end up defensive? But whatever, I really dont care what some random unknown troll person think

How is pointing out being generic is not a valid criticism and pointing out others are just as generic being petty? How is expecting a proper answer instead of a lexicon being petty? Where did I talk about personal life? I dont know her. All I know is that she thinks Sweden is generic and refuses to discus when pointed out others are generic. But sure, lets defend her from mean comments..

Well acting superior while pretending I am stupid by giving me a definition of generic instead of giving an answer which is what I asked for is indeed one type of person. I still by the way wait for an answer why Sweden is generic and others not. Can she provide it or will she be Wikipedia about it again?

Maybe she gave you the definition, because that was her way of seeing generic, and to be honest she was right on those words. That is how you describe generic. Generic music doesn’t do anything special and is very much on the same line with other music. She wasn’t at any point acting superior. You really should come off your high horse and apologize.

And for Dope, don’t even bother to answer Denis anymore, if this isn’t a clear sign that he went out of the line then so be it.

I know what generic means, that is not what I wanted. I wanted her to tell what makes Mello generic and other selections not generic because it looks as if Sweden is the only one being generic according to that. You could say other selections are just as generic which is my point. But appearantly the response was “its generic”. Which is not a valid response

Denis, you wanted her to tell how she sees generic music and the definition of generic music was the way she sees it so you got what you wanted. It was most likely not an attack against you at all. The article was about Sweden, so why start blaming other selections there? For drama? She was never saying other selections were not filled with generic songs. Just apologize and understand that it’s never okay to start talking about people’s personal life here when there is no reason to do it. This is your moment to redeem yourself, I’m not going… Read more »

After thinking about it.. I agree that Dotter is still number one for winning. Tusse is my 2nd favourite though even if he’s not through to the final yet. I think it’s still a great song and production. We haven’t seen the whole performance either.. I also judge after I’ve seen all of it. Anyway many fans are only looking for a eurovision winner among every song we have in our selection it seems.. Based on comments here and there. Sometimes it really affects me.. makes me lose my own judgement perhaps. But Voices IS a great song.

Well the ultimate point with Mello is to find a winner. So I get why people are looking for it. Including me:)
When a song gets in final you should always treat it as a potential winner and ask could this win and how would it do in Europe? Could you see Tusse doing well?

You summed up perfectly what’s going on! Tusse’s obvious talent really shows up the limitations of the song. I felt similarly about John Lundvik with “My Turn” where you’re like, “Wow, this guy is really something” but you’re also thinking, “Song’s just there, isn’t it?”.

alvaro’s, tusse’s and charlotte’s (in this order) songs are definitely the standouts of this semi-final for me, i think these 3 and klara are easy qualfiers, the margin between them and the other 3 acts is very visible and honestly, how did mustasch’s song even get through to melfest? it’s so horrible

other than that, quite a solid semi imo

Tobias

Bland and boring, looks like a landslide win for Dotter since this semi doesn’t bring any contenders for the win.
